Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

This wasn't an interview but rather an attempt to discredit and demean Sarah Palin.
Gibson , once again has shown that journalism is truly finished in America.
He was disrespectful and while Palin did alright , Gibson certainly didn't measure up.

You mean you didn't even consider your pregnant 17 year old or your newborn with down syndrome. I think even a MAN would have considered his family first. Oh i'm sorry is that sexist?

McCain and Palin are both frauds, trying to deceive the American people into believing they want to provide what the American people want when they are in fact in lockstep with Bush.

I still can't get over the fact that both McCain and Palin are citing Alaska's proximity to Russia as proof of foreign policy credentials. That's just hilarious!!!!

I saw the Palin interview with Charlie Gibson.
She only gave prepared answers that she was coached on.

Who, I ask, is going to be coaching her every day in the Oval office?

This woman knows nothing about America and is not ready to lead.

McCain ought to be ashamed of himself for hiding behind this woman of no substance.

He used to be so proud…but that was long long ago.

Do we really deserve four more years of this kind of incompetent leadership and shooting from the hip instead of steady judgement?

Aside from many of her answers... She just seemed angry to me.. You see, "Charlie". I didn't understand her aggressive tone. She was on the defensive for NO reason??

I thought she did great tonight. Remember the expression on Senator Obama's face when Tim Russett ask Hillary to name the President of Russia. Even Lou Dobbs showed the clip on his show saying you could tell he did not know the answer. What was wrong with Charles Gibson and his attitude?

I don't think it is fair of you to misslead the American people who have childigren who are are the front line fighting for a war you voted for. We all know that your son will be well guarded and he will more than likely be so far on the backline that he will not see the true side of this war.

Hahahha this from a woman who doesnt even know Bush's doctrine hahahahah. This woman knows nothing of foreign policy is obvious now why McCain picked her. Also...yep you cant blink Alaskan paper said yesterday she uses snap judgements and gut feelings to make decisions...does not think them out...just what we need in the White House if she has to take over. This woman accepted the VP for the attention...had nothing to do with being able to take over. That Alaska paper said "no she is not no where near ready to take over the country." Wake up America.

If the next president of this great nation asked you for your help in leading and protecting this nation ... what would your answer be?

Better a little inexperience in a VP than a radical, socialist, terrorist loving Prez nominee on top of the ticket.

Obama for POTUS? You must be Deef!!!

She is a very frightening lady! Americans need to pay attention to this response. We don't want a President or Vice President who "doesn't blink....that is a knee jerk reaction and that can affect one's judgement to blow us off the face of the earth by attacking countries because she feels she has received a message from God. How is this thinking any different than suicide bombers and terrorists. I'm sure they are so driven they would use the same kind of thinking process. THis woman should never be so close to the top as to be making decisions on our behalf. People wake up.

Also, she needs to be interviewed alone, non scripted, and without Carl Rove and others guiding her. She needs to be asked about the major issues.

The comments here are really funny. Your liberals must be really nervous because your replies like her mouth moving and nothing coming out is the only thing you can debate with. The forum with McCain and Obama was almost word for word so how are these candidates actually different other than Obama raising taxes to pay for his tax cuts now that makes alot of sense.

She should have hesitated. She should have realized that the country would be better served with someone with the vision to be successful, who received the nomination, not on the basis of her sex and the electorate she could attract, but because she was the absolute best candidate to help the country get on the right track.

I think she showed poor judgement in terms of what is truly best for the country.

To be asked to be the Vice President, potentially the President of the most powerful country in the world and you don't pause... you are not confident; you are either narcisistic or a self-absorbed opportunist.

As an evangelical Chrictian, this gave me as much pause as anything. I find this difficult to believe. This is troubling because if she makes other major decisions with this much thought, this country could be in serious trouble with her as commander in chief.

So since everyone was giving her a hard time for asking – What exactly does a VP do everyday, you would think they'd have taught her all about VP's now.

And today she says.. I'm sure several VPs in history would not have ever met a foreign head of state before being elected. ehhh.... wrong! Atleast not in the last 30 yrs.

No wonder they had trouble selling the jet, it was probably full of rust. Stop comparing yourself to a woman of the world like Hillary.

Please step down Sarah, this ain't the PTA.

Palin should have said to McCain; Thanks, but no thanks to the VP position. Now, all of her family and personal business is being aired all over the world. We are only hearing from Palin are statements/comments written by the McCain campaign. Palin claims that she doesn't like women to whine in politics then she should quit being a puppet and only say what is scripted for her to say. This makes her look weak and incompetent. Remember, first impressions last and the impression that I have of her is low. Clinton supporters should be highly insulted. Clinton campaigned for 18 months and generated her own supporters. Now, Palin feels that she is entitled to those supporters when she didn't do the work to get them. Palin has been on the McCain campaign for two weeks, and people still don't know anything about her other than she can read, lie and isn't talking or speaking for herself. That's it in a nutshell. So far, I would give Palin a failing grade.

I think she needs to learn some humility and obviously doesn't yet appreciate the magnitude of the responsibility she is running for. To say she has no doubts at all is scary as we've all had doubts about taking big steps even when we knew it was the right thing to do. Frankly, I found that kind of "absolutely no doubts" response somewhat dehumanizing, offputting and more than a little scary when you consider the radical fanaticism and lack of humility it takes to say that in her positioin.
