Palin: Russia's my next door neighbor

(CNN) - Sarah Palin defended the claim that Alaska’s proximity with Russia helps bolster her foreign policy resume in an interview released Thursday.
The Republican VP nominee, asked by CBS’s Katie Couric what she meant by that statement said: “That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land - boundary that we have with - Canada.
“…our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of,” said Palin.
The Alaska governor, asked if she had ever engaged in negotiations with Russia, said the country had swapped trade missions with her state. “It's very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where do they go? It's Alaska. It's just right over the border,” she said.
“It is from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to our state."
Palin has spent the week meeting with foreign leaders in New York, as she seeks to boost her national security and foreign policy credentials.
BTW – why hasn't she added Canada to her resume? It's next door as well.
Who are these people who actually believe this mess that she has an actual argument. When we were in the cold war- Alaska was NEVER, let me repeat, NEVER in jeopardy of being attack. Hawaii is more so than Alaska.
Russian planes fly through Alaskan airspace, therefore Palin has enough foreign policy experience to be V.P.
I live near the airport with jets from BA, Lufthansa, Air France, Alitalia, Aer Lingus, Varig, Swissair, etc, etc flying over me. I guess that makes me qualified to be Secretary-General of the U.N.!
America needs new vetting laws for vp candidates.

Enough said... I want her on the ticket...
No regard for Intelligence, Experience or anything that would qualify her as a VP or if worse comes to worse POTUS.
McCain's judgement is questionable at best, dangerous or lacking of any intelligence at the worst.

I think that people are giving her too hard of a time. She is not just a neighbor to Russia, but plays an intricate role in governing the borders that Russia must at least to soem extent. And that is ultimately what she is trying to stress, at least I hope it is... Of course, it may not make her as qualified as Biden when it comes to foreign relations–at least in terms of experience, but it does give her something.
I would like to see Palin go back to Alaska and be the governor of a state that she is suited to lead.

Incredibly, there are about 5-10 delusional people who have posted on here who actually think that Palin is a good candidate for VP. Those 5-10 people are amazingly misguided. How can you defend this woman who can't even form a coherent thought, but claims she'll be ready on Day 1?
Since this woman has been asked to be VP, lets be for real, the McCain campaign has treated her like nothing but a pinup girl. Ken, I was a Hillary supporter too and this woman is as more worse than that miss teen usa girl. You can lie to yourself all you want. I was going to vote for McCain I am actually a volunteer in one of his offices but this is too sick to watch. I called our captain and bailed ship. Our office in OH has lost 4 people this week switching to Obama all who were true Hillary followers. I am sorry but this is not going to cut it this time. I would rather vote for the lesser of the 2 evils.
