Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

Why would she blink or question or even think about it – just when she opens her mouth.... it takes not mind at all. The republicans like the spunk but downplay the swipes and direct attacks. We as a Country don't need Mavericks we need A President!

Did anybody else notice she didn't know what the Bush Doctrine was?

When asked if she agreed with it, she asked "in what respect?".

Gibson explained it to her (That the U.S. has the right to attack preemptively) and she stumbled to give an answer without a yes or no.

She has no clue on any of the issues. It was scary.

When asked if Israel were to attack Iran preemptively, would she support them. She THREE times refused a yes or no answer.

The fact that all these politicians consider her a wacko make me like her even more.

She's got to be doing something right if a collective bunch of people who are only approved of <20% of the time think she's wrong.

If McCain truly cared about the welfare of Americans he would not have put this foolish lady in a position to be one heartbeat away from the presidency.

She reminded me of George W. Bush.
She can talk about it, but she does not understand any of it.

Oh Ms. Palin, I have that wiring too...if only McCain would have asked ME...I too have a child with Down Syndrome AND I finished my college degree in four years!

Oh that's right, I am not a deluded, narcissitic politician and I KNOW that I would make a terrible POTUS.

America, could we, for the first time in eight years, elect someone with more intelligence that the guy/girl next door? Sheesh!

It's nice to know that McCoward and Pansy finally gave the media access.

I can't wait to see the grapefruits Gibson is going to throw at her and watch her hit them out of the park.

I'm sure her handlers will be in the edit room as well in case she does put her foot in her lipstick-covered mouth.

How much longer can they allow her and McCain to be protected from the press? I watched McCain in an interview today and he couldn't even answer the questions asked.

Sorry state of affairs on the GOP side of the house.

I just caught snippets of the interview on the ABC evening news. Two immediate thoughts: I wonder if anyone else caught that she referred to the president of Iran several times as Akmadinijad (its Ahmadinijad)? And she kept saying the we shouldn't "hesitate to blink." Does that mean she and McCain wouldn't "hesitate to think" before reacting to a crisis?

I don't think that her answers were any worse than Senator Obama stumbling all over himself while being interviewed by either Rick Warren, or Bill O'Reilly. Sure there was some uneasiness in some of her answers, but I have seen the same uneasiness and worse from Senator Obama, and he is running for the Presidency, not the Vice-Presidency.

Truth be told, I believe that she is exactly what this nation needs, especially at this critical time in our nation.

Just watched Sarah Palin with Charlie Gibson. Here are my impressions.

She memorized as much as she could and kind of whined the responses which were peppered with lots of "Charlies".

She flunked foreign affairs completely and tried to divert the questioning to energy...it didn't work.

Her references to Russia were both frightening and laughable.

Her references to God's plan in relation to the war were again frightening.

She didn't even know what "Bush's doctrine" was. I didn't either, but I am not running for Vice President.

Charlie was much tougher than I imagined and she did much worse than I imagined. No wonder they kept her locked up.

Can't wait for more tomorrow. This barely scratches the surface.
