Palin takes first impromptu question from national press

[cnn-photo-caption image= caption="Gov. Palin campaigned in Nevada last weekend."]
CLEVELAND, Ohio (CNN) - Sarah Palin took her first impromptu question from a reporter traveling with her campaign Wednesday while shaking hands at a restaurant called Karl's Inn of the Barristers in Cleveland.

A pool reporter from the national press corps asked Palin's reaction to the federal bailout of insurance giant AIG.

Palin said she is "disappointed that taxpayers are called upon to bailout another one."

"Certainly AIG, though, with the construction bonds that they're holding, and with the insurance that they are holding, very, very impactful to Americans," she said. "So you know, the shot that has been called by the feds, it's understandable but very, very disappointing that taxpayers are called upon for another one."

The reporter asked Palin if she had plans to come to the back of the campaign plane to chat with the reporters who cover her as she campaigns around the country.

"We're getting lonely back there," the reporter said.

"Are you getting lonely?," Palin answered. "Gee, yeah, come on up then!"

When Palin entered the restaurant with her husband Todd, she introduced herself to about 10 patrons as "Sarah," and told them, "Excuse me for interrupting your meal." It was Palin's first retail campaign stop since the day McCain tapped her as his running mate.

Is she real sure she wants to take any questions ? Is she preparred to answer anything? realy? If any of the media can handle this question, put it to her......I am confident she will not want to answer it.
Why is she so determined to take Alaskan Native lands away? To better "her" people? All Natives are awaiting her answer. Of course this action includes:home, education, health care, food, culture. The real reason to this type of action is so she can hunt (hanging the dead or dying animal of the runners to kill more.),and so that the oil pipe that is not built can be built(without the permmission of the "real" land stewards.Oil has been her thing. Come to think of has been McCain's thing too. 2 oil budies. He puts Native Americans off their land and onto a toxic dump.....for Peabody Coal(see his bill in 1997),she takes the land for an oil pipeline......I know how history will judge bush/chenney/rice/gonzo group inc. How will history write about these 2 very "special" individuals ??????

    Go Obama/Biden '08

Palin said, We may go to war with Russia and Iran. Didn't this administration send troops to Iraq without enough body armor?
    Does Sarah know that?

    Pippa writes from Africa:
It amuses me that V.P Palin is still taunting the press.
She knows exactly what she is doing in sustaining America's curiosity and astonished fascination with her political appointment, thus keeping her on the radar.
This strategy has eclipsed V.P Biden's campaign and I wager that his press entourage is a quarter of that of Palin's.
Thank you for the most entertaining spectacle of the year.

She is a joke!!!!! The only reason McCain picked her for the VP spot is so that he can just look at her.....He is an old pervert that wants something younger to look at.... I guess Cindy McCain has gotten too old for the geezer. After all of the plastic surgery, she still isn't young enough for him.

The people of Alaska don't even like her..... At her speech when she went home after the convention, there were so many people protesting against her than she had to support her.

CNN, why didn't you report this information....You guys act like she is this breathe of fresh air when all she is just a gun toting red neck from Alaska. She needs to be at home with her children and making sure they are going to school. She is such a looser in my eyes. Any caring mother will not leave their 4-5 month old baby for a job. What kind of values does she have?

Awww. Her first impromptu question. Isn't that cute? McCain must be feeling like a proud papa right now.

We don't need a little girl who has to take baby steps into the White House. We need am adult. Sarah should go back to Alaska.

I wish someone would ask her, why it took her 6 years, and 5 colleges, just to receive a Journalism degree.

    Did she blink?

That's all she said?? "that's disapointing" – not much leadership, vision or direction in that statement

all this time and that's all we get, that's pretty disapointing...

Wow - she answered her first impromptu question ... is this an excuse for a party?

America – you should be scared of this woman ... very very very scared

I would rather be a moose in Juneau in the governor's mansion during hunting season ... than to be an American living in a McCain-Palin administration

I find it quite humorous that they won't let this woman too far off her leash. They are afraid of how she will answer questions.

People dig deep within and ask that question Are you better off now than 4/8 years ago?

The way she has been artfully shielded from the media is amazing. My impression is that the strategy is to create a vacuum(1 interview), the media over reaches to fill the void (several bad/unsubstantial stories) and then the media becomes lapdogs because of FUD(fear uncertainty and doubt) No one wants to risk being burned, by public oppinion (ala sexism) or even less access to the candidate(s) . (in end the public will be becuase of media fails us) Bush was handled with this same strategy(note: no sexism just the access game)

From what I have gathered, her management style is not detailed... she deals in broad strokes and leaves the details to others... example: she had hired a city manager in wasilla (after she told local media she would not). This is also remeniscent of ole George B.

town hall mtgs??? That is a scam, schuler said yesterday. Obama is not mccain's boy, they will debate in 3 televised meetings, not some phony set up by mccain's staff. By the way m Cain did NOT invent the Blackberry.

I am sure Palin has a lot to say about Iran. It's the same game as Iraq folks, it's about the oil.

It is good that she is finally taking questions.
When Obama gives his stump speeches he does Not take questions. He delivers his scripted speeches either memorized or off of telepromters and then shakes hands with the crowd. He does not take random questions.
Whenever he does speak ad lib, he is usually rephrasing himself later because he does Not know what Position he should have on an issue until he confers with his staff.

Yay, finally. One of the candidates answers an impromptu question. We've yet to see Obama do that. Oh sure, he is asked, and his answer is always "uhhh, errr.. ummm... well.... ummm... hope and uhhh, errr... ummm. change!"

At least she answered it concisely, directly, and succinctly instead of dancing around it for 5 minutes and then changing the subject to avoid answering it.

Palin Palin Palin....ratings ratings ratings...she is not running for president. McCain is. The GOP wants you to think that maybe if you vote for McCain you'll will get the Magical Healing Powers of Palin. What you will get is a vice president who will do the will of her president and McCain will be that man. And McCain will continue Bush economic and foreign policies. I think she makes him look like and old fool.
