Weather disrupts Palin's campaign stops

CANTON, Ohio (CNN) - Sarah Palin is postponing visits to Cincinnati and Dayton as the remnants of Hurricane Ike torment southern Ohio and northern Kentucky.

High winds have killed several people in Ohio and left thousands without power.

The vice presidential candidate had been scheduled to spend the night in Cincinnati Monday and hold a fundraiser there on Tuesday. She had also planned to spend that night in Dayton before holding a fundraiser in town the following morning.

Palin and John McCain will proceed as planned with their joint rally in the Youngstown area, in northwest Ohio, on Tuesday afternoon. The event will be their first appearance on the trail together since Palin departed for Alaska last Wednesday.

“Due to the state of emergency, and to avoid a possible diversion of personnel and resources, Gov. Palin’s visits to the Cincinnati and Dayton areas have been postponed to a later date. Tomorrow’s rally in the Mahoning Valley will continue as planned,” said a statement released by the campaign.

It’s a stretch to say she “pushed” for any policy improvements. Though Palin did sign a law increasing special education funding in Alaska, “she had no role whatsoever” in its development, according to the bill’s author, Rep. Mike Hawker (R). Moreover, as governor, Palin vetoed $275,000 in Special Olympics Alaska funds (Page 100, SB 221 with vetoes), slashing the organization’s operating budget in half.

You mean McCain and Palin aren't using Hurricane Ike for photo ops? Surely, since they used Hurricane Gustav for political fodder fundraising at their convention in Detroit, maybe they should be using their fundraising stops in Ohio for victims of Ike? Can anyone say hypocrites???

    What a JOKE!

I live in Ohio and it not a state of emergency that would deter a candidate from coming here. The McCain campaign must have gotten wind that we do not want that fraud to come to our state. We Ohioans value the TRUTH

Something is up.Must be the legal crisis she and Todd are having in Alaska. I hope the man at the other end of the legal battle is safe and under guard. If he disappears the case is over. I guess McCain and his team should have looked into things a little better. The attention, money and energy was worth it I guess. Too bad they got called on the lies. They do that so well. MISCALCULATION BIG TIME.
    ON MANY FRONTS.

Nobody was going to show up anyway! The only good thing I can say about her is, she is pretty good looking, but as soon as she starts talking it ruins it! Looks however do not qualify her to be leader of the free world.

Ohio and Michigan will be lost to racism by Obama. If Obama
does not win ONE of these states, I think he will lose this election.

I think this nation will be in a very sad state if Obama loses.

We can only hope that people see the light thru banishing their
    racist ideas.

Well I guess this gives Sarah a pause to explain why if she is for open Government and such a reformer, she won't cooperate with the investigation of her influence peddling in Alaska.

I guess it's OK to investigate "others" but not her misconduct!

    Silly Sarah or Scary Sarah?
