Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

joe... and how is sticking with the party that chose not to go after the most wanted terrorist on the face of the planet who was also the mastermind of that horrible day 7 years ago going to make us any safer. anyone who supported the iraq war over the hunt for osama bin laden. to make a statement to the world, you come and mess with us, we WILL get you. that would make you safer. iraq has been a buisness deal for the republicans, at our expense. and you want to give them another four years.. because you are scared.. wake up, realize the truth, and then you will understand what true change needs means and that mccain and palin will bring us nothing but war..

and she wont even blink before she thinks.. dont be dumb,.
    vote obama.

TIn my opinion I think Charlie was way to easy on Palin. He should have really pushed her on the issue as to why she believes she is ready to be President of the US if something should happen to "I was a POW McCain". Come on Media yes I know she a female but i want to know that if the time comes for her to step into the oval office that she has the brains and know how to keep this country safe.

Palin was at the bottom of the barrel, just becaused you were asked doesn't mean you should have accepted! And now with the information coming out against her, I'm not sure she's going to stay on the ticket. It looks like she'll pursuit career over the needs of her family.

Voted for McCain in the primary but consider his choice of Palin an insult. I, a female registered rebpublican, will be either staying home or voting democrat for the first time in many years.

    Gosh, I love this!

All the Obama folks attacking the GOP for putting a "inexperienced" candidate up for VP.

Hey folks! Look at what your party put up as the PRESIDENTIAL nominee? REALLY? You can actually type these words against Palin?

This is why the DNC will lose another presidential election.

    3 strikes.

If Americans fall for the BS, there is truly no hope for this country! This woman doesn't have a clue. The Republicans thought that they could just bring her out and people would "love" her so much she wouldn't even be ask any hard questions. Think again! Even the main stream media are being forced to call out these lies. It's starting to make them look foolish not to. This country is in a crisis. There is no time for a learning curve! She doesn't even come close to being qualified to be VP with a man 72 years old as a running mate. She scares me to death. She's being tutored by the same people who brought us the "Bush doctrine", even if she doesn't know what the is!

Most of the comments on here are hilarious. You Obama supporters do realise that you're not helping him at all, right? By holding Sarah Palin to a higher standard than you hold Obama, is just revealing your bias and undecided voters wil be turned off. She did very well, from what I saw.

THE BOTTOM LINE WITH SARAH PALIN IS SHE WON'T BLINK.....AND WON'T THINK. THIS IS THE TYPE OF PERSON WHO WOULD LAUNCH US INTO NUCLEAR WAR BY ACCIDENT WITHOUT ANALYZING FACTS, CIRCUMSTANCES, AND CONSEQUENCES. WE NEED OBAMA NOW MORE THAN EVER.

    McCain/Palin '08 ≠ Hillary '12

Picking McCain/Palin is a making sure this country doesn't MAKE IT to 2012.

  15. Executive Experience?

Republicans keep bringing up the executive experience issue. I'll take the ground-breaking way in which Obama has run his presidential campaign organizatin over Palin's year and a half running Alaska ANY DAY. Obama's campaign machine will be studied by both parties for years. That is executive experience.

I agree she should have recognized the title and basics of Bush Doctrine. However, there is still wide ongoing debate among DC polticos on both sides of the aisle about the wisdom to proceed under the breadth of those guidelines.

All of the republicans on ABC's website are so angry at Charlie Gibson. They think he was unfair. Does anyone remember McCain hand-picked Gibson. I thought it was terrific. She's finally exposed.

Her confidence is an over estimate in her own abilities, which is truly frightening. I don't think anyone can be truly ready to be president, they need to learn the job. Sarah was mayor of a town of 9,000, cutting ribbons of new grocery stores, then governor of an oil rich state with less people than a mid-sized American city and she thinks she can run a country of over 300 million people? She never had to deal with diversity of people because Alaska is no were near a sample of the rest of the nation. No international experience? No thanks!!

I'd rather vote for the pitbull; at least a dog has enough sense not to bite off more then they can chew.

Oh boy. The Americans once again(2000/2004) has to make a very difficult decision about who to pick for President. Yes, the is an enormous burden.

    A. A war hero who happens to be in a very good position not to finish his term and leave the world's most power nation to a person who has been outside the country I believe once, knows precious little about economics, has a scary record on the environment, knows nothing about foriegn policy and oh yeah, has been gov. for about a minute.

    B. Barack Obama – I don't think I really think I need to say anthing more about him. Oh yeah, among his many accomplishments (I mean that in the most complimentary way) he was a community organizer.

Yep, hard choice. I'm sure the people around the globe are thinking "Boy I wouldn't want to have to be an American and make that decision".

People please, if you love this nation have the courage to do the right thing. Don't place it in the hands of a war monger and a person who probably needs at least two terms worth of experince before even uttering the words I'm fit to be vice or president.

    It's truly insane!!!

    Obama/Biden 2008

I am a proud supporter of a community organizer.

And if anyone else is, please let the media know in a blog or e-mail. I think they believe we are ashamed of that fact.

So instead of fighting two wars, she's open to starting a third one. She really scares me. Where are we supposed to get the people to fight the third war? Can anyone say draft? If you had any doubts about her qualifications you shouldn't have them anymore. No wonder they won't let her do interviews.
