Palin: U.S. should never 'second-guess' Israel

CNN

Watch: In her third TV interview, Gov. Sarah Palin raises eyebrows with some of her comments.

(CNN) - The United States should not second guess actions Israel takes in the name of security, Sarah Palin seemed to suggest in a Thursday interview.

The Republican VP nominee recently said that she would never "second guess Israel if that country decided to attack Iran." Speaking with Katie Couric of CBS News, she stood by that quote.

“We shouldn't second guess Israel's security efforts because we cannot ever afford to send a message that we would allow a second Holocaust, for one,” she said. “Israel has got to have the opportunity and the ability to protect itself. They are our closest ally in the Mideast. We need them. They need us. And we shouldn't second guess their efforts.”

The Alaska governor said the United States should be free to relay its rights our concerns, but “we don't have to second-guess what their efforts would be if they believe ... that it is in their country and their allies, including us, all of our best interests to fight against a regime, especially Iran, who would seek to wipe them off the face of the earth,” said Palin. “It is obvious to me who the good guys are in this one and who the bad guys are.”

Palin spent the week meeting with foreign leaders in New York.

I am a strong supporter of Israel, and a proud supporter of Obama. Obama is the much better bet for a strong USA. And a strong USA is good for Israel.

  3. McCain Invented the BlackBerry, Palin Invented the Manure Spreader

I cringed when I watched this.

Fortunately for Palin, McCain's blundering into Washington and screwing up the rescue deal have drawn attention away from her.

Maybe McCain can further cripply the U.S. economy during her debate next week, so no one notices that either.

And Sarah Palin should just do us all a huge favor by shutting up and quitting play-acting that she has any qualification at all to be Vice President!

Interesting thought it seemed like she was digging deep to remember what she was thought and from her reservoir I guess this was the best response she could come up with.

Now that the debate is back on, we can focus for a while on all of the stories that McCain was trying to distract us from. And Palin's interview performance is one of them. McCain made a risky and impulsive choice when he picked her for VP, and with every appearance she shows that McCain did not have the integrity to put the 'country first' when he chose his VP.

This is getting past the point of absurdity. There are no absolutes in the national security debate. QUESTION EVERYTHING. Every act by a foreign nation must be weighed and examined to determine whether it was just and righteous and to analyze how precisely it effects our interests. There can be no presumptions.

Could she be more blatant about trying to sway jewish voters in FL? Really. She's a complete muttonhead and would have us sending troops into Iran or Russia before you can say "apocalypse".

Israel, like the US, has its share of good governance and patches of bad. A lot of countries second guessed the US when we invaded Iraq and the majority of them (especially in the EU) still have their economies and monetary value intact.

How can she not propose to look at the situation and work out a mutually beneficial agreement? I'm not a big fan of blind faith like what the Bush administration thrived upon.

Fantastic there, Sarah. If Israel attacked Iran or vice-versa first, then you can "kiss" the Middle East goodbye. That's like McCain's "bomb, bomb, bomb Iran" statement a few months ago. If it ends up in a nuclear confrontation, think about the consequences...The movie, "On the Beach (the original that is), gives a pretty good picture of what could happen. There are neither "good guys" or "bad guys", Sarah....only losers, no winners.
