Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

She didn't hesitate? That right there doesn't say much about HER judgment! The more I learn about her, the less impressed I am. She's a real ditz but a ditz with more confidence than a ditz should have.

John McCain must be out of his mind!

She didn't blink huh? She really should have put a little more thought and energy into this decision. Pithy little soundbites are not going to cut it on the international stage.

I wager that 95% of you had no idea what the Bush Doctrine was or that such a thing even existed before tonight. Given Bush's approval rating, I would have thought that was a doctrine that people wouldn't care to know. I guess when there isn't much mud to sling around desperation calls for making some of your own.

  7. Whoa......

John is a cad, and Sarah is a joke. Wake up America, SHE IS NOT READY AND WON'T BE ON DAY ONE OR DAY ONE THOUSAND AND ONE. Don't put this woman anywhere near the White House, or it will be our downfall.

John will be in a coma somewhere, and Sarah will be pretending to be in charge.

    No overambitious person will.
but a sensible woman should know she ought to take care of a 5-year old kid with special need rather than power grabbing.

  9. Wow

This is more serious than I thought. I think the country should take a deep breath and rethink this decision. What could John have been thinking?

I love my country more than I want the GOP to win. She is not ready, and I'm glad I'm an Independent.

  13. The Truth Will Set America Free From Palin

Republicans call revealing the TRUTH, an attack, but stated lies and making commercials of lies as even confirmed by the different news stations is perfectly okay. We will not be intimidated or controlled nor will be back down or run away. We will stand for Obama/Biden, and for Truth and for the American people who are fed up with 8 years of lies deceit, struggles, tragedies, job losses, foreclosures, high gas prices, high food prices, no trickle down, insensitive government to the American hurts and McCain statement that it was a mental recession.

We are not weak is spirit or in Number and Obama/Biden will win.

I just watched the interview and there were a few things I noticed. Palin seemed angry and defensive and was giving the standard line she had been given to memorize. I also think I saw Charlie, close his eyes in thought while she was going on. I think he looked frustrated when she wouldn't answer his questions with straight forward answers. So much for the straight talk express. Another thing I noticed was there was no thought to her 5 month old baby or her pregnant daughter when asked to be VP. As a mother I would have had to think about it more for my disabled baby. That has always concerned me. Palin is of course a woman out for herself, no one should try and stand in her way whether your a librarian, state trooper or 5 month old baby that will need it's mother.

Saying you are ready is one thing but saying WHY and HOW you are ready is quite another issue, one that she conveniently dodged.

McCain, Obama and Biden have all answered why and how to this question in interviews and on the campaign trail, but not Palin. That's something to be concerned about and something I am not willing to risk on a VP candidate who might end up being President someday.

McCain I thought you had good judgement but not after this interview.

  20. Just typing "Post this, CNN" or typing in all caps doesn't mean u have a clue

I'm ashamed to say that this whole thing is a set up to get Biden to underprepare for debates.

She comes across as incredibly arrogant and small-minded. How can a potential president even consider going to war with Russia over Georgia when the result would be a global nuclear catastrophe on a scale she can't possibly comprehend??? That and saying the Iraq war is part of Gods plan is pretty scary stuff. That rivals Dubya's claim that God wanted him to be president.

PLEASE KEEP THIS WOMAN AWAY FROM THE BUTTON!!!

I can't see Ms. Palin running the country if something should happen to McCain. The VP of USA has much responsibility.

I can't see her making decisions for this country if she were faced with other political leaders. They would chew her up and spit her out.

The way she is attacking Obama is very juvenile but she's blaming him so we don't see her faults. True christians don't behave in this manner. She appears to be very deceitful and spiteful. I just don't trust her.

She needs to discuss health care and how to get the economy back in order and stop attacking Obama.

  24. Appropriate Day

I think this day was so appropriate to remind us how serious the presidency and the vice presidency is.

I'm so glad we had a chance to hear Sarah. Now it's time to get serious and elect Barack Obama for president.
