Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

Am I the only person who really feared this woman being one heartbeat away from the presidency. You could sense she really didn't know what she was talking and that she was shooting from the hip. This woman does not need to be VP.

She doesn't hesitate to do anything that is in bad judgement, nor does her family for that matter.

Fact: Palin was for The Bridge to Nowhere, before she found out she could steal the money from it...then she was AGAINST it, and kept the money. Well isn't that SPeeaaCiall?!?!?

The deer was caught in the headlights when she had no idea what the "Bush Doctrine" was. The questions about the Iraq War being part of God's Plan, gives me a chill. I have some new respect for Gibson, he did more than a fluff piece.

She's a woman on a mission....even if it's an evil one....is it just me or does she remind anyone else of the mom in "Psycho"......all that's missing is the rocking chair!!

That says it all. She did not think about her Family, if she was qualified, why would the Republicans ask her? makes no sense.

It is all like People Magazine and wag the Dog.

The people of this Country are so busy being Democrats and Republicans they forgot about being Americans.

I am ashamed that out of 300 million people this is the best we can come up with?.

The whole thing is a media circus with no substance having this woman as VP proves it.

That's because you were so shocked that you were asked. Sounds like even you were surprised to have gotten the call. And why is that? Because you yourself don't think you have the qualifications to be VP or even President.

But maybe you should have given some thought to being used by the McCain campaign as a sick pandering trick to exploit women voters. Nah, why would you care about that.

No more lies. Get to the issues!

I think she is confusing "blink" with "think". She means you can't think. We don't need a knee jerk reactor as our vice president. We already have one.

I welcome the trooper gate investigation, NOT. Now I want to sue to block subpoenas. I must have something to hide. Go figure.

Saw an excerpt a little while ago on the Situation Room on one of her answers to Charlie Gibson's question, and she paraphrased wording from the Declaration of Independence, totally avoiding the subject of God, which the question was directed toward. I guess the ex-Bush aides are tutoring her well. Does this mean I could be vp, too?

Her answers on the interview were scripted and every time there was a follow up question she just repeated the same answer over and over....She sounded like a McCain clone. She is not ready to lead...but clearly is ready to follow.

Americans should be worried about the fact that Palin "didn't blink" before accepting McCain's offer. Just the kind of knee-jerk, shoot-first-ask-questions-later this country doesn't need.

Palin would be bad for our country. She isn't ready for this level of responsibility.
