McCain camp to propose postponing VP debate

(CNN) - McCain supporter Sen. Lindsey Graham tells CNN the McCain campaign is proposing to the Presidential Debate Commission and the Obama camp that if there's no bailout deal by Friday, the first presidential debate should take the place of the VP debate, currently scheduled for next Thursday, October 2 in St. Louis.

In this scenario, the vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin would be rescheduled for a date yet to be determined, and take place in Oxford, Mississippi, currently slated to be the site of the first presidential faceoff this Friday.

Graham says the McCain camp is well aware of the position of the Obama campaign and the debate commission that the debate should go on as planned - but both he and another senior McCain adviser insist the Republican nominee will not go to the debate Friday if there's no deal on the bailout.

Since McChicken don't want to attend the debate and want the debate to be re- scheduled on the date that the VP's debate is scheduled than have the Biden/Palin debate on Friday and the Obama/McDonald's onOctober 2 in Saint Luis.

I bet that would make McSpineless come to Mississippi on Friday.

I get that we are in a major economic crisis, but do you think that we'll be able to ask the terrorists to not bomb us this week or that, because we're having issues at home. This is the President and Vice President of the Ubited States of America, if they can't multi-task, don't run. Everyone family, big or small has to deal with their lack of response to this crisis, until now. I think the American people deserve to hear our politicians!!! I don't think its time for them to run and hide from the people. It's way too late for that...

Oh this is a bunch of crap! Now McCain is trying to buy himself and Palin more time, this guy is a idiot. He needs to be a man and debate, instead of being a coward. This going to Washington "STUNT" is exactly what it is a stunt.

Graham is an idiot along with Lieberman. They are clearly trying to make this whole thing a political stunt and take off heat off of McCain because his fingerprints are all over this economic crisis.

The only thing that has changed from yesterday are the poll numbers improving for Obama. McCain did this to try to avert attention once again.

Yes, now we get to the REAL reason for this gimmick.

Failin' Palin needs more time in the "cone of silence" so at the VP debates she will appear to be a tad smarter than a PEZ dispenser!

The debates should go on I am sure Barr or Nader will take McCrypt's spot!

This is just an obvious ploy to get the VP debates cancelled. The McCain campaign knows that Biden will rip Sarah Palin to shreds.

Until the problems with Wal Street and the possible bail out is completed, McCain should be in Washington - Obama too! After all, the decisions made in Washington will affect all of us, and the economy has to be the major priority. Oh, but I forgot! Obam is used to missing votes, no voting, and just doing as he pleases. So, working with other congressmen and senators to develop a plan for our bleeding economy would not be a priority for him. This Democrat is voting MCCain/Palin!

Unbelievable...yet predictable at the same time.

I seriously doubt McCain or Obama will be spear-heading any agreements with this proposal.

Run away McSame. Can't McSame do more than one thing at once? Can't he debate without his 3×5 cards Karl Rove writes for him? Hey Lindsey Gram I hear you want to move this debate to Oct 2nd. I believe that's the VP debate. Come out come out Caribou Barbie. You and McSame will have to position yourselves on the world stage sooner or later. Tick tock 40 days to go!

McCain has been invovled in Congressional Activity long enough to know that Congress is not like KINKO'S, you can't just phone in your request and everything comes out picture perfect. McCain is not pushing his responsibility onto the same people responsible for creating the mess , like Obama is. What gives Obama so much confidence in these same bozo's that have been on the Banking committee and in control, and had oversight, and did ZERO ,for the last two years.Come on people,it's like letting the wolves guard the sheep. Has this Congress done anything to help main street in the last two years?Obama reminds me of Bush during Hurricaine Katrina, staying on the ranch and saying good job Brownie.Shows the difference experience makes.

I still would like to hear Obama speek on friday about what he thinks. So if McCain doesn't want to debate-what he can just say he can't because of what's going on. That is most likely just an excuse.I'm getting more turned off by the minute. He doesn't like to even answer questions.Neither does Palin. It's all politics.

Figured, they want to move the VP debate to Oxford where they have already said they have spend millions in preparing for the debate and they would not be able to accommodate if it is not held on Friday.

Which means, no debate for the GOP. Exactly what they want.

This is absolutely ridiculous and cheating the american people of seeing a debate between the next president of the united states.

Sounds like a way to give Palin more time to meet leaders and look like she has something to say when SHE finally debates. He thinks if he's lucky, he can postpone her debate until after November 4th.

Is this McCain's way of trying to save Sarah Palin from the American people. You have got to be kidding me.

The country already knows this woman is not ready to Debate Joe Biden and she isn't ready to be Vice President. If he is this unsure about her and her abitlity to handle the press, then he needs to replace her as his nominee.

I just cant believe this. This really makes the McCain Campaign look BAD!!!!!!
