McCain rally in Virginia moved to larger venue

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="McCain event relocating to a larger venue."]

(CNN) - John McCain's campaign is moving a Wednesday rally from a northern Virginia high school to new venue following complaints from some local officials, who complained that holding a partisan event on school grounds violates local School Board policy.

However, McCain's campaign told CNN on Wednesday the main reason for moving the event was to accommodate outsized demand for tickets.

The McCain camp was scheduled to hold a rally Fairfax High School’s field house tomorrow morning from the school system and the city for $10,200.

The event, originally scheduled to be held at Fairfax County High School in northern Virginia, is being re-located after some county School Board members and parents complained that the rally posed a violation of board policy because it would disrupt normal school hours, and objected to the exception granted the McCain campaign. Over the summer, when school was not in regular session, Democrat Barack Obama held a rally at the county’s Robinson High School.

A McCain aide said the principal reason for moving the rally to a new, larger venue - a nearby park - is the mounting demand for tickets. McCain's rallies over the last week with running mate Sarah Palin have drawn large crowds for the Republican nominee.

Wednesday's event will be McCain's first in Virginia since securing the nomination earlier this year.

Why was it moved to a larger venue? The seats were half empty at the Republican Convention! lol

I'm so sick of turning on CNN and seeing that old man standing behind that woman's fake mug. Can we get the cameras off these ugly people and start talking issues instead of what we don't know about her. McCain was practically a ghost before her and now he looks like a horny old man smuggly listening to her do his dirty work. I want to watch real issues not e-tv on CNN.

Look folks the fight is on. Sorry I know us Dems are above your average Redneck Joe in Texas,,(they dont think) but its time we Dems get down and dirty in the mud to win this thing! It has to be that way....that sadly is how politics have gone now...nobody wants to talk about the issues because so far the GOP does not even understand the issues....if they did we would not be in the mess we are in. Look folks, Reganomics and Trickledown has never worked, and will never work. Regan is the one that yes outspen the Russians but also at the same time spent us right into a recession! Thank god for the dot com boom of the early 90's. Lets get Obama in there and an energy boom will be happening....and they we will all have a happy holiday season...yes even you dumb Texans...

Anybody notice that McCain attempted a ripoff of Obama's campaign at the last possible minute? Why would an experienced candidate (McCain) plagiarize his supposedly less experienced rival? If Obama is so bad, why copy him?

The change the country needs is not from old to young. It's from Republican to Democrat.

Bill Clinton's era was the best of my life.

I've been tallying these comments at CNN for the last week or so – I'm counting 10 supporters for Obama/Biden to 1 for the GOPs.

    Try it yourself

    There is good news!

I'm so proud America woke up!!!!

    McCain putting himself first...

    Pandering with a female
Pandering with a conservative instead of what he wanted (Lieberman)

He's no "Maverick" – he's just pandering and doing what the GOP wants him to do... he caved in!

The DNC actually looks to Obama for LEADERSHIP and direction

John sure knows how to use women. He duped his first wife into thinking he was a good husband and caring father, and then ditched her for a role in the hay with Cindy Lou.

He used Cindy for...well you know what he used her for, and her family money.

He's now using Sarah as a last ditched effort to become relevant in a campaign that hasn't given him the time of day, until now.

And he will use all of the female supporters to help him continue the failed Bush policies of the last 8 years. Way to go John, some man.

The truth is Palin is an extremist, liar and a bully.

Extremist? (Dick Cheney pales in comparison)

Supporting the war in Iraq and calling it a "task from God." Dragging the women of America back to the ice ages with her ridiculous views on choice, which has to do with the control and oppression of women.

Liar? (a boldface one at that)

Supporting the Bridge To Nowhere, and then after Congress makes it DOA, saying she did not support it. Also, saying Obama's economic plan will raise taxes, and leaving out that those who make under $250,000 will do better under the Obama/Biden plan than McCain's

Bully? (yes, a lipstick wearing one)

Why try and get the investigation on possible "abuse of power" turned over to a committee appointed by her? Why put a librarian in the "little gut versus big guy" position by asking rhetorical questions about the banning of questions? You do don't have to be overt or criminal to be a bully.

Hillary said it best – No Way No How No McCain.

Community Organizer is a euphamism. He worked with ACORN. They're record is vote stealing, fraudulent voter registrations, paying people with illicit drugs. Why has the "Change you can believe in" campaign not detailed his work as a comunity organizer? Better to not open that can of worms

Thank you Joe Biden for saying the truth about stem cell research. All of you upset at his remarks enjoy sarcastic snide 1/2 truths but you can't handle the truth like Biden puts it? Republican hypocrits as usual.

All you raging Demorrhoids obviously haven't read the article. The heading is a simple fact - the rally was moved to a larger venue. The article doesn't say they were ordered to move, only that it was done after "...some county School Board members and parents complained..." A careful examination of the facts proves that it is you who are lying.

Women are coming out for Sarah Palin big time--20% of white women (including the Wal-Mart moms) jumped onto her bandwagon right after her convention speech.

Concerned Women for America, arguably the nation's largest women's organization, with local chapters in every state, praised Palin, not just because she opposes abortion but because she is a "woman of accomplishment who brings a fresh face to traditional values and models the type of woman most girls want to become."

Equally celebrated was that she "will bring to the forefront of our cultural conversations an intelligent, realistic, well-grounded woman's perspective." For groups like Concerned Women for America, Palin embodies modern conservative womanhood - she is politically active, personally motivated and decidedly conservative.

    Sarah Palin 12 & 16'

A vote for McCain and Palin

-–4 more years of Bush (or worse)
-–I am a woman and do not want to back in history....(Palin)
--All we have heard from them is attack attack meat and potatoes(at least Obama has a plan)

McCain and Palin... has not said anything on how they are gonna do what?.... Cutting nothing compared to the billions we spend on the war.... the rich will continue to get richer and the poor poorer.... just think..... if abortions become illegal.....we will have more hungry children than Africa.....

with the way the economy is nad high energy prices...
and the policies of John and Sarah..... the USA will be far worse off than we already are.

At some point she's going to have to come from under the rock and face the big wide USA. If she wants to run the country, she'll have to speak to its residents. Oh what a nightmare–she'll have to face Americans.

Gov. Palin is a McCain cheerleader! She always speaks before him at a rally & says the same old s tuff. I watched Sen Biden speak at the same time she was speaking on CNN this afternoon. Biden was speaking on health care, a top issue to many Americans. Palin was cheerleading as usual. She has no agenda. Time is short & the public still does not know what her stand is. Media has to dig to find something she has done as mayor or governor to get an idea of she's about. This is not a game to me. I am extremely disappointed at McCain for exploiting this woman, and I am upset that she is allowing them to make a pure fool out of her. He's using her and if he wins, she will not be allowed to do anything. She will be scripted as she is now. Sen. Obama has my vote. American women should be ashamed of voting her in. She is not and never will be Hilary Clinton. Hilary is no fool & she knows the issues. She didnt win but she'll back.

.....I think that, at least in theory, the McCain camp is concerned that McCain would draw less crowds than his running mate….thus making him less appealing by showing that the people aren't there for his "message" at all......

Of course people are there to see this "oddity pitbull". They don't give a hoot about McCain or what he has to say. Two woman I know told me they went to that airport rally just so she could see this woman lie in front of all those people. LOL!!!

The jokes on the GOP's this year. Telling us a lier over and over still doesn't make it true and this year we're aware.

America is paying attention this time. Truthful Information is easy to find this day and age.

I'm so glad America got smart! I'm counting 10 Obama supporters to every 1 McCain supporter.

Great John, keep her away from the press, that way they won't find out what a zero she is.

My suggestion would be to build a bunker and let her hide out wherever the heck Dick Cheney was hiding out during 9/11 and Katrina.

Obama/Biden, a team who's not afraid to face the music.

Do you mean to tell me that the Right can say that if you are a Democrat that you are NOT a true American, or that you don't love or care about your country or that you are not a true patriot but the Democrats "sink to a new low" by pointing out a scientific FACT???
