[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/09/24/art.debate.gi.jpg caption="Obama wants to press on with the debate."](CNN) - Barack Obama is 'inclined" to go ahead with the debate Friday night, campaign sources tell CNN.

McCain said Wednesday the debate should be postponed if the economic bailout has not passed congress by that time.

Obama is expected to make a statement around 4:30 p.m. ET.

ok, he wasn't going to vote on this bailout, but now he is suspending his campaign.

    What a swell guy.

Do anything and say anything to win. Remind you of anything?

Thank you Obama! I am sick and tired of these stunts. The only difference in the last 24 hours is McStupid is falling farther behind in the polls.

It's obvious he's not inclined to take his butt whippin' like a man, which makes it even more important that you bring the heat on Friday!!!

    what a punk!

Since John McCain is such an expert on economics and market regulation, I'm sure he will be a big help on this bill.

Rediculous, obviously this is a political ploy. He want to show leadership but he just makes a bunch rash decisions.

Take this into account. Obama camp calls McCain camp at 830 am to form a joint statement on the bailout. At 230 pm, McCain calls back and agrees to work on the details. Less than 5 minutes later, the McCain camp realeases a 5 paragraph statement saying he's suspending his campaign and calling on everyone to come together.

I call bulldoodie on that. Where were you a week and half ago when all this started? Oh yeah, you were saying the fundamentals of the economy are strong.

DO NOT CANCEL THE DEBATE!!!! At the end of the day, we still have an election in November. The people need to know what these candidates are thinking ESPECIALLY during this financial crisis.

OBAMA NEEDS TO CALL HIM OUT ON THIS LITTLE POLITICAL MANUEVER. As of yesterday McCain wasn't even going to show up for the vote. The only difference today is the new polling numbers are bad for McCain, so time for another gimmick.

Yes! McCain's little political gimmick isn't going to work this time. It's obvious what is going on here. McSame has cold feet. McCain thought the economy was strong a couple of weeks agao and now he wants to start working on it?

Obama better not give in to McCain's stupid and obvious political ploy. The debates should go on. McCain has not cast a vote in Congress since April and he is not the one working on this bailout bill. So, why should the presidential campaigns stop! I for one would like to hear the candidates discuss how they are going to inherent this economic mess and how they are going to get us out of it.

McCain is a fool and is trying to play Americans like fools.

    GO FOR IT, SENATOR OBAMA!

There is NO reason to cancel the debate.........the topic could include the ECONOMICS of what we're faced with right now in the United States.

Don't let Senator McCain run away from this one!

Good Obama. Of course there will be a debate. For McCain to suspend his campaign to the economic crisis is a gimmick. McCain said yesturday that his vote on the bailout bill was not neccessary. McCain deregulated the markets and has not voted on a bill since April. All of a sudden the economy is so important to McCain he wants to vote on the bill. Please. Don't fall for it. McCain is running scared because he is falling behind on the polls.

McCain is scared. Plain and simple. There's no reason to cancel a nationally televised debate just because of the status of the bailout. Come on. Cancel other events, if you must, but not the debate. Next thing we know he's going to want to cancel the VP debate too.

McCain is runing from the debate and they are trying to keep Palin out of the spot light!!!!!!! P.O.T.U.S. is something that is too serious to put on hold. MCCAIN IS CRAZY AND THIS IS A PLOY TO KEEP HIS FALLING NUMBERS FROM FALLING MORE. SUSPENDING HIS CAMPAIGN WILL NOT MAKE THE 700B PLAN GO ANY SMOOTHER. HE HAS ONE VOTE AS A SENATOR BUT THE PRESINDENT HAS A LOUDER VOICE. Obama needs to keep the pressure on the slick GOP. They are hiding Palin and now they want to hide McCain. The GOP are weak and they are trying to pull a fast one. ELECTING A PRESIDENT IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN A MERE 700 BILLION DOLLARS. DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY THIS NATION MAKES AND IS CAPABLE OF MAKING? VOTE FOR OBAMA 08 AND 2012.

Oh please let's not stop the debate!!! 2 hours of their time isn't asking too much. Americans need this opportunity to see the candidates deal with issues. They can do more than one thing at a time if they are prepared, intelligent, and knowledgeable. Lord knows as President they will have to. This seems like a ploy from the McCain campaign and I don't think the debate should be allowed to be canceled for America!!
