Rove to Obama: Attacking Palin is dumb

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Karl Rove is offering unsolicited campaign advice to Obama ."]

(CNN) - Karl Rove is again offering unsolicited advice to Barack Obama, this time advising the Democratic presidential nominee to avoid attacking Sarah Palin directly if he hopes to win the White House in November.

“It's a match-up he'll lose," Rove writes Thursday in his regular Wall Street Journal column. "If Mr. Obama wants to win, he needs to remember he's running against John McCain for president, not Mrs. Palin for vice president."

Rove notes past attempts by Democratic presidential nominees to attack the No. 2 on the GOP ticket have largely fell flat, and says the issues Obama is hitting Palin on are ones the Illinois senator is weak on himself.

"If Mr. Obama keeps attacking Mrs. Palin, he could suffer the fate of his Democratic predecessors. These assaults highlight his own tissue-thin résumé, waste precious time better spent reassuring voters he is up for the job, and diminish him - not her," Rove writes.

Specifically, Rove says it is not in Obama's interest to attack the Alaska governor on her lack of experience or the earmarks she has requested - two issues, Rove says, on which voters may also question Obama's record.

Since she was named to the GOP ticket two weeks ago, Obama has rarely called out Palin directly, often attacking both her and McCain together as representing a continuation of President Bush's policies. But in an interview on CNN last week, Obama suggested his executive experience surpassed Palin's.

“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wasilla, has I think 50 employees," he said. "We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month."

He also on Sunday called out her claim she is an anti-earmark reformer, saying "I know the governor of Alaska has been saying she's change, and that's great…[but] when you've been taking all these earmarks when it's convenient, and then suddenly you're the champion anti-earmark person, that's not change….you can't just make stuff up."

Folks, it's up to us to find the truth, through independent, non-partisan resources like factcheck. MSM all have a spin these days no matter how much they deny it – they're just like any business trying to cater to a certain niche of America.

Sadly, you can turn on a light and turn a person toward the light, but you can't make them open their eyes to see the light. Some people will forever argue there is no sun matter how many people try to take off their blinders.

Well it seems pretty sound advice since your candidate has been steadly losing ground in 2 weeks. I dont know which has fallen faster, the Price of Oil or Obama in the polls.

What is the mother of all nightmares.... Palin as President.

When will America learn. I heard on the readio y'day a Republican supporter comparing Palin to the likes of Reagan, Roosevelt etc. Are they really so stupid? You will send a Hockey Mom to represent your country to the world?

You can send a white hockey mom to the white house but you wont let a Black man be president.

The supporters of Obama need to spend less time on these forums and garner support on the streets, Florida is 55-43 McCain... oh what a pain!

I would love to see this slimy morally bankrupt sleaze-monger "questioned" about all his various and sundry activities UNDER OATH, and not be protected by the GOPs "cone of unaccountability".

I'd even pay to see him undergo "enhanced interrogation" of the watery kind.

I'm not going to reward George Bush and his administration by voting for another 4 years of the same.

I enjoyed the Clinton years WAY better, therefore, I will reward Bill Clinton and his endorsement for Obama with my vote 😀

By the way, I do agree with Obama on the "issues" too.

Please CNN, don't post any article on Karl Rove until you have a picture of him in an orange or striped prison jump suit.

if obama could check his ego at the door, he should take rove's advice. if the puma movement didn't teach obama a lesson is sexism, nothing will. he picked the MAN with a few thousand votes for vp, instead of the WOMAN with over 18 million. the sexist dnc, and obama camp deserve to lose. mccain/palin 08, hillary 2012!

Barack is NOT atacking Sarah Palin.

    How could he?

Just like the rest of us, Barack knows NOTHING about Sarah Palin!

Karl Rove's ugly mug on the screen should remind us how the worst president in U.S. history was re-elected.

    Vote Smart!

“It's a match-up [Obama] will lose," Rove writes.

"Amateur Hour over at the Obama campaign," Carville says.

Obama was the wrong choice for so many reasons.

The leaders of the Democratic Party have failed us.

Karl Rove never misses a moment to send out his nonsense when we are supposed to be paying respects to others (i.e. 9/11, Hurricane Gustav, etc.).My thoughts & prayers go out to all of the families & friends affected by this tragic day.

    Me to Karl Rove:

    Shut up.

I was watching the recent production of John Adams last night, and it sickens me to see how far we've gone down the wrong path thanks to the likes of Karl Rove. It's like the closing section of Animal Farm. Mr. Adams, Jefferson, Franklin, Washington didn't fight and work so hard for this. Our brave men and women in uniform through the last 235 years didn't offer up their lives for this.

Karl you are destroying what so many brave people sought to build. You are a traitor to the greatest nation in the history of the world.

Why isn't Mr. Potato Head in jail? I feel like it's 2004 all over again.

We're Independents and either way my family will be fine whoever wins the White House, better off if McCain wins, but we're voting for Obama. So it's up to middle America(again) to decide to live in poverty(McCain) or get back on their feet. (OBAMA)
