Investigator wants subpoena for Palin's husband

Todd Palin sat with his wife, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, during the final night of the Republican convention.

Todd Palin sat with his wife, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, during the final night of the Republican convention.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - A special counsel has asked Alaskan lawmakers to subpoena Gov. Sarah Palin's husband and a dozen aides as part of the investigation into Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner.

Todd Palin has been a "principal critic" of his wife's ex-brother-in-law, State Trooper Mike Wooten, and had "many contacts" with Department of Public Safety officials about his status, said Steve Branchflower, the former prosecutor hired by the state Legislature to investigate the firing.

Sarah Palin, now the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire Wooten - and that Monegan was canned when he refused.

Palin has said she fired Monegan over budget issues and denies any wrongdoing.

GOOD, they are hiding something. In the summer she agreed to cooperate 100%. Then what happened? Now she is lawyered up and is actually interfering with the investigation and trying to stop the subpoenas. Don't they realize how guilty this makes them look? Guilty guilty guilty. It is so obvious. If she did nothing wrong, she would just cooperate and get this over with. Her actions speak volumes about the TRUTH.

If Gov Palin has nothing to hide, she should cooperate with the investigation and not instruct her staffers to stall the investigation by any means necessary. One would think that she would prefer to have her name and integrity restored in short order.

Problem is, she is likely to be found guilty as charged!! What else can explain the stall tactics employed by her attorney? This is not the best time to have a cloud of suspicion hanging over your head. Senator McCain, if she's as good as you would have the voting population believe, by all means help her clear herself.

CW4Barack – Why haven't the media asked McBushPalin why he keeps mentioning Obama not doing townhalls with him. So he is telling the American people that the only way he can run a honest, decent campaign is if Obama is sitting across from him…that's a bunch of poppy-crock! What does this say about this man's credibility….is he saying to world leaders the only way I will behave well with you is when you are sitting at the table across from me, but when you leave I am going to tear you to pieces…..say one thing infront of my face, but talk behind my back…there's a word for that-HYPOCRITE! Mr. Depends has lost all honor, and with the selection of Ms. Pittbull in lipstick and the American people swallowing up this crap….it scares me to admit that the American people really want something to cheer about so badly that they would actually find her extensive ignorance and hubris refreshning! May god help us all!

I was going to ask the same question. WHY IS THE MEDIA ALLOWING for McSame to admit he is lieing about Obama becasue won't do a townhall meeting with him. McSame also, said that yesterday at the formal. CNN you are not doing your job. McShame is a liar and he just admitted in on the View and the formal last night. CNN IT IS TIME FOR YOU GUY TO GIVE IT TO MCCAIN AND HIS LIEING AD. Alot of people just see the ad and believe it and not do no research to see if it is true.

Sarah Palin, if your husband has nothing to hide, what's the worry?

We need answers, not spin and dodging like the past two terms.

If there's nothing to hide as she's repeated insisted, why not let him speak? Why not agree to subpeanas to clear it up quick so we can move along with the election? Unless there IS something to hide...

The McCain's VP pick SHOULD be scrutinized. Not only because her record's thin but because McCain is the most likely president ever to die in office in the first term.

All this investigation of a potential VP??? Lets take the focus off of the 2nd in charge and put more attention where it needs to be, on the potential canadites that will be in charge. Give me more info on Obama and his history, McCain is well known, with all the hoopla about Obama, its is hard to find the real facts and experience there.
My decision is going to come down to the wire.

American voters need to listen up and realize that a lot of what we are hearing from the McCain campaign has been inflated to sound good. To the news media, keep digging and get the "true facts" to us in time for the election.

Why do McSame keep ducking the answer when asked about the negative of his campaign? First on the Formal last night and today on the view. He keeps blaming Obama for not doing Town meeting with him. Obama do not have to do with McShame want him to do. McShame doesn't like campaigning by himself because he doesn't keep a crowd. This is the main reason McShame selected Sara Palin with out vetting her to get some spotline time. The world find McShame to be very boring and Obama to be very interesting so this is why McShame wants to do town meeting to get more people to listen to what he have to say which is nothing. I glad Obama did not do any town meeting with this mean man. He is the devil with a nasty temper. On the view, McShame temperament was scary me. This man has a very hot temper. I can not believe he is blaming Obama for this race turning negative because he couldn't get Obama to agree to town hall meetings. So, this old what to at childish we he can not get his way is very disturbing.

80% approval rating in Alaska. Governor Rowland had that a few years ago and was lead off in handcuffs.

Sad isn't it, no one in the Republican wants investigations on any wrong doings, in our nation. Bush claim executive privliage now a governor? What happened to the freedom of information act?

Rick, its not about the airplane selling. It's about the lying regarding the airplane. Why not just tell the truth. If they had, people wouldn't be blogging about it so much. McCain's camp lies everytime they open their respective mouths.

So, McCain is saying that since Obama wouldn't do what he wanted him to do (townhalls) he put out apparently untrue ads about him.
What are we, first-graders, here? Is this how he intends to conduct himself with foreign leaders? McCain and Palin are not just ridiculous, they're downright scary.

There is audio tape of Palin's husband saying he hates the United States. Why is he not being crucified by the media about this they way they crucified Michelle Obama over her comments?

It's way past time to get real folks. We have the Republicans doing their same old tricks of making false attacks, then putting out negative "false" ads. All the while they have a 3rd. string 1+yr. rookie Govenor Palin running for office as Vice President to a 70 yr. old Presidential candidate, with a past history of cancer running for office. Folks...if the Republicans win and Senator McCain were to say die in office a few months later,we will be governed by one of the most un-qualified Vive President to ever take office. Right at the time our country is in a "huge" economic crisis, not to mention all the major problems around the world. It time to get "real", it's way past time for the media to do their job and start asking the hard questions of McCain and Palin. The stakes in this election could not be higher.

This is no Watergate or Clinton Trooper Gate or Monica Gate. Let the Investigation happen, it may just be a disgruntalled employee who would not fire a State Trooper drinking on duty, tazering his stepson, and threating his Ex Inlaws. The problem is if there is nothing there it will make page 13 instead of the front page or get a minor mention on the major news networks.

Maybe when this is all done and said she will stay in Alaska and Mc Cain and Cindy will return to the forty plus crowds they know so well.
Palin is like a strange woman in the circus days of ole. People just want a glimpse and then see Mc Cain stand by her while playing with his fingers. He does not even take a seat. He wants to remind people it's his show but no one believes it anymore. It's Palin and her new founded Gramps.
