Palin allies sue to halt trooper probe

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/09/16/art.palin.9.14.jpg caption="Allies of Gov. Palin are asking for a judge to half the trooper probe."]
ANCHORAGE, Alaska (CNN) - Allies of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin asked a judge Tuesday to halt the state Legislature's investigation into the firing of her public service commissioner, calling the probe a "McCarthyistic" inquisition.

The five Republican state lawmakers who filed suit say the leaders of the investigation "are unable to hold the balance between vindicating their own political interests and the interests of those who are being investigated."

Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire a state trooper going through a bitter custody dispute with her sister - and that Monegan was terminated when he refused. Palin says she fired Monegan over budget issues, and denies any wrongdoing.

She originally pledged to cooperate with the investigation that a bipartisan commission of the state Legislature commissioned in July. But since becoming Sen. John McCain's running mate, campaign spokesmen have lashed out at the probe as "tainted" and "partisan."

    Okay, so now we know...

    1. She lies about refusing earmarks ($453 million in under 2 yrs)

    2. She lies about saying No to the Bridge to Nowhere, and took the money anyway

    3. She continues to lie that Alaska provides 20% of the US energy. In fact it provides only 3.5%

    4. She took taxpayer money so she could work from home (Crawford, Texas anyone?)

    5. She had taxpayers provide her with a tanning bed.

Hmm... I wonder if she has anything to cover up...

    McCain=Bush ... Palin=Cheney

This is absoulte outrage. The American people need to wake up and smell the coffe. Palin absolutely use her power to get this man fired. This is a working man trying to put food on the table as you and I but yet she never thought twice in flexing her power to get him removed from office. Let the investigation begin and subpeona the entire staff. Palin is always innocent until proven guilty. The truth will come out on her and her bully husband.

The McCain campaign is constantly surrounded by lies, scandal, and distractions. Yet they are tied with Obama in the polls. I guess the rest of the county does not bother reading the news. They seem to be focused on their image and who would be cooler to have a beer with.

America please let me introduce you to Mrs. Sarah Palin Bush Rove Cheney.

She is married to the Special Interest that elected Bush/Cheney. The real reason they want her in office so that Bush and Cheney will not be investigated. She can then halt investigations into their presidency and then she can pardon Rove.

    Wake up America

And the Alaska state commission is STILL bipartisan, and a Republican official came back from a hunting trip to cast his vote in favor of issuing the subpoenas. Report that with headlines CNN, what are you trying to hide, your Republican bias?

With all respect, if this were a real jury trial, it would be an immediate mistrial due the comments made in public by one of the triers of fact who said, "this may be an october suprise." That is clear predisposition thinking. in a legislative context, it is clearly impartial, aka red scare inquiries. Why would anyone want to be subjected to that. No "regular citizen" would deal with that.

She has made statements on the issue, aka "come clean," but obviously her side of the events are not accepted at face value. They should not be held at face value. They need to be coorborated by other evidence. Otherwise, why have the inquiry?

There are checks and balances in our system that keep those in power from abusing the power. they do live under different rules when those rules apply to their position of governance. if she commited a criminal offense outside the scope of her work, she'd be under the same rules as the rest of us.

Please speak informatively all of you.

Are we still talking about America? As one American I am outraged everyone, every last American needs to know if there was any wrong doing or misuse of POWER as voters in this NATION we have every RIGHT to know the truth before our votes are cast. Talk about loosing faith in the basic fundamentals of this Country. I know and I certainly hope Americans are mindful of where this is coming from, the McCain/Palin campaign want to win at any cost, even the nation’s trust!

    We deserve better then this....

If she got nothing to hide then what are they afraid of?

She is not fit to be American's VP. She is very vindictive who abused her power. America should be scared to death just the thought of her running this country.

    a Republican for Obama.

This probe was happening before she was selected as McCain's running mate and it really irks me that his campaign is getting involved in our state issues here in Alaska.

Why are we still entertaining Palin as VP. This is wasted time. Lets deal with the issues. McCain knew this woman would keep the pressure off of his short comings.

Palin undertook to co-operate with the Legislative Investigation and has RENEGED on that undertaking. She will no longer answer questions about her influence peddling, she won't answer questions from the media ... and she has LIED about the Bridge to Nowhere, she has lied about taxes, and she has lied about ..... there she goes again.

The supporters of Palin are trying to block the legislative probe on the basis of the alleged bias of the investigators. They are willing, however, to let a personnel board probe continue. Who are the people on the personnel board the republicans are willing to let hear the matter? Are they Palin appointees/supporters? Something smells about this republican appearance of co-operation...

She is PERFECT for the job of VP. Let's see.....
    1. her administration used personal email addresses to do the "state business" so that they could claim the correspondences were not subject to open records act..or to the law. CHECK...so did the Bush admin.
    2. tell her staff not to cooperate or appear if called by the investigators to testify. CHECK...so did the Bush admin
    3. cover up scientists findings (fudge or ignore scientific data) if the data did not support her own beliefs about global warming... CHECK...so did the Bush admin.
    4. villify and bully anyone who disagrees with any policy....or any position she espouses... CHECK...so did the Bush Admin
    5. wrap yourself in the flag (literally)...and lay exclusive claim to patriotism....CHECK...so did the Bush Admin.

SHE IS PERFECTLY QUALIFIED for VP!!!

Thomas Paine said Such is the irresistible nature of truth that all it asks, and all it wants, is the liberty of appearing.
Her actions lead me to believe she has something to hide.
