McCain camp releases ad claiming debate victory

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/09/26/art.mccain.wins.debate.jpg caption="The McCain campaign released a web ad Friday claiming McCain won the debate."]
(CNN) - The time between the final answer in any presidential debate and the campaign press release declaring victory can usually best be measured in milliseconds. But John McCain’s campaign – which has been downplaying his performance at Friday’s faceoff, offering praise for opponent Barack Obama’s “eloquence” and debating skill – seems to have decided it’s never too soon to start spinning the outcome.

The Washington Post reported Friday that the campaign was running an online ad featuring the headline: "McCain Wins Debate!" and a photo of a smiling McCain and an American flag background. Another featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis: "McCain won the debate - hands down."

The Obama campaign quickly circulated the report – which came moments before McCain’s team confirmed he would take part in the evening debate after all.

McCain will win, hands down. Unless Obama can use a teleprompter during the debate. I hope Obama memorized the correct answers to the questions, either that or the first 300 in the seats will be his advisors!!!!!!!

Seriously? What is wrong with McCain? Is there some parallel universe the rest of us are not privy to where he is actually relevant?
I honestly think that he is mentally disturbed. Something isn't right with his behaviour. Campaigs take on the attitude and behaviour of their leader. And in the case of the McCain campaign, it's gone plain fruitcake. This man needs to be ushered out quitely by the Repub's and replaced with someone competent.

    This is all too wierd.

I can't believe there are people out there who actually want to vote for this guy! Are they watching any news coverage at all? I am outraged at the Christians, who choose lies over truth, and color over issues. If there is light at the end of this tunnel, I hope it shines like a beacon on John McCain!

It's not a lie if you tell it enough times, eh Johnny?
Can't get started to early with something like this, just more time to keep the message out there.

What about those secret payents to your campaign advisor from FM?

I am tired of seeing pictures of McCain looking goofy and silly. It is time for the ex-fighter pilot to give us 'substance' and the 'straight talk'. So far all we have seen are gimmicks and "Look at Me" tricks. We expect more from the next president than this dramarama. ENOUGH!

The McCain camp has no rudder – they just lurch about from one random ploy to another random talking point. I'm sorry, but I take the issues that this nation faces much more seriously than this. And I support Obama because he obviously takes things seriously too, and approaches problems in a steady rational manner to find solutions. I don't know what's going on with McCain's campaign, but he sure doesn't take this as seriously as a Presidential candidate should.

I guess someone screwed up by confirming what we all already know. McCain's campaign strategy is to say and do whatever he thinks will win him the election, regardless of pesky things like "facts", or our existence in time that carries us from past to future and not the other way around.

Well sure, why not? Without a telepromter, I believe my dog can beat Obama in a debate. At least my dog doesn't stutter when she barks.
