Prominent Clinton backer and Dem donor to endorse McCain

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="A prominent backer of Hillary Clinton is endorsing McCain."]WASHINGTON (CNN) - Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a prominent Hillary Clinton supporter and member of the Democratic National Committee’s Platform Committee, will endorse John McCain for president on Wednesday, her spokesman tells CNN.

The announcement will take place at a news conference on Capitol Hill, just blocks away from the DNC headquarters. Forester will “campaign and help him through the election,” the spokesman said of her plans to help the Republican presidential nominee.

Forester was a major donor for Clinton earning her the title as a Hillraiser for helping to raise at least $100,000 for the New York Democratic senator’s failed presidential bid.

In an interview with CNN this summer, Forester did not hide her distaste for eventual Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama.

“This is a hard decision for me personally because frankly I don't like him,” she said of Obama in an interview with CNN’s Joe Johns. “I feel like he is an elitist. I feel like he has not given me reason to trust him.”

Forester is the CEO of EL Rothschild, a holding company with businesses around the world. She is married to international banker Sir Evelyn de Rothschild. Forester is a member of the DNC’s Democrats Abroad chapter and splits her time living in London and New York.

way to have really smart and well-reasoned justifications for not supporting him..."uhhh...I feel like he's elitist...I don't know if I can trust him"

Say goodbye to your job lady. How can you claim someone who grew up in a single parent household, was on welfare, and got an education on his own, and turned down an "elitist" job to work in the community? This coming from someone who's married to a "SIR" which means they are officially knighted by the Queen of England. Who's an elitist? Just admit it lady, its because he's black, and you think black people just can't simply run a country. That's what lots of ignorant people think these days. I'm actually happy to see this racism because it exposes lots of people who you didn't think were, but are. . .

This woman calls Barack an elitist? This is late April Fool's piece, right? Seriously, she will fit in well with the GOPers.... Good riddance!

Lynn Forester de Rothschild, a woman with wisdom and integrity! 🙂

I am a former democrat and Hillary supporter, and I agree! Obama is an elitist, and he has not given me reason to trust him either!

McCain/Palin 08! They will deliver the reforms Americans can believe in! 🙂

The mixed race guy raised by a single mom is an elitist and the old white guy who's been a high ranking government official for decades is a man of the people. Welcome to backwards land.

Simply wants a woman in the White House.

A TRUE supporter of Clinton would never support McCain and Pailin. They are pretty much the exact opposite of Hillary.

Some CEO calls Obama an elitist? What a joke. Be honest and tell the truth, Ms. You don't like him because he's black. Another hypocrite.

To say Obama is an elitist is just plain stupid. I'd have more respect for her if she just said that she wasn't going to vote for him because he's black.

I heard the Queen of England is supporting McCain. Apparently Obama is too much of an elitist and his skin is a little too dark. She would definitely not feel comfortable if he were walking behind her on the street at night. It is a trust thing.

Who is this pasty white de Rothschild!? and why do I care? I wonder if her mortgage is in foreclosure, the one in America that is, not the one in London.
And here I thought CNN's coverage could not get any worse.

The Republicans can have her! She will be a total loser when McBush loses! After the election, the Republicans will dump her because she doesn't support any of their platform and the Democrats will never take her back. What a sore loser!

Talk about cutting off your nose to spite your face. Obviously, she really doesn't hold any value to the policies for which Hillary stands. This sounds more like a spoiled little rich girl who doesn't like her candy being taken away. Someone who was planning to have a big role in Hillary's party.

Perhaps she can join yet another self-absorbed opportunist Joe Lieberman and do a tour together.

Like Bush, he followed his gut, ignored advice from experts and acted on impulse. In fact, McCain’s rash and reckless choice of Palin makes Bush look downright careful by comparison . If you liked eight years of a president who went with his gut, acted on impulse and gambled our nation’s future on a hunch, you’ll love John McCain.

    Scorned lady

How and whose gonna pay for this war in Iraq? 10,000,000,000.00 a month that McCain fully supported. The republicans have spent spent spent. Wallstreet is being bailed out in the tune of billions. Everyone is worse off now than 8 years ago. McCain wants to privatize social security despite this mess with the market.

McCain says that "greed" lead to the wallstreet crisis, coming from a man who doesn't know how many homes he has, greed indeed.

Wow. Maybe she missed all Palin's lies, like the thing about her managing 20% of our domestic ebnergy supply and the thing about Obama raising taxes.

being elitist [definition: Someone who believes in rule by an elite group.] isn't measured by how much money you have

the coment about the bitter little people who cling to their guns and religion was an elitist comment (among other things) as at that moment he was talking to some of his elite group

I'm an Alaskan Republican and I'm VOTING FOR OBAMA/BIDEN!

This country is melting down do to 30 years of Free Range Pro- Corporation CEO policies that MOST of the Republican Party edorses. It sickens me what's happened to the GOP. Look, here in Alaska the GOP is in such a mess with longtime men like Young and Stevens who did good things for the State started doing more things just for themselves. Same thing with McCain. He worked side by side with Stevens for 26 years. He was involved in the Keating Five banking scandal and was joined at the hip with Bush the last 8 years on everything. And to make it worse McCain has voted AGAINST our soldiers everytime Veterans medical benefits came up. Alaskans were so disgusted with this we voted in Palin who ran as a reformer but instead is proving herself to be sweet talking power crazed harpy. She's turning out to me more of the same. A corrupted politico bent on enriching herself.

So, I'm voting OBAMA. I've read the his record and he's been RIGHT about everything so far. We need fresh blood and a Constitional scholar who is a self made man. He put himself through school and has dedicated himself to helping folks. That's the kind of self made man with the Pioneering Alaskan spirit Alaskans like.

I don't know why this person is getting press, NO ONE KNOWS WHO SHE IS! She has the right to choose who she wants to vote for. This shows she was never a true Democrat or a true Hillary supporter. Obama will win this election on his vision for the country and DETAILED SPECIFICS of where the country should go on the economy, health care, foreign policy and many others. This is a true and honorable man with great values and character. God, family and country all three things he loves dearly and which shows why he is the true Patriot of this Presidential race. GO OBAMA 2008/2012 GO HILLARY (WITHOUTH ROTHCHILD HELP) 2016/2020

It's hypocrisy, not hypocrasy. Second, to the race baiter "John McPain", believe it or not, there are actually people who dislike Obama's policies and his personality with absolutely no regard to race. Shocking, isn't it? Almost as shocking as you voting for Obama because someone tells you to, or because you take everything the media reports at face value. Try thinking.

You are not a true Democrat if you make a decision based on "not liking him"......many Democrats disliked HRC, but had she won we would have voted Democrat, because any other choice is detremental to this country and our world relations!

Not a loss at all.....the Democrats are bringing in new voters, Independent's and republicans every day!
