Investigator wants subpoena for Palin's husband

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Todd Palin sat with his wife, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, during the final night of the Republican convention."]
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - A special counsel has asked Alaskan lawmakers to subpoena Gov. Sarah Palin's husband and a dozen aides as part of the investigation into Palin's firing of her public safety commissioner.

Todd Palin has been a "principal critic" of his wife's ex-brother-in-law, State Trooper Mike Wooten, and had "many contacts" with Department of Public Safety officials about his status, said Steve Branchflower, the former prosecutor hired by the state Legislature to investigate the firing.

Sarah Palin, now the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire Wooten - and that Monegan was canned when he refused.

Palin has said she fired Monegan over budget issues and denies any wrongdoing.

Presidential material from ther GOP side. She's going to have controversey and a record and the cries from the Right that it's all an evil Left Wing conspiracy, too!

Remember who first put the PR out there on Sarah Palin – Sarah Palin's people, and probably to deflect attention away from something else besides the firing scandal!

    And we're off!!!!

When you do wrong it always comes back to haunt you. I truly hope she is innocent, because she choose to put herself in the lime light and now nothing can get swept under the rug when your VP..

As Governer she could set the tone for things to be left behind closed doors or let out in the open...

More detailed questions should have been asked while she was being vetted for the position. Being a celebrity is not always popular!

McCain got what he asked for...Celebrity for a day...or maybe two...or three...or four...

Please lord, let them find out how horrible a person she is, along with how unqualified she is. This will make the Repugs turn over in their graves. Will further tarnish the whacked McCain campaigns hard efforts at showing they are agents of change. Just to find out nothing they spout is true.

This is so Bush-league : we been there and done that for the past 8 years. She' s already involved in a cover-up before even being elected nationally!

Good. She said she would cooperate fully and now she is trying her hardest to cover it up and not cooperate. If she was not guilty she wouldn't be hiring a private lawyer trying to delay and threaten the investigators and people in charge of doing the investigation.

She also will not release a mound of emails because she is citing Executive Privelage. The problem with that is Todd Palin was copied on many of those emails and he is a Private Citizen. Therefore, excetutive privelage does not apply and Sarah is trying to hide something.

    Now that is reform!

So women, did you know that when she was mayor of Wasilla, Wasilla was the only town that charged rape victims for their own forensic exams.

And when Biden tried to put through the Violence Against Women Act that made it illegal to charge those rape victims, McCain voted against it.

This is who some of you women have chosen to vote for? You must be kidding!

To the McCain supporters, John is a hero and a credit to our country and he deserves his eight or nine houses. He was hasty in picking his running mate for his VP. Palin is not Hillary and please do not insult those of us who liked her!

That said, Barack is of a different mold. He is a unique and intriguing kind of person who has a certainty about where he wants to see our great country. I would like to see where a Harvard scholar who understands both poverty(both sides) and racism(both sides) firsthand takes our great nation when given the power of the Oval office. He is not elitist or above anyone folks, he works for you and me! Biden is a fine VP choice as well.

Sorry, but Palin under investigation is OLD NEWS.

What politician hasn't been in the last 20 years.

Supposedly McCain new all about this previous to asking her to be his VP.

Makes you wonder if he is hoping that something happens and she has to step down. The eleventh hour candidate?

Why not have him speak... Let's see how quickly Palin will try to squash the subpoena for her husband. I don't understand why not get everything out in the open and be done with it.

Dictatorship does not exist only developing countries, etc., that evil exists here among us. Palin has misused her office and will do it again if she has an opportunity. Wake-up America, let us stop the evil doers to access the first House in America. God save America from McPalin.

Washington – Has the US entered a new era of government bailouts for business?

First, Uncle Sam intervened to rescue investment bank Bear Stearns. Then last week the government took over failing mortgage giants Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

Now Lehman Brothers is tottering – raising the prospect of another US salvage operation. And the Big Three automakers are in Washington this week with hats in hand, asking for loans to finance development of more fuel-efficient vehicles.
