Polls show McCain, Obama nearly tied in Virginia

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/09/24/art.polls.gi.jpg caption="McCain holds a very narrow lead in Virginia."](CNN) - A new CNN poll of polls out of Virginia Wednesday shows John McCain with the slimmest of leads in what is a state that has traditionally been considered a safe bet for Republicans.

The latest round of polls could be a clear warning sign for McCain six weeks before Election Day that the Republican presidential nominee still has work to do to lock down certain states that previous GOP nominees had to spend little time or effort doing so.

In the latest poll of polls, the Arizona senator only holds a 1 point lead over Barack Obama (47-46 percent) while 7 percent remain undecided. The poll of polls is an average of three recent surveys of the state.

The Obama campaign has long targeted Virginia as part of their strategy to expand the electoral map, feeling it is virtually impossible for McCain to win the White House if the Illinois senator is victorious in traditionally red states.

Update: The McCain campaign held a conference call with reporters to give their view of recent poll trends Wednesday morning, including polling averages that show tight races in the most crucial battleground states.

Watch for new CNN polls out of Colorado, Montana, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin at 4 p.m.!

SS, I am a Republican, and I hate to agree with you. My party has been so busy trying to attract the bigot vote until we have lost sight of our fundamentals. I never thougth I would see the day when the Democrats not only had a higher moral ground, but just right all the way around.

Republicans who will not go home because of McCain and Palin. Go Obama.

Why are we talking about this when our "misunderstood" friend from Iran is talking trash on our own soil? Does this not concern anyone?

CNN, you always seem to anxious to let the voters know when Obama is either ahead or closing the lead held by McCain but we hardly ever hear the same when its McCain. I am now tired of your bias against McCain and I am disappointed that a media outlet such as CNN is so totally absorbed on the Obama side. Why does CNN not come right out and say that they endorse Obama so we will know then that's why the reporting is so one-sided. When we do see reports on McCain/Palin they are always so negative that I don't even read them anymore. The same way your reporters can go and dig up negative reports on Palin why don't CNN really, really start probing in Obama's background.

With this investigation going on now by the FBI regarding Wall Street, I am sure there are alot of democrats and also Obama's campaign people are worried because there may be things out there that we have not heard of as yet. Let's see which side is going to be involved in this corruption.

The only thing I know is that the last time we listened to the pundits and talking heads in conservative media, we ended up with George Bush. Enough said.

NC is a state filled with really great, decent, kind, respectful, honest, patriotic Americans so Obama cannot win that one. However, Virginia is being infested by the worst people in America from the DC metro area moving there and giving more and more votes to the immoral, hateful, dishonest, anti-American liberal Democrats.

Everyone needs to know that this is all about color, Red Vs. Blue that is, not the lies that the lib media is telling you. The good people of this nation who are honest, do the right thing, support their own families, give to the takers through insane taxes, and want this nation to prosper and be its best must unite and understand that a socialist in the White House might be a nice wake up call to save our nation in the long term. However, this nation may not survive 4 years of Obama, and worst of all, we may not have the oppertunity to vote him out when that right among many others we hold dear, are taken from us from the left.

Just read their posts, do you not think a majority of Democrats don't want at the very least the rights of Americans who disagree with them stripped away? I think at this point it is clear that they want us exterminated as well. The average liberal Democrat is more against a conservative American than they are an Al Queda terrorist, they now admit to this, they don't even try to hide it. Wake up before it is too late.

Here is what "Jim's Poll Extraordinaire" says, McCain is leading in majority of the states, especially in Florida, Ohio, Colorado, Virginia and Michigan. It is as reliable as all the polls out there, and I did not have to spend a dime to conduct it.
Publish this and I expect a lot of comments.
