Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.
"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.
"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

This wasn't an interview but rather an attempt to discredit and demean Sarah Palin.
Gibson , once again has shown that journalism is truly finished in America.
He was disrespectful and while Palin did alright , Gibson certainly didn't measure up.

I saw the Palin interview with Charlie Gibson.
She only gave prepared answers that she was coached on.
Who, I ask, is going to be coaching her every day in the Oval office?
This woman knows nothing about America and is not ready to lead.

This woman accepted the VP for the attention...had nothing to do with being able to take over. That Alaska paper said "no she is not no where near ready to take over the country." Wake up America.

She is a very frightening lady! Americans need to pay attention to this response. We don't want a President or Vice President who "doesn't blink....that is a knee jerk reaction and that can affect one's judgement to blow us off the face of the earth by attacking countries because she feels she has received a message from God. How is this thinking any different than suicide bombers and terrorists. I'm sure they are so driven they would use the same kind of thinking process. THis woman should never be so close to the top as to be making decisions on our behalf. People wake up.
Also, she needs to be interviewed alone, non scripted, and without Carl Rove and others guiding her. She needs to be asked about the major issues.

The forum with McCain and Obama was almost word for word so how are these candidates actually different other than Obama raising taxes to pay for his tax cuts now that makes alot of sense.
She should have hesitated. She should have realized that the country would be better served with someone with the vision to be successful, who received the nomination, not on the basis of her sex and the electorate she could attract, but because she was the absolute best candidate to help the country get on the right track.
I think she showed poor judgement in terms of what is truly best for the country.
To be asked to be the Vice President, potentially the President of the most powerful country in the world and you don't pause... you are not confident; you are either narcisistic or a self-absorbed opportunist.
As an evangelical Chrictian, this gave me as much pause as anything. I find this difficult to believe. This is troubling because if she makes other major decisions with this much thought, this country could be in serious trouble with her as commander in chief.

Palin should have said to McCain; Thanks, but no thanks to the VP position. Now, all of her family and personal business is being aired all over the world. We are only hearing from Palin are statements/comments written by the McCain campaign. Palin claims that she doesn't like women to whine in politics then she should quit being a puppet and only say what is scripted for her to say. This makes her look weak and incompetent. Remember, first impressions last and the impression that I have of her is low. Clinton supporters should be highly insulted. Clinton campaigned for 18 months and generated her own supporters. Now, Palin feels that she is entitled to those supporters when she didn't do the work to get them. Palin has been on the McCain campaign for two weeks, and people still don't know anything about her other than she can read, lie and isn't talking or speaking for herself. That's it in a nutshell. So far, I would give Palin a failing grade.
I think she needs to learn some humility and obviously doesn't yet appreciate the magnitude of the responsibility she is running for. To say she has no doubts at all is scary as we've all had doubts about taking big steps even when we knew it was the right thing to do. Frankly, I found that kind of "absolutely no doubts" response somewhat dehumanizing, offputting and more than a little scary when you consider the radical fanaticism and lack of humility it takes to say that in her positioin.
