Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

She handled the questions like a Miss America contestant, not a candidate for the second highest office in the land.

I just gave up all hope on the Republicans answering ANY QUESTIONS ON ISSUES before November!

Sarah Palin looked like she wanted to hit Charlie Gibson in the face throughout the whole thing. Her body language was that of an young boxer in the ring with the world's champion...verbally ducking and weaving questions, throwing feints in between commas, and praying the bell would sound in time to end the round. When pressed for direct answers, she blocked as best she could.

Bottom line....this woman now officially scares the living begeezus out of me.
McCain would have done better hiring a temp.

  4. Help Us ALL!!

I read somewhere that McCain is sending a team to Alaska to help with the journalist digging up dirt on her.

Well... what are they gonna do?? A huge Government Coverup??

I bet she went back and started shredding evidence!!

I read the excerpts from her interview and she doesn't even know what the "BUSH DOCTRINE" is . Which is to preemptive strike our enemies at any time if we perceive an eminent threat.
I think this is something our VP should know

Democrats attacking Palin is just what the republicans want.
Instead of attacking her character attack the failed policies she endorses.
    failed economic policies
    failed national security policies
    failed energy policies
    failed education policies
    failed health care policies
Palin and McCain support the same Bush policies that have driven this country to the verge of disaster.
This is what we need to keep reminding our fellow Americans of everyday until the election!!
We can not afford 4 more years of failure!!

Speaking of blinking, the sign that someone is lying, watch McCain speak. He has been blinking non-stop every time he speaks lately.

I guess his conscience is getting to him.

Secondly, anyone who would accept the second highest office in the nation without discussing it with their family is a power hungry person and someone with impulsive behavior. Not a good quality for this serious of a position of power.

    Ouch!!!

I want a vice president who is better, wiser, well-traveled, has met world leaders, who three months ago had an opinion on Iraq. Someone who doesn't repeat bald- faced lies about earmarks and the Bridge to Nowhere.

"Victory in the war". Hasn't Palin listen to the latest coming from top commanders who stated "we can't kill our way to victory", apparently not. Palin didn't blink because it appears she doesn't think things through, just responds irresponsibily. Americans are done with irresponsible thinking because it hasn't ended a war we should have never started and it has all but destroy our economy. You would think Palin would have asked questions but then again why should she, McCain only asked her one question after meeting her two times. So what we have is two dead heads.

She is a wonderful and wise woman with strong family values. What more could we want in a V.P? ? Too bad so many don't appreciate this.

Hpw does an individual make such a profound decision without a blink.......no thought went behind the enormous task at hand. So this is what her 3.am call would sound like........ring ring.....Palin.....nuke them. Hang up! She did not have to blink cause her eyes were closed!!! Very scary.....very very scary. This canidate has no regard for anything other then power.....

Sarah Palin had said when asked shortly after accepting the offer to be McCain's running mate, that she was suprised, that she did not even prepare an acceptance speach, because she did not think she would be the one he offered the spot too. I would love to hear her reasons as to why she felt she was not going to be asked to be McCain's running mate.
Maybe because she knew that she was not the most qualified of the possible choices that he had?

She's ready? From the day he asked? She has any inkling of foreign policy? Global politics? Military defense? She says you focus on the mission. Gee, let's not let reality get in the way of the mission. Let's not actually THINK. This is just like the junk science she supports - don't let facts actually affect your dogma.

I honestly believe that by 20th January 2009, with all the after hours coaching, tutoring and lessons being given to Sarah Palin by white house/McCain advisers, she will be absolutely ready for the job. Hopefully after being sworn in we should start the Iran and Russian war at the same time. If we could vote Bush twice, why not Palin? It will take America a generation or if we are lucky just 60 years to learn not to vote based on stupid excitements, sentiments and emotions. Am with with Sarah! Up Sarah, hip! hip hip!

Prior to accepting the VP position, she had no idea what the VP did. Good to see such an informed decision....why blink when you don't what you are doing.

  16. MarioB. from Berlin FOR OBAMA

    nice sarah mcFailin....
THE SAME OLD BUSH-staff was teaching you, what to answer... come on...this interview is a farce...she was exactly tought, what to say. It's not her real views... it's a shame, this puppet is VP-candidate...

Obame 08... The REAL man, the REAL leader, the fixer of REAL problems and the man that is focussing at REAL ISSUES!!!

And come on Guys... forget about experience... what about a Lincoln, what about a Clinton. They got marked as inexperienced, too but became GREAT presidents!

Great, just what America needs TWO hot heads that act first and then ask the questions for justification. One that "shoots from the hip"(loose cannon) and that considers "not blinking"(needs a opthomoligical appointment) is now a qualification for running the country? YIKES!

This ticket is looking more like the "Bush doctrine" everyday.

Hopefully, while in the "cone of silence" they have briefed her on the duties of the VP. Now they can start on the "Bush doctrine".

    GGEEEZZZZ!

  18. Concern Voter

This campaign should be about the issues not people's personalities and i don't think Ms
Palin is not ready yet. How can you not think about being a vp candidate to really make sure that you and your family is really for this leap. This is not a game this is serious. I know she is a woman but people "vote" on the issues not personalities because if McCain dies she would be a heartbeat from the Presidency.

Didn't she stop to think about her family and the incredible impact her decision would have on them? or if she was even ready, espeially in light of the fact that she is not experienced or at all schooled in foreign policy...if this is a reflection of how she'll make decisions in the White House...then, America be prepared for some craziness for sure!

All I got from the clips I heard was more vision of WAR WAR WAR
and victory at what cost ! thousands of more troops killed and maimed and the economy lower than it is which would be the sewer
    and people in food lines!!

If they ever got in power and she got to be president and the 3 am call came she would say its *its Gods war let him take care of it*
its one scarry thought this woman would be a heartbeat away from the presidency

Doesn't surprise me. Someone so cocky and arrogant would indeed think they can take on the world – that is, until they understand the world...

  24. Big-Haired Problem

I guess Queenie didn't hesitate. Would you? if some fool told you that you could be the VP and you didn't have to know anything because they'd keep you from the press, you'd take that job too. She has nothing to lose, as long as he doesn't die. If he wins the election, easy street, she'll just travel the world. If he loses the election, she'll be more famous and run when she really gets some experience. If he dies...well then HOUSTON, WE HAVE A PROBLEM. A big-haired problem.

    America deserves a serious candidate

Guess Obama was CORRECT yet again on another of many foreign policies! Yet no one will admit it!!!!
