Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

  1. REPUBLICANS FINALLY ACKNOWLEDGE REAL LEADERSHIP

    1. Obama has been stating that we should talk to all of our enemies, while Republicans called it "appeasement".

Now, Republicans have a U.S. representative at the Iranian talks.

    2. Obama has called for withdrawal timelines in Iraq, while Republicans called it "cut and run".

Now, Iraq will not sigh the NATO extension until the draft contains a specific timeline. Also, Republicans now have agreed to a "time horizon".

    3. Obama has stated the real war against terror is and has been in Afghanistan.

Now Republicans agree and state more troops should go to Afghanistan.

    4. Obama has been calling for change for 19 months.

Now the Republicans, are now the “agent of change” after a week, although they are not telling us how the next 4 will be different from the last 8.

Seems to me Obama has all the leadership skills that Republicans now wish they had. Obama certainly seems to be leading them around by the ring in their nose!

Saw the interview. She agrees that she has foreign policy experience because Russia is next to Alaska, you can even see Russia from some places there! She agrees that striking across the Pakistan border was necessary! I'm sure Pakistan doesn't agree. I'm seeing War Monger and War Mongeress, and no diplomacy mentioned anywhere.

CNN why is it there are only negative comments on Palin? I can answer that for you, your bias and will not allow positive comments to be posted. FYI for you, most everyone that has decided to vote for McCain and Palin, have made their minds up and you cannot change it. You are looking like fools, if you think that Obama can run this country. As for change did you forget about how bad of change we needed when Clinton was in office???? He is the reason for the mess Bush had to clean up. He is the reason this country became sooooo vulnerable. I guess your so selfish that in order for you to have something to report you need an idiot to be president ,run the country into the ground, and give you reason to get up in the mornings. Pretty sad!!! You may have some people fooled, but the smart people in this country are republicans, and nothing you say or do will change our minds. I bet you will not post this, will you????

If I were a multi million dollar business owner, I wouldn't be blogging on here – I would be off traveling or doing some good for people. This whole site is just a repeat of the way Hillary was treated by her own Dems who support Obama – they are unintelligent, rude and disgusting.

I think I've finally figured it out. McCain must be a closet Obama supporter. There is no other explanation for Palin-stein.

That interview was ridiculous. Kudos to Charlie for not throwing her softballs.

And her two trips outside of the US to Mexico and Canada? I almost busted a gut. Let me guess ... her sister has a timeshare in Cancun and she took a cruise from Alaska that stopped somewhere in Canada.

She didn't hesitate to accept John McCain's offer. You mean she didn't discuss it with her family. Maybe she just said, "That's hot!"

Look at all these blogs in a matter of minutes all attacking Gov. Palin. Obama never gives a straight answer about anything. She looks much more qualified than Obama and he has had 19 months to practice. UUH UUH UUH.

THAT is what you got out of the interview? No mention of her not having any clue what the Bush Doctrine was or that we may have to go to war with Russia?

What is happening to the media in this country?? This woman is going to be a 72-year old heartbeat from the presidency and we're worried about hurting her feelings? WAKE UP!

    And as long as I have a forum to voice my opinion, you'll hear this;
All of you who voted for Bush in the last two elections and then have the audacity to expect ANYONE to give your opinions credence are nutso whack-jobs at best.

  13. Unqualified Hockey Mom

Hey CNN, why didn't you say anything about the part where she had no clue what the Bush Doctrine is?? I'm a Hockey Mom, who is by no means qualified to be VP, but I know what the Bush Doctrine is!!! Oh, and didn't you love the part where her national defense qualifications include that "you can see Russia from Alaska". I've seen Egypt from the air. Guess that makes me an expert on Egypt.

Holy cow, this woman is terrifying.

    Post this CNN!

I will take a confident woman who jumps at the opportunity to be my vice president and potential Commander in Chief any day over a man who questions whether he was the best choice for the job. Confidence is important and I would rather she demonstrate it then tell everyone that Romney is more qualified than her.

    ___________

Remember one thing Sir. These Are elected PUBLIC SERVANTS!!!! This is not something that should be taken without consideration! So showing some humility is a good thing, it is never a bad thing to questions ones self, to truly examine ones self, to make sure you can do the job. Not Blinking only indicates a self-serving, almost complacent attitude.

Have you heard Palin's speech, when she arrived back home to Alaska?

Why hasn't the media picked up on her wrong use of the word "Regime"? Listen carefully. Watch her mouth as she enunciates the word. It is scary that this lady could become the next VP or President of the United States. What is her education level? Evidently she just repeats what the speech writers tell her, without actually knowing what she is saying??? Do the American people really want such an uneducated, naive person as CEO of this country? Would you hire someone for a foreign policy job when they don’t even know what "Regime change" means? If so, I guess the American people deserve what they get, a failed nation, run by greedy Corporations and Oil companies. I am sure the founding fathers are rolling over in their graves.

So much for Land of the Free. Just Brave & Stupid.

I cannot get over the ignorance in attacking the experience of a sitting governor on a ticket as VP, while the "Freshman Senator" whose experience is zilch, says what he thinks all the little intresest groups each want to hear is at the top of their ticket...a left wing president with a left wing congress = socialist welfare state.

    She won't blink when:
She drops a "nucular" bomb on IRAQ
She drops a "nucular" bomb on IRAN
She drops a "nucular" bomb on NORTH KOREA
She drops a "nucular" bomb on RUSSIA

A president who does not think before she acts is extremely terrifying.

Liberals keep making this same mistake which will cost them the election. They keep bringing up petty and stupid drivel about Palin and the media keeps putting her back in the spotlight which in turn, drives up McSames ratings. Obama will lose, dems don't have a clue right now except try to dig up dirt on Palin which is a bad strategy.

I saw the clip that aired tonight. Look out America! She's miserable. Not scary, just a terribly incompetent woman. You ladies out there should be really pissed at McBush for setting her up like this! She's not qualified.

Judging by her arrogance and position on Creationism, the comment about her is not that far off. Why are reporters letting her off the hook? We need to sick Coleman Brown on her to drill her with questions about her stance on Creationism and her extremist views... this kind of anti-science position is in direct conflict with the advancement of our country.

OF COURSE NOT, look at the MILLIONS she made off alaska, she's just wrining her hands in excitement at the thought of all the money she can fleece from ALL of the states!!!!

she is sooooo phenomenally underqualified and crooked, i still cant fathom her selection is real!!!!

before you vote for this pro-life, abstinence (yeah, cuz it worked so well in HER family), crazy-church fool...i was gonna say PLEASE RESEARCH ON YOUR OWN, but that goes against the fundamental principles of the right-wing party, so i'll just say PLEASE TAKE 3 OR 4 AMBIEN ON THE MORNING OF NOVEMBER 4TH!

Doesn't McCain's wife run her family's company? It may be up to Cindy-Lou Who to run the country if her husband and this nut get elected.

McSenile can still keep himself busy. During commercial breaks on Judge Judy, he can go outside and yell at kids skateboarding in front of the White House. Hopefully, he won't get caught in one of the traps the Palins will put out to catch critters for their dinner.

Missy Sarah, and all the other Palin women-folk, can hang diapers on the clothesline she'll string up in front of the VP's residence. Then she can dust the mooseheads hanging on the walls. The Palin menfolk can drink beer in front of the VP residence, while leaning on one of the many broken-down cars in the driveway.

Yessiree, bob, this is a good choice. America is movin' on up!!!

  24. Hockey mom in Michigan

Can I ask why so many are sneering at the fact the Sarah Palin is a hockey mom? As far as I'm concerned hockey mom is a code word for 'woman'. So by insulting her for being a hockey mom (interpretation: woman) you're insulting all women, that's going to put off alot of female Hillary supporters and independent women.

Don't forget she's also a Governor! And has more executive experience than Obama.

Confidence and commitment are one thing. Competence is another.
This woman scares the heck out of me. Fools march in where angels fear to tread.
Sounds like Mrs. Palin would march right in to perform open-heart surgery if she felt “called to serve and committed to the mission or purpose.” I think she is probably just as qualified to perform open-heart surgery as she is to lead this country. She has qualifications for neither. Wake up America.
