Father: Palin showed grit at early age

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Chuck Heather, Palin's father, says it hasn't settled in yet that his daughter, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, is running for vice president."]
WASILLA, Alaska (CNN) - Gov. Sarah Palin's father never imagined that his "little girl" would run for the vice presidency, but he knows his daughter's determination made her a success when others, including himself, expected her to fail.

"I look back on Sarah's perseverance, and whatever she wanted to do, she put her nose to the grindstone, especially in sports," Chuck Heath told CNN in an extensive interview in his Wasilla, Alaska, home. "If she didn't have a certain ability, she worked and worked and worked until she obtained that ability or skill."

Sen. John McCain, the Republican presidential nominee, surprised the political world when he picked Palin, a first-term governor from Alaska, to be his running mate nearly two weeks ago. The interview with Palin's father will be included in "Sarah Palin Revealed," a documentary that will air on CNN at 9 p.m. ET Saturday and Sunday.

Heath, a retired science teacher and coach who now works with the federal Wildlife Services Program, said his daughter started exhibiting her stubborn streak at an early age.

"Sarah, she was something else," he said. "I wasn't mean to her. I was stern with her, but I could seldom bend her if she made up her mind on something."

  1. Ex-Republican for Obama

What he is saying, is she could have been so much better, based on how she was at an early age. But he's ashamed of how shallow, coniving and deceptive she turned out in her later age (now).

  2. McCain = Mr. 90%

We didn't need to know anything about Sarah Palin two weeks ago, and we are not going to need to know anything about her after November 4th.

    She is unqualified. Period.

With McCain's poor judgement and bad temper, he is also unqualified. Period.

Let's start talking about how we can come together to fix this country and try to start forgetting about this VP candidate that was selected solely for the purpose of distracting the American people from what the real issues are.

I mean come on...every politician's family is going to say that the candidate as "grit". This is silly...

    Obama/Biden '08!

OK CNN, Enough Palin.... Thank you.

She doesn't even want to talk to you nor answer questions from Americans or anybody. Why are you still giving this person any attention. She's not paying any attention to us.

Daddy dear.... enjoy your 20-second of fame because that's all it will be, and by the way, don't you worry. YOUR daughter will not be Vice President. So you really have nothing to worry about on that note!

Your daughter is truly the "weakest link".... GOOD-BYE..

Too bad you did not teach her it is unethical to lie, or did she miss those church services?

Pay attention to this quote from her own father.

"Sarah, she was something else," he said. "I wasn't mean to her. I was stern with her, but I could seldom bend her if she made up her mind on something."

In other words, she does what she wants, when she wants, the way she wants, and to hell with everyone else!

I am Hillary Supporter – I still do love her. The Ball is now in your Court, Play it and play it hard. .

The Pundits should remind themselves that with all Hillary's experience, charm and values – they turned their backs on her – what a pity!! Sarah – take that mandle to all and hence to the White House – Good Luck ...

Who is this Sarah Palin? I thought this was a Presidential Election. Is she a third party candidate?

BTW..13 days and counting and Sarah Palin has not talked to the media. I am not counting the ABC "softball" interview either. That is about as bad as the Larry King interview. A pitbull with lipstick is just a common cur with a muzzle on.

Obama has not attack Sarah Palin, and all of you know that. If he apologize for the old quote put lipstick on a pig its still a pig I will not vote either way because McCain himself said it not once but 4 times...CHEAP SHOTS YOU REPUBLICANS ARE USING,and we will win by a landslide because Republicans don't know how to debate the issues, they always have to try and attack on a personal basic, get real with the state the economy is in, we can't afford to look at anything other than the issues, and I have done that since the campaign started. I have had my eye on Obama and I know he is definitely the one that will make a change for the better, and McCain is just another reflection of George Bush....and Palin is just another thorn in our side....

Being a good sportsman does not a good VP make. I respect Sarah Palin for some of her decisions but I do not want this woman in office if something happened to McCain. God help us. I will move to Canada. People get a grip! The Republicans think that McCain and Palin are God's gift to this country but this was the dummest mistake McCain has made (almost). Barack Obama is the man for the job!

    Truth about Sarah Palin –

Palin's office approved a state job for a friend and campaign aide with whom she shared a land investment, financial records and interviews over the past two weeks show. She hired a former lobbyist for a pipeline company to help oversee a multibillion-dollar deal with that same company.

And she sent campaign e-mails on her city hall account while serving as mayor of Wasilla — conduct for which she later turned in an oil commissioner on ethics charges.

"Sarah Sideshow" will be exposed for how clueless she really is. And the "Sarah Sideshow" phenomenon will soon subside. Let's get back talking about issues that Americans care about most. It's the issues that will help Obama-Biden win. -Mc
