[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/09/24/art.lbush.gi.jpg caption="Laura Bush said she has confidence in Palin."](CNN) - First Lady Laura Bush told CNN Wednesday Sarah Palin lacks experience in foreign policy, but quickly added the Alaska governor is "a very quick study."
Asked by CNN's Zain Verjee if she thought Palin's resume included sufficient foreign policy experience, Bush said, "Of course she doesn't have that."
"You know, that's not been her role," she continued, "But I think she is a very quick study, and fortunately John McCain does have that sort of experience."
The McCain campaign has pointed to Palin's gubernatorial service as head of the Alaska National Guard, part of which is deployed in Iraq, as experience in foreign policy.
But in the interview with CNN, Bush reiterated she has "a lot of confidence" in Palin.
"She's got a lot of really good common sense, and I think that's very important," Bush said. "She also has executive experience from being a governor and a mayor, and I'm thrilled to have the chance to vote for Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket."
Bush also said she agreed with those who have charged Palin is being treated unfairly because she is a woman.
"I do think there's a little bit of that going on, and I think it's to be expected," she said.
Laura Bush is in New York Wednesday promoting global literacy. She also met with political dissidents from around the world Tuesday, including a Burmese monk.
Now that is an oxymoron. Laura, you are an idiot, your husband had no experience for the office of President and he proved his incompetence time and time again.
Give me a break Laura and have you husband and his Cheney resign so we can get on with America.
Thanks Laura for telling it like it is.
Mrs Bush is one of the few with any integrity in the Bush White house. Yes I agree. Palin has no foreign policy experience. Not sure about the common sense; but the press has tried to cover her because she will not speak to the media. Why can't she face the media like everyone else. She is feeding into the sexism frenzy because she is walking around like a Barbie on parade who is for show but can't speak.
and we should listen to you because? what's your experience? Exactly, sit down and shut up. She deserves everything coming her way. what you think you can run your mouth then run and hide? She said Hillary was a disgrace to women when she cried sexism and talked about being treated unfairly. Now its her turn to feel the burn. She's not qualified to tie my shoes let alone run this country, and her views take power and authority away from women. I want my wife to be my equal not a slave. I think palin must have been a cave woman in a former life
Hehe. Oops. There goes the truth again. My bad.
Just say NO to Bush 44 and Caribou Barbie.
Go Obama/Biden!!!
Is this something that needed to be stated? I mean any American with a brain can see that Palin lacks in foreign policy, as well as a long list of other areas, and McBush is no better. It's time for Americans to take back their country by voting for Obama/Biden, the only ones who can get us out of the mess that the Republicans have put us in!! Barack The Vote!!!
Obama/Biden '08
NEWS FLASH: OBAMA AND BIDEN BOTH VOTED IN FAVOR OF THE INFAMOUS "BRIDGE TO NOWHERE" Democrats are pathetic........who's the liar now you idiots???!!!!!! The foundation of this great country.......Republicans........will win again because Democrats can't get their act together!!!!!
McCain/Palin 2008!!!!
This woman is also irrelevant.
She, too, has a condascending attitude about others and thinks her husband has DONE NO WRONG.
She needs to go ahead and move to her GEOTHERMAL Western White House.
I guess the Bushes can use 'alternative energy' just NOT THE REST OF US.
I can't wait until these holier than thou people are out of Washington and OUR OF OUR LIVES.
Bush thinks Palin is being treated unfairly. Is this the same Palin who has the media falling all over themselves to get pictures of a non-event at the United Nations. Shaking hands with global people is worth large crews of media–did you see all of the flashes? It looked like a setup prom picture.
I cannot dislike Laura Bush. Although, the LESS she says on behalf
of the Republican Party, the better for her.
She needs to get out of this mess and out of the way. Really.
Even Bono cancelled an appearance with Sarah. No Hype for Bono.
Sensationalism is not his style. He is a peacemaker and a humanitarian. The pictures of Sarah and the Foreign Big Wigs is
ALL the Republicans have. No Press. No conference. No interview.
Watch for "Pictures in People magazine that will "sensationalize" Sarah's meeting to appear that she is "knowledgeable on foreign
affairs" Remember people, they are only pictures.!!!! As the Reps
admit!!!!.
Obama Biden 2008
This isn't the time for on the job training.
Sarah Palin = Milli Vanilli
"Quick study"?
So, they round up a couple of miserable US poodles (Karzai et al) for a photo op.
THAT's her foreign policy "study"?
No legitimate foreign leader will stoop so low as to comply with this stunt - all the Repugs could manage was to round up a few losers all of whom are beholden to Shrub.
How pathetic!!
Does ANYONE with a double-digit IQ fall for this crap?
hmmm, I think this is kind of ridiculous. She's a quick study???? come on I don't want a quick study in the white house. I want a CONSTITUTIONAL PROFESSOR!
LOL and thats all i will say.
Doesn't anyone read the Alaska Daily News? I read that while mayor, Palin appointed an executive committee that did most of her work. While governor, the legislation was active for 400 days and she was home for 300 of them. Wow! What a lot of executive experience.
A GOOD STUDY?? This is getting more than ridiculous....
Funny how out of context her quote was taken. Interesting how CNN was looking for a specific answer, and asked the question in a way to get the answer in a way that they could turn into something like this.
Sad again that the Liberals – and THEIR press – can't come up with news to show what their boys are doing, but can only go after their opponents (and then whine about the negative campaigns!). I guess it is hard though when they find out how many times their boys backed old Palin on her bridge!!!!
More of the same from John McShame
John McLame says, “I don’t know much about the economy, I still need to be educated”
“It would be acceptable if we had to stay in Iraq for another 100 years.”
We need to “bomb, bomb, and bomb Iran”
“I have voted with Bush 90% of the time because he has been right 90% of the time”
Sarah Failin says,
“I have foreign policy experience because you can see Russia from Alaska and I went to Mexico on vacation once.”
“I welcome any investigation into my past because I have nothing to hide, oh never mind I will not meet with any investigators for any reason ever.”
She believes the Bush Doctrine is a “World View” hahaha
She says she said “No Thanks” for the Bridge to nowhere when she was actually the one who got it approved
She says we may have to go to war WITH RUSSIA
She decreased her own responsibilities when she was the mayor of a town small enough to be run by a fifth grader
😮
WOW
Yeah, fortunately McCain has plenty of foreign policy experience... waiting for Joe Lieberman to whisper the right answers in his ear and confusing Spain with a Latin American dictatorship.
Heaven Help Us!
Everyone realizes it.....except McCain.
Come on, Laura. Don't!!!!!!! Please don't start it!
I'm thrilled to have the chance to vote for Sarah Palin on the Republican ticket."
There u go, even Laura is voting for Sarah, not John!
News Flash.....
