Palin says she didn't hesitate to take VP slot

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/09/11/palin.abc/art.palinalaska.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Sarah Palin arrived back in Alaska on Wednesday night."](CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says she "didn't blink" when Sen. John McCain offered her the Republican vice presidential nomination and is confident she could handle the duties of president if necessary.

"I answered him yes, because I have the confidence in that readiness and knowing that you can't blink," Palin told ABC News in her first interview since accepting the No. 2 slot on the GOP ticket.

"You have to be wired in a way of being so committed to the mission, the mission that we're on - reform of this country and victory in the war. You can't blink. So I didn't blink then even when asked to run as his running mate," she said.

If she had the experience, she would have taken the time to think over it and gracefully said that she is not qualified for the job.

WHO WOULD NOT TAKE 24-HOURS TO RUN THIS NEW JOB OPPORTUNITY BY THEIR FAMILY FIRST??

    Think People!!

You have just been asked to consider taking a new position as Vice President of the United States of America. The position is one-heartbeat away from Commander-in-Chief, thereby putting you eye-to-eye with Putin and dozens of other adversaries wishing you ill-will.

    – – – Honestly, what would a wise and discerning person do?
    (a.) – Don't blink and say I'll take it without thoughtful consideration, or;
(b.) – Tell McCain that you need at least 24-hours to process the issues, and give your family some time to consider the changes and sacrifices they will have to make for the next 4-to-8 years.

You would have thought that her little helpers would have taught her what the Bush Doctrine is. Guess not. She most likely spent her time studying foreign policy by looking at Russia from Alaska since that seems to mean that your experienced. She scares me more and more.

I have sent a beloved son to war in Baghdad Iraq, The day that He left us was heart breaking. It was a private hell . I can't understand how any one let alone a mother of a soldier could possible carry on as usual while her son boards a plane to a war that is a lie. She must be a lot stronger than me or could it be that she knows full well that her child will not be in harms way like the rest of our men? Either way Mrs. Palin I hope you get to get your son back so that you can hear his voice or just look at him , when he doesn't know your watching. There are over 4000 who will not have that pleasure for this war that you support. Think that over Sarah.

  7. UNQUALIFIED

Isn't "thinking before you act" the correct thing to do Especially when making big decisions. This country is not a game, we are in a real war and this economy is in a real mess: YOU DEAR should have used BETTER JUDGEMENT when asked if you would like to help run this country.

Joe, American Airman, & Unintelligent Voters,

Stop drinking the kool aid! I am a multi million dollar business owner with more employees than she has in Alaska. I know more foreign policy, economic issues, the stock market, the housing market, etc... than that sorry excuse for a VP. I would have aced that interview along with many more intelligent voters out there. I guess she did not practice as much for the interview as she has done for the speech she keeps reciting like a broken record traveling with the old man. Just a trick and pony show! You guys must be drunk, stupid, or mentally unstable to vote for McBush & and the cheap sideshow.

Of course you have self confidence when everything you do is "God's work" and you are part of "God's plan". Her responses are exactly why she isn't qualified for the vice presidency or the presidency. We've seen what happens when we elect a President who believes he has direct communication with God then launches military action with no plan for victory. She exhibits the same lack of understanding and won't avail herself to the press so we can determine just how she thinks. It's one thing to give speeches with punchy lines that get an emotional reaction but that isn't what happens in the situation room at the White House. Remember Dick Cheny wanting to shoot down civilian aircraft on 9/11? Stop hiding Sarah and open yourself up to interviews, talk shows, and give an in depth speech on a topic of interest to others than your conservative base . Doesn't the fact her first interview is with "People" magazine tell you something?

Too bad we aren't as confident!!!!! Sarah Palin is the biggest political joke I have ever seen. I am sick of turning on the tv and hearing her name! It is such wasted energy in light of the important issues affecting the American people. Why can't anyone see that this is the McCain campaign trying to deflect the attention from important issues????? What is with the idea of trying to make the candidates into everyday people? I want to look up to my President as someone more intelligent than the normal everyday person. I don't think we want a hockey mom running the country!

wow, they use to talk about the angry white male... from what i just saw, those guys should run for cover. She really seems like an angry women. I know... If I were running for office I would have to retract that statement because the Rove gang would call it sexist. But come on America, she had no idea about the Bush doctrine, and got really upset that she was called on it. Maybe she shoud wait 8 years and take on Hillary.

It's true that Obama often hesitates during an interview or debate, but his answers are well-thought out. He just needs that extra second to pull all the information together.

What's important is what comes out of the mouth after the hesitation. That can show wisdom and judgment, or ignorance and recklessness.

"Arent you the same Republicans that criticized Obama for Saying he would bomb Pakistan if he had intelligence of where Osama was????????"

Your hate has blinded you to not being able to see what is different between attacking the terrorists and Pakistan.

Its the misunderstanding of what your own presidential pick meant is what scares me so much about you hate filled drones on the left. And you lack of sound reasoning and ability to check your own facts.
You reguritate what you hear but lack the ability to open your minds. Your partisan bias view of the world is clouding your ability to think.

Sen Obama at least sees the danger of going after Gov Palins religious beliefs, her family, HIS OWN hate ignorant followers don't even listen to him.

And you are proud of this, why?

What is a Hockey Mom VP or President going to do for you or our country?

I mean really.... What do Hockey Moms, Moose/Wolf Hunters and Pitbulls with lipstick have to do with anything?

This whole thing has become one big joke....

Obviously the Democrats are not aware who is running for President. Where do these ding-bat Republicans come from?? All the more reason not to vote for Obama. They all seem to know more than Palin!!! How do these people become qualify to speak negative against Palin? Sounds like most of them either work for Obama or still in high school or less. They sound like a pile of kids with nothing else to do Regardless, of who McCain had picked for the V.P. they would be complaining. I say get a life!!

  19. McPalin or Manchurian Canidate?

Geez, after watching parts of her interview with Charlie, I thought for a moment that one of my kids had left the manchurian candidate in the cd-rom. Does anyone agree, or am I just a paranoid Denzell Washington?

She will never make it. There is more to this investigation than meets the eye. The 1100 memo's she won't release? Why was she cc'd them to her husband? Was he co-governor? What was really going on?

She thought by running mate, he meant someone to jog with.

Seriously though... I would much rather have a president who takes the time to think things through. An analytical mind over an impulsive one any day. Palin sounds like much more of a Bush clone that McCain.

I can just picture her first interview.... I would not hesitate to bomb the Iran, and the Russia, and... like... such as....

    Politics makes funny bedfellows! ๐Ÿ™

The Clinton's wanted Obama to lose before Governor Palin became Senator McCain's best choice for VP.

Governor Palin outshines both Obama and Hillary! And, will make an excellent president after Senator McCain! ๐Ÿ™‚

Former democrat and Hillary supporter for McCain/Palin 08! They will deliver the authentic reform America can believe in! And, they will do it with integrity! ๐Ÿ™‚

She's plucky, edgy, was very well rehearsed with shallow pat non-answers, too many "Charlies", has no grasp of foreign affairs and tried to make everything about energy, particulary Alaska oil, cause that's all she knows.

There is such a thing as too much confidence. She had a glare and and intensity in her eyes that, frankly, not only turn me off but makes me very afraid.
