Cindy McCain: Tough interviewers 'picked our bones clean'

(CNN) -Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential nominee John McCain, criticized the media at a weekend fundraiser, telling supporters that the hosts of The View “picked our bones clean.”

"In spite of what you see …in the newspapers, and on shows like The View - I don't know if any of you saw The View yesterday, they picked our bones clean - in spite of what you see, that's not what the American people are saying and what they are believing," said McCain, in a recording obtained by ABC News. "They are now seeing a clear difference with these candidates, and they are seeing who is going to make the best president, and that's why we're pulling ahead."

John McCain had a tough exchange with the hosts of The View during a recent appearance, during which he was pressed on the credentials of running mate Sarah Palin, claims in his campaign ads that co-host Joy Behar called “lies,” and how many houses he and his wife own.

It's sooooo true and anyone who would deny the overwhelmingly liberal bias of The View believes Karl Marx was a bit of a conservative.

Barack Obama needs all the help he can get and he's getting it from the usual places.

But acknowledging that he needed help from ex-prez Bill Clinton had to be humbling for him and his campaign.

The BO camp spotted the downward spiral trend of the polls and knocked on President Clinton's door, cap in hand, looking for some help.

For Barack, that must have felt like swallowing a golf ball – you know, asking for Bill's help. "Puleeeeez, Bill, help me. I'm sinking in the polls. People aren't listening to me anymore. I'm stuck with Biden and John has Palin. Help me Bill. I'm sorry what I said about Hillary – really I am. I shoulda taken her instead. Puleeeez Bill."

I wonder what kind of a deal he had to negotiate with Bill Clinton?

The McCain camp set the tone for the whole campaign when they went negative so early. Part of the strategy was to not only attack Obama, but the "media elite."

Were they naive enough to think that when McCain goes on soft news shows like the View he's going to get treated with kid gloves. Cindy McCain is just playing the victim card.

I'm an Independent who usually votes Republican, but I expected the John McCain of 2000 and have been disappointed.

The View is not representative of anything other than angry old women. Modern women support McCain / Palin.

I loved the View interview, it's about time McCain was called out face to face on some of the disgusting ads he has been running. Is McCain so out of touch he doesn't know how the American people feel about this? I guess if he got on the internet, or read email he might be enlightened.

If McCain and Palin only spoke the TRUTH there would be no bone cleaning to be done. Their lies are starting to really be viewed by the public for what they are LIES & MORE LIES!!!

    They're sexist!
How humiliating to get your butt kicked on The View. But it was appropriate – he even lied to them while they accused him of lying. He said Sarah Palin took no earmarks as governor. Just can't help himself...

Earth to Cindy! You were grilled on The View...and offered little respectable answers to any of the panels questions.

Now, just release your tax returns like the other side and we will really see who is out of touch. I bet your richer than some small countries...hence the 7 houses.

Wow shes mad..all because the women on the view asked tough questions like " How is Palin going to reform Washington? Hmm seems like a fair question to me. Guess what America he could come up with no answer! They are doing alot of talking but not saything anything. Whats the message? That they stole the "change" moniker? That McCain picked Palin JUST TO ADD A WOMAN TO THE TICKET? Wake up America, you might be a GOP supporter but even you know in your heart that you party is doing nothing on their own. At least Obama went on the O' Riley factor and stood his ground! McCain cant hadle four liberal women and he wants to be President. WHEN WILL PALIN START DOING SOME INTERVIEWS FOR HERLSELF LIKE THE OTHER THREE CANDIDATES? WHEN? SHE IS NOT READY FOR INTERVIEWS BUT SHE IS READY TO BE PRESIDENT???WAKE UP PEOPLE....ITS TIME!

This is from the woman who had the worst speech of a potential First Lady ever. . . Go mix some beer somewhere. They asked the same ole same ole questions. If McCain was EDUCATED he would be able to turn the questions around while still answering them. He reminded me of Tyra Bank's Top Models when they do interviews to rip them apart, but McCain got sent home crying.

    Ask The questions

    Seek Accountability

    Present fairly and openly

If it proves McCain has no plan......and Palin is just the desperate act of a deperate man.....its ok

we CAN handle the truth, some Voters may fear it.......but the silent majority knows the difference.

Once again, the Republicans can dish it out but can't take it! McCain and his campaign have a serious honesty issue but doesn't like to be questioned about it. He wants his dirty politics to go unchecked! Palin's record is not squeaky clean and the American people should be informed. She should be scrutinized just like everyone else!

It seems to me that the view was spot on. McCain's ad are not just misleading, they are total lies!!! I am so glad that we in Canada do not (YET)have politicians like McCain that would stoop to such lows. MacCain has lost his honour in an effort to win an election. He will have to deal with his bad choices one day.

Oh yeah, please don't McCain about the facts or any tough questions. Also, how dare you ask him about his houses?! Otherwise, McCain will go tell Cindy and Sarah, you are all gonna be in big trouble!!!!!!!!!

She's kidding, right?? The women of The View did what others in the media have been afraid to do for the past few weeks. This is not a beauty pageant, this is a race that will decide who will be the next President. Bring on more tough questioning.

but you didn't answer the question, Senator McCain. You never answer the questions posed to you. Why is that?

  22. Bobby

the hosts on the view and other media are right to ask these questions. In the debates coming McCain and palin will have to answer these same questions about the bridge to nowhere that palin endorsed and now getting credit for helping to kill it and McCain's lobbyists who run his campaign 7 out of 10 of them and say hes against lobbyists and his health care plan which focuses on privatizing the system to promote competition but give the people less power to obtain and maintain health care and increase out of pocket spending on health care in cases of preexisting conditions and taxing healthcare along with salary so people are paying more in taxes and privatizing social security that will hurt poeple looking to retire

  25. It about time

It about time some body start asking Mccain real question about issues affecting American not just pigs and lipstick non sense.
Let people know who you going to fix an economy that your good friend Bush destroyed or how you are going to help them save their homes. Earlier this year, Mccain said point blank that he did not know anything about the economy which is one of the things that the American people is struggling with. How can you tell me that the American people are remotely thinking of even letting this guy run an nation where the economy is one of the defining issues.
