McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate

(CNN) - McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned - but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

His VP candidate doesn't answer questions. He doesn't debate. Looks like his vision of democracy is a coronation. Will that work in America?

What a great way to not have Palin against Biden. Easy not to ever reschedule a VP debate in order to save Palin from Senater Biden. McCain will do anything to win. Graham is as weak as the economy.

McCain won't be any more prepared by then.
Ready for 3 am? Maybe in 2013. McCain is not right for president.
He has missed almost every session of the Senate this last two years running for President ( so did Obama) so NOW he cares about his day job when the election is only 6 weeks away?
    He's a joke!

The McCain camp has an obvious ulterior motive. They want to move the VP debate to give their incompetent puppet more time to cram.

And Mr. McCain – you completely overestimate your value. You think that by taking 2 hours to debate Obama on Friday night, this will effect the entire outcome of the bail out plan? What a joke.

McCain wants to cancel this Friday's debate. Than cancel the VP debate. THAN he will have the VP debate cancelled because there is not enought time. So once again, McCain can keep Palin away from having to answer any questions?????????? McCain wins Again!!!!

Now, THIS one's even less of a surprise than McCain's ploy. Palin knows she's doomed come October 2.

Perhaps the GOP should simply throw the campaign altogether.

If McCain was ahead in any polls, or had he NOT made any stupid comments about the economy, and then have to backtrack what he said, or maybe if didn't have an absolute idiot for a running mate, he would never dream of suspending his campaign, and trying to weasel out of the debate which he is unprepared for.

Gee John, maybe you think the people who vote are just as stupid and unprepared as you are, but you will find out when you will just live out your Golden Years in Retirement in Arizona or one of your other 12 houses .......

It appears that the McCain/Palin campaign is falling apart. This is not some game, there are no timeouts in this. If this was a foreign policy crisis I would understand considering McCain, Obama, and Biden are all on foreign policy related committees, but it is not. None of them will have direct access to these hearings. All they can do is give advice to their fellow senators which they have been doing all along. The "Straight Talk Express" is running on fumes, has an oil leak, overheating engine and four flat tires. Doesn't look they are going to get very far.
    Go Obama/Biden 2008

CNN just reported that McCain now wants to push back the 1st Presidential debate to NEXT Thursday, and NOT have the VP debate that night as scheduled!

There it is! That IS the point of the big McCain stunt today.

McCain’s STUNT of postponing the debate and “suspending” his campaign IS ALL ABOUT STOPPING PALIN FROM HAVING TO DEBATE BIDEN.

From An American With Eyes Wide Open This Time!

I can not believe the audacity of this man trying to hide behind the economic crisis to buy his VP Palin more time.

It is obvious she is not well versed in her political opinions and she needs more time to study so she may execute her rehearsed answers.

This is so pathetic. I just can not believe this man is going to this extreme to shelter his candidate to answer questions.

I cannot understand the hatred of Sarah Palin. All she did was accept the VP nomination offered her by John McCain.

I don't hate Joe Biden and I don't hate Barak Obama. I don't agree with them but unlike you, I am more civil....I have decided if you don't agree with liberals there is hell to pay.

My daughter refuse to go to school today. I asked her why. She said she did not study for her spelling test last night. I asked why she didn't make up an excuse like her head hurts or she is sick? She said, "I'm tired of making up excuses. It's too much work." McCain and Palin should learn from a 6 year old.

  25. Bunch Of CROCK!!!!

When I FIRST heard that McCain wanted to postpone the debate my first, First, FIRST THOUGHT – 'this guy is trying to buy Palin more time'; and THEN this article!!!! I must be psychic. . . . . .

I truly believe that Palin is not prepared to answer questions off the cuff and the McCain camp knows it, which explains why he's shielding her from the press AND NOW trying to push back her & Biden's debate.

There are hundreds of senators and representatives that will be in Washington to vote on the bailout bill and come up with a new one if that one happens to fail – trust me, two will not be missed!!!
