(CNN) -Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”

"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View - I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean - in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. "They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead."

John McCain had a tough exchange with the hosts of The View during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate Sarah Palin, claims in his campaign ads that co-host Joy Behar called “lies,” and how many houses he and his wife own.

Now kids, everyone learn; when someone has a different veiw call them, "un-patriotic," you are never in the wrong, and most of all if someone questions you say they are just trying to smear you with lies.

The whole McCain/ Bush/ Rove group just needs to go away.

Pick your bones clean. Does this mean the McCains were forced to tell the truth and quit the lies.

I thought the ladies on The View went easy on them. He never did clear up HOW she was going to "change" Washington. I think this victim card that they keep playing is wearing thin.

I don't have much faith in the people of this nation, because they were dumb enough to vote for Bush and some of the hicks and females are getting excited over a woman with less experience and intelligence than the Black man they claim they don't believe is experienced enough. There are still many racists and many white women who just aren't that bright, so I suggest those who believe that we can keep believing, because one day we will. But there is a chance that we are outnumbered by the lesser intelligent on this election .... again.

Poor Cindy. I guess she feels that those who are privileged shouldn't be questioned... What an elitist!

Now THIS is what you call an elitist!
Wearing a $300,000 dress for a campaign event! how out of touch she and her husband are from the real American people! people can't even afford to keep their homes. Wait, does she care?.. Uh no! she and her husband can't count the number of houses they have!

The view was just doing what reporters won't and what McCain/Palin are deliberately trying to avoid. Just go pop a few more pills Cindy so you can float back into la-la-land, reality is obviously much too powerful for your fragile mind to handle.

The View DID finally speak the truth! Yes, we are seeing a clear difference with these candidates and we are seeing who is going to make the best president...OBAMA '08! Joy has always has enough nerve to speak the truth and finally Barbara nailed your husband, but he still could not tell the truth. He was literally squirming. Why do you think the media ist always negative when you and your husband are being questioned? We are not stupid! We see through your lies and hateful remarks. Obama should not have to grovel in the mud with your husband. McCain is slinging disgusting attacks at Obama and we all know the truth!

No disrespect Barbie McCain, but this election isn't about the same things as the Miss Alaska contest.... questions are going to be a little tougher than "how will Governor Palin skin a moose"!

It's about time, somebody from the media started seeking the truth. Who would have thought it would be from the ladies at the View? Maybe the rest of the media will follow suit.

You reap the seeds that are sewn.

Are the Republicans really plan on winning this campaign by obtaining the sympathy vote?

They are actually beginning to believe their own lies. Even Karl Rove is admitting that the McCain/Palin campaign is completely disrespectful and unfounded! I say Whoopi was right! And, Barbara, too!

Wow, those were some tough questions they got asked on the view. Not as tough as the interview I had to go through before becoming a dog walker but you know...McCain only wants to be President.

If McCain has the ability to own 97 houses, then apparently he knows what he is doing, and would likely be someone you would like running your economy.

The ladies of the view (most of them) acted outrageously. To accuse McCain of spreading lies was outrageous. Obama flat out knew what he was doing when he threw out the "lipstick on a pig" statement. Why else would his campaigne have a statement already prepared saying McCain had once said the same thing? Because Obama knew saying what he said would be related to Palin, he knew there would be a controversy. Obama serving Drama (and then acting sooooo holier than thou). Watch out Obama, your horns are showing.

the bones that they picked clean do spread their living habits over 8 or so homes - keep whining about reality babe. Your hubby has been checkin' out Palin behind the podium and propped you way behind the podium out of the public's eye. I think you are getting a bit testy with all the attention taken away from you.

P.S. Nice make-over ... didn't happen to have anything to do with your hubby's pick for his partner in crime, or did it?

apparently, she didn't realize that her husband was a liar and morally unfit to be President of the United States. Perhaps she should have realized that when he was married while they were dating

Now now little one, do some shopping, go to the spa, you'll fell better. Those big mean ladies on the View are just mean trying to hold you and your husband up to the TRUTH!!!! How dare they ask you in depth questions.

How did the Rachael Ray show go? Did she ask Cindy about her fathers felony convition? How he got the Budweiser distributorship?

Did she ask John about why the Keating 5 was left out of his biography? About how much John has been getting in donations from big oil.

You embarress yourselve. What did you expect, everyone should love you because you are rich and pretty?????

Who cares what Cindy McCain thinks or says. She's just another husband-stealing, rich person that is out of touch with the real world. She's so used to people catering to her that she gets offended when she meets someone that doesn't.

I love how all the Republicans get so defensive when they are asked hard questions, yet they continue to mock Obama's religious views, employment history, and experience.

It's suprising that Elisabeth, the most conservative and bullheaded of the panel, just sat there without coming to their defense. Do you know why? Because Elisabeth will not defend a LIE and she knew that her co-host were being fair.
