Cindy McCain: Tough interviewers 'picked our bones clean'

(CNN) -Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”
"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View - I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean - in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. "They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead."

John McCain had a tough exchange with the hosts of The View during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate Sarah Palin, claims in his campaign ads that co-host Joy Behar called “lies,” and how many houses he and his wife own.

How pathetic. Barbara Walters "grilling" was nothing more than her trying to sound relevant during this election year. Her focus was on being "tough" not "meaningful." How sad that a woman who once covered the issues is now nothing more than another media member trying to make a story out of nothing. If Barbara that it relevant to ask of the VP credentials, why has she NOT done the same of the PRES credentials of Obama. Again, what a waste.
I am so proud of the women on The View for putting an end to the McCain distortions and forcing him to address issues and take responsibility for the statements made by his campaign. Now he's had to face the voters and say "I stand behind those ads" even though the factual lies and slimy distortions in them have been exposed. Nobody can now believe that McCain's a good guy with sleazy Rovian handlers.
I am sure that The View will leave off the kid gloves when they interview Obama, too. But Obama's not in as vulnerable a position because his campaign has been relatively truthful. We are starting to see tougher talk from Obama now, but it's not below-the-belt stuff. The quote attributed to Lincoln applies: "If you don't stop lying about me, I'm going to have to start telling the truth about you."
I saw the show.... she was defensive from the getgo... why can't she answer a simple question like HOW MANY HOMES DO YOU OWN?

I enjoyed Cindy's speech at the RNC, but this is another campaign blunder. Dealing the heat out like this, and not being able to take it back is the sign of some immaturity.
I am sorry, but McCain's presidency is lending my eyes to that of a 'whiner' and a 'complainer'. What happens if others criticize McCain as president? Will they wind up in a federal prison off the radar?
No one gets nasty with Obama- but Charlie Gibson was hateful with Sarah... asking her questions with no answers... The Bush Doctrine- ALL BAD THINGS HAVE BECOME THE BUSH DOCTRINE- so she was astute to ask, "in what respect, Charlie?"
First you MUST agree on a definition of something before you can intelligently address it. Otherwise it is just rhetoric.

They were right to pick your bones. The ads the View hostesses were referring to were such bold face lies, that McCain should be ashamed. OK he's a hero but he's also a liar. He also has such a temper! Had they pressed him a bit more he would have exploded. You could see it coming. I don't think that he has a calm enough temperament to be the ultimate decision maker for the country. And God help his VP if she were the one left in charge. She'd probably have to consult her map to see where any other country is in the world. She listed Ireland as one of the countries she's visited when her plane only stopped there to re-fuel. Another liar!
Someone should tell "Barbie McCain" that if her husband can dish it out, he should be able to take the same in return.
Facts are that I am disgusted with the way that campaign managers for both candidates have been running this mud slinging election, but I will still vote for Obama over another "Bush clone".
What's wrong Cindy can't stand anyone trying to get to the truth. However, how would you know what truth is. You stole another woman's husband and now even Karl Rove is calling all of you liars.
While I agree that the View crew was over the line, I think the hosts were expressing a frustration that we all feel. The frustration that the McCain strategy is to hide Palin from the American media until she has had time to memorize the campaign montra.
It is a real shame our politics have sunken to hiding candidates and whining about media questions.

Ask Cindy Why is it the McCain and Palin are stating they are trying to appeal to the Hockey mom's, shouldn't they be trying to appeal to all Americans, You never here them say we are trying to reach African americans, Asians, hispanic or any other minority group. The question is if you are seeking the office of President of the United States should you be trying to appeal to the all the people of the United Sates and not one segment.

Oh I simply love some of these posted comments. Do you people REALLY expect us to believe the bull the "innocent" and "all truthful" Democrats are trying to say? NOT! Cindy McCain, it's time the media stands up and says this is what we do. And it's fair, and it's objective, and it's called accountability. This is not the John McCain from 2000, this is someone who wants to win at all costs, even if it costs us all another 4 years of the old guard that's been wasting the last 8.
