Palin lays low in Philadelphia, goes jogging

PHILADELPHIA (CNN) - With the eyes of the political world focused on the legislative drama unfolding in Washington, D.C. and on tonight’s presidential debate in Mississippi, Sarah Palin is keeping a low profile in Philadelphia, where she will spend the coming days preparing for her own debate against Sen. Joseph Biden.

After a marathon series of meetings with international heads of state in New York earlier this week, Palin is now holed up in her Philadelphia hotel with a cadre of domestic and foreign policy advisers, studying for next Thursday's vice presidential debate in St. Louis. Her campaign plane, a JetBlue charter, left Palin and her staff behind in Pennsylvania Friday in order to fly John McCain’s staffers and press corps to Mississippi.

Palin is expected to make a brief appearance Friday night at a local debate watching party at an Irish pub before returning to her room to watch the much-anticipated face-off between McCain and Barack Obama.

It’s not all work for the vice presidential nominee, however. These “down days,” as they are known on the campaign trail, have allowed Palin to make time for one of her favorite hobbies – jogging.

Palin has said she enjoys running cross-country in Alaska because “it thrashes your guts and your lungs and your thighs.”

The governor has gone running with her Secret Service agents along the Schuylkill River in Philadelphia for two days in a row, donning a pink “McCain-Palin” baseball cap, a black Nike windbreaker and shorts, and Nike running shoes. She timed each of her runs with a digital wristwatch.

Her workout on Thursday lasted 25 minutes. On Friday, she jogged a path along the river for nearly 40 minutes, with her daughter Willow joining her for part of the run.

We'd ALL be better off if she just jogged all the way back to Wasilla, Alaska.

Marathon meetings ... being holed up in Pennsylvania until her debate ... doesn't leave much time for bonding with her baby does it? Sure hope that wasn't too sexist of a thing to say,or, women don't do that anymore! Just a thought!

This woman is completely out of her league and should step down from being the GOP VP. I dont even understand how she was elected governor of Alaska in the first place. Every time she responds to any question its like watching an infant struggle to walk.

Barbie is light-years from being qualified to be VP.

After watching and listening to her in the rare interviews she gives, I am amazed she has the position she currenly holds in Alaska.

Doesn't say much for Alaskans when making decisions as important as choosing their political leaders.

Maybe Palin should get couple of books on foreign policy making Putin and the talk to them!! What a scary thought that she could become a V.P. and be a potential president if McCain dies !! What a joker we are becoming to the world even to make such an incompetent, unqualified and immature person to run for V.P !! As Barbara Straisand said hopefully, "WE ARE NOT THAT STUPID!!!!!"

You don't mention that her appearance at The Irish Pub on Walnut St. is by invitation only – No Press Invited.

By the way this was not a comedy club with stand up comics until tonight.

Palin is a victim of John McCain's poor judgement for VP Pick. I think McCain is in love with Joe Lieberman and defaulted to Palin for foolish reasons. If Palin had just been asked to do the Key Note speech, she would have had a political career ahead of her as she learned more and maybe served as a state senator, etc. Now her career is in the Tank thanks to McCain. That is good news for the better candidate, Obama, and people are starting to see how much more steady and calm he is compared to McCain's irratic swings and flip flops.

"Palin has said she enjoys running cross-country in Alaska because “it thrashes your guts and your lungs and your thighs.” "

And it totally rips your quads amirite?

You know that thing Stan does all the time on South Park, where he squeezes the bridge of his nose with thumb and forefinger while wincing, in reaction to some new ridiculous stupidity?

    Palin makes me do that.

I think if Palin steps down, it would be a further sign of McCain willingness to use Gov. Palin as an obvious political ploy to gain the support of women and angry Clinton Supporters. I think this "use" of Palin is more offensive to women than anything else. Just because Palin is a woman does not mean that she should be Vice President and a potential heartbeat away from the Presidency. I would love to vote for a female vice president and/or president, but not if that woman is clearly unqualified for the position. If Clinton had won the democratic nomination, I would be supporting and voting for her at this moment, because, first of all, I was a Clinton Supporter in a beginning, but also because Clinton was clearly qualified-she knew her stuff, she had foreign policy experience and a core philosophy, and she had a domestic policy philosophy that could be clealy articulated. The reason I'm support Obama is because he too has a clear and articulate foreign policy and domestic policy philosophy and insightful understanding of the complexity of this world. Palin is a joke and I am tired of people not realizing this. She should not be felt sorry for. She should know what she is talking about, and she DOES NOT!!! This was McCain's first major decision as a potential president, and he failed horribly.

It doesn't matter how low she lays now, the cat's out of the bag – everyone is painfully aware of how ignorant and intellectually simplistic she is. Ineptitude of this level will not simply be forgotten by the voters.
