Cindy McCain: Tough interviewers 'picked our bones clean'

(CNN) -Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”

"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View - I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean - in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. "They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead."

John McCain had a tough exchange with the hosts of The View during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate Sarah Palin, claims in his campaign ads that co-host Joy Behar called “lies,” and how many houses he and his wife own.

I'm no fan of The View ladies, but I watched that segment and in no way did they "pick their bones clean". They asked some legitimate questions, and didn't even press that hard when they got stonewalled or got lied to. They actually conducted a fairly good interview, without throwing a bunch of shallow nonsense that no one cares about.

Cindy, if your husband had nothing to hide he could go on any show and still keep his cool! He was not able to justify all the lies in his campaign ads or concerning Mrs. Palin. Why don't you encourage your husband to run an honest campaign and you would'nt have to ruin your makeup up being angry. Not a good shot, Cindy!

Yea Cindy!!! You're right–those bitty's on the view were disgusting. I've lost all respect for Barbara Walters. Joy Behar is just loose nutball! She should shut her trap and listen more. I'm ashamed to call lmyself a Democrat (40yrs). Poor old OBama can't take the heat and everyone is jumping to try and save a lost cause. Well it's not going to work. This xdemocratic family is voting McCain/Palin. How you like them apples OB?

I'll be interested to see if the women on The View are just as tough on Barack Obama and his wife. FactCheck has pointed out lies in Obama's ads as well, and if the rumors about the content of Michelle's thesis are true, it would be interesting to see if the women jump on that. I like that they were willing to press McCain and I hope they do that with all the candidates.

However, I believe Walters is the only one who is an actual journalist, so the opinions of Behar, Goldberg, and the rest mean about as much to me as that of Matt Damon.

    Oh Please Cindy:

There are thousand more bones to pick. By time the media finish with your Republican lies, you will all be skeletons.

If the shoe was on the only foot. The media would rip him apart. If he had a teenage daughter pregnant. I couldn't believe how the Republican people thinks that his is such a special moment. She is still a child and having a child. This is disgusting, she needs to be in school somewhere, instead of playing house. In Sarah's interview, she was ask do you have a nanny or maid, she said no I have two teenage daughters. Why can't her daughters grow up like all other teenagers with school and friends. How could she put this huge responsiblity on her daughter. She needs to be home with her kids, instead parading around with a Bible in one hand a gun in the other and shooting down mooses from a helicopter. What is the world coming to?

it's the media's duty to ask tough questions. if mccain/palin can't handle the heat then they need to drop out of the race.

frankly, the media hasn't been asking enough tough questions *cough*cnn*cough*.

cindy probably isn't used to this treatment since everything in her life has been handed to her on a golden platter...

I saw the view on Friday and have to admit that it was one of the best interviews I've seen in a while. Ms. Walters and her panel asked all the right questions and I do agree with Mrs. McCain they picked there bones clean; unfortunately, I didn't like what I saw. Some answers Sen. McCain gave he answered like a true politician, not giving a direct answer. I think "The View" did a great job forcing him to answer some of the questions. In addition, to address Mrs. McCain statement on the media coverage, what I see and what I’m saying is McCain/Palin more of the same, don’t get too confident Nov 4th is several weeks away.

Cindy act like she grew up poor and went to public school in a poor neighbor on her audio.. She is a great liar. Gov. Sarah Palin started this campaign off with a great lie and it has been growing every since.

This is a lie machine the McCain and the Palin are leading the way...

Stop whinning Cindy!. Senator McCain has just lost his soul to win. Truth, integrity, and honesty are apparently not in his dictionary anymore. He is not the man that was.

Where are the republicans? Why arent you defending Cindy's remarks? Republicans seem to think that talking so loud only their voice is heard means they are correct. Cant do that in blogs can you?

I like the remark curtis in WI wrote:
How dare people expect you to tell the truth and defend your positions? Just who do they think they are? Voters??????

funny, wonder why the view is soooo easy on Obama and his wife, It was a cake walk for them, a couple of weeks ago Joy sat in her seat on the view and rapped a song for Obama, Its sickening how they are all so one sided,

I think it is perfectly fair to ask legitimate questions. But what bothers me is the the MANNER in which these questions are asked. I have seen too often how disrespectful the media has become to the McCain campaign–reminiscent of the Clinton campaign during the primaries–and how Obama gets respectful, once-in-a-while-tough questioning.

Take Larry King for example. He can get persistent and can be pressing on his questioning, but maintains professionalism and respect in doing so. Whereas Joy Behar, Barbara Walters, Campbell Brown are just plain vicious.

It's like demonizing the guest EVEN before getting the facts straightened out.

Way to go Cindy McCain. We aren't fooled by the media. The media want to determine our country's fate. They want rockstar presidents and movie star governers.

I really really really hope they don't get away with this approach that says they can like about anything and everything and blame the backlash on the media.

I think it's great The View started picking at the bones hidden in the McCain walk-in closets. If you can stand the heat under pressure from direct questions, send your chefs, maids and dishwashers out of the kitchen(S).

BONES are all that McSame and HolyRoller Palin will have left, come Nov. 4. Obama will mop the floor with them, and send them back in a pine box.

There are ALOT of Obamians keeping their voting intentions quiet, until "YES, We Can"-Tuesday, just to blow those repuglicans out of the water.

McSame SEALED his already-doomed campaign when he chose HolyRoller to be VP. Having her one-step from the presidency is something the American public will simply not allow.

51 days, then its YES WE CAN-time !!!
