Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

This week and maybe next week will mark McCain's high water mark in this campaign. Even at the high water mark it is questionable as to whether he can win an electoral victory. It is only down hill for McCain from here. The shine is going to wear off of Palin. Expect a decent sized electoral victory for Obama. Popular vote could go for McCain, but he will clearly loose in th electoral college.

Pundits are talkin about Obama winning Ohio. If Obama wins Ohio, McCain has absolutely no chance whatsoever. This thing is not as close as people want to believe.

In my view, Mrs. Palin's current family crisis (pregnant daughter and newborn) is sure to have a psychological impact on the Governor and her family.

McCain, 72, was pretty clear that he deserves to be the President. Hopefully, he will retire now.

You didn't blink? I'm betting that while McCain was asking you he blinked enough to make up for the both of you! 🙂

Why not investigate an inexperienced politician who is only good at accummulating $ 1 billions in earmark over 4 years of his short political career?
Obama gets a discount of $300,000 for his $1.95 million dollar house with help from corrupt slum lord, Rezko. Housing violations in 11 housing projects of Rezko in Obama's constituency goes ignored.
Rezko is mentored by racist preacher...Jeremiah Wright who liberally use the word, God for the wrong purpose on the pulpit.

What's with the jumps in the editing. It's like some questions and answers were oddly truncated.

She didn't know what the Bush Doctrine was, so she responded with a question looking for a clue: "In what respect, Charlie?"

Tomorrow she has to prepare for five minutes of Economy statements

More tough questioning is required from the media in interviews going forward. No fluff stuff please! Let's see if they dumb down the VP debate to accommodate her. Will she agree to be interviewed by Bill O'Reilly? Would he hold her feet to the fire? I have my doubts.

She ran away from her own unambiguous comments about God's Plan, which makes her akin to a modern day Judas. This is who we are seriously considering to perhaps be leader of our country? Have we lost our collective minds?

    I just heard her interview.

She sounds like a computerized robot continually being fed information through a USB port (more like a parallel port) attached to her brain from a laptop of a slow typing McCain campaign adviser. I think that adviser needs to learn to type faster.

She seemed to be very uncomfortable answering questions, I really question her readiness for being the potential POTUS. I feel McCain made a very irresponsible choice of picking her for the job. McCain is going to lose this election due to his cynicism. What a joke!!!

And let those haters from the Obama side soil this thread too.

I am sure for every intelligent Obama supporter there are may more haters.

The Dems are getting the reputation of being the party of the intolerant and hate filled stereotypes spreaders.

You do it to yourselves its ironic how they not only throw the mud but throw it by the bucket full but they only dirty themselves

You are hurting you parties reputation and loosing respect but I am sure this will be, just another, in a long list of things you will blame on the right.

As I watch the Sarah Palin interview I wonder why ABC New felt it was necessary to edit Mrs. Palin answers to the questions. It was clear her full statements were not included in this interview. ABC News should allow the viewers to decide what is important information and what we should filter out. As a major network I did not expect this from ABC. As women we should not receive special treatment because we're women. We must learn how to play with the big boys!

well she said so her self "I dont know even what a vice president does"! Thats why this is her first interview so johnny boy could give her a crash course on how to answer questions. McCain will not let her out of her sight and he is always over her shoulder when she is addressing the audience and boy does he look nervous..Oh gosh please dont say anything to screw this up...In time her inexperience will show and she will slip up, and then she can claim the bridge to nowhere...for her self. She might not blink, but she still doesn't have the credentials or experience to be a heartbeat away from the Oval Office.

    Antichoice
    Anti-birth control
Advocate of banning books from public libraries
Queen of Ear Marks and pork barrel spending
Against the Bridge to Nowhere (after she realized it wasn't vogue to be for the bridget) YET KEPT THE CASH AFTER SHE SAID NO THANKS.
    Pro big oil
Thinks we are performing "god's will" in Iraq

Wrong for America. No experience. What she does believe in is terrifying.

Well, Palin should have blinked quite a few times and thought about her daughter Bristol and that adorable 5 month old baby before she said yes to McCain.

Is it just me, or did she begin answering Mr. Gibson's questions before he could almost get them out? Her responses to the interview questions came accross as though she had been given the questions way ahead of time and had scripted most of her answers. Gov. Palin doesn't appear to be much of a thinker and seems to throw caution to the wind. Just what we need-another NO BRAINER running the country!
