Palin allies sue to halt trooper probe

Allies of Gov. Palin are asking for a judge to half the trooper probe.

Allies of Gov. Palin are asking for a judge to half the trooper probe.

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - Allies of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin asked a judge Tuesday to halt the state Legislature's investigation into the firing of her public service commissioner, calling the probe a "McCarthyistic" inquisition.

The five Republican state lawmakers who filed suit say the leaders of the investigation "are unable to hold the balance between vindicating their own political interests and the interests of those who are being investigated."

Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire a state trooper going through a bitter custody dispute with her sister - and that Monegan was terminated when he refused. Palin says she fired Monegan over budget issues, and denies any wrongdoing.

She originally pledged to cooperate with the investigation that a bipartisan commission of the state Legislature commissioned in July. But since becoming Sen. John McCain's running mate, campaign spokesmen have lashed out at the probe as "tainted" and "partisan."

But I thought Gov. Palin had nothing to hide. Stop making this out as some partisan attack. It's been investigated a lot longer than she has been the VP nominee. This is just another desperate sign of the McCain campaign. Shame.....he is not what he once was.

Why? The Republicans spent $30 million investigating Monica Lewinsky. Now the Republicans won't let the STATE of AK run their own bi-partisan investigation?

Sounds like they have a lot to hide. Why is Palin lying to us yet again?

NOW THERE SHOULD BE NO QUESTION IN ANYONE'S MIND THAT SHE HAS SOMETHING TO HIDE.

SHE HAS BEEN SHOOTING HER MOUTH OFF SINCE SHE BECAME THE NOMINEE THAT SHE WELCOMED AN INVESTIGATION BECAUSE SHE HAD DONE NOTHING WRONG.

SURE SOUNDS LIKE SHE DID A LOT SHE WASN'T SUPPOSE TO AND IS NOW TRYING TO SEU TO KEEP IT QUIET, OR AT LEAST UNTIL AFTER TEH ELECTION!

    Oh Come on....
if there is nothing to hide then why make a big deal out of this?
Could it be that this is the typicla repub response, thinking they are above the law, or do not have to follow what the regular citizens do?
If she has nothing to hide, then come clean. This is typical of what is wrong with this country, those in power can do whatever they want and the rest of us have to live under different rules.
    Palin....come clean....

She is hiding something and I want to know what. The American people deserve to know before this lady steps into the white house. Subpoena her and arrest her if she doesn't obey the subpoena. Get this done!

People who have nothing to hide cooperate. Those who are hiding something dont. Those who appear to be hiding something will be viewed as hiding something.
No interviews, no tough questions, no transparency.

Don't let her off the hook. She is a tainted politician. Won't talk to the media, won't talk to the American people, won't answer real questions, and haven't proved that she is capable of running this country. Bad choice Mr. McCain; she can't fool us anymore. We here in the lower states are not as dumb as she thinks.

Funny that the group who called for the investigation was headed by Republicans! The group has 3 Republicans and only 2 Democrat's.

This public safety commisioner says he was fired for refusing to fire the state trooper. But he admitted in a CNN interview that Palin never asked him to fire the trooper. So how did he get the idea she wanted him fired, a Vulcan mind meld? The Alaska State Police found that the trooper violated several laws, including drinking on duty. He deserved to be fired.

    PALIN IS A FRAUD

Gov. Sarah Palin may eventually have said "no thanks" to a federally funded Bridge to Nowhere.

But a bridge to her hometown of Wasilla, that's a different story.

A $600 million bridge and highway project to link Alaska's largest city to Palin's town of 7,000 residents is moving full speed ahead, despite concerns the bridge could worsen some commuting and threaten a population of beluga whales.

Local officials already have spent $42 million on plans to route traffic across the Knik Arm inlet, a narrow finger of water extending roughly 25 miles northeast of Anchorage toward Wasilla. The proposal exists thanks to an earmark request by Republican Rep. Don Young, whose son-in-law has a small stake in property near the bridge's proposed western span.

Did any of us really expect forthright answers and cooperation with this investigation? One doesn't need to be a psychic to have seen this coming. She fits the current administration like a glove.
