Palin: U.S. should never 'second-guess' Israel

CNN

Watch: In her third TV interview, Gov. Sarah Palin raises eyebrows with some of her comments.

(CNN) - The United States should not second guess actions Israel takes in the name of security, Sarah Palin seemed to suggest in a Thursday interview.

The Republican VP nominee recently said that she would never "second guess Israel if that country decided to attack Iran." Speaking with Katie Couric of CBS News, she stood by that quote.

“We shouldn't second guess Israel's security efforts because we cannot ever afford to send a message that we would allow a second Holocaust, for one,” she said. “Israel has got to have the opportunity and the ability to protect itself. They are our closest ally in the Mideast. We need them. They need us. And we shouldn't second guess their efforts.”

The Alaska governor said the United States should be free to relay its rights our concerns, but “we don't have to second-guess what their efforts would be if they believe ... that it is in their country and their allies, including us, all of our best interests to fight against a regime, especially Iran, who would seek to wipe them off the face of the earth,” said Palin. “It is obvious to me who the good guys are in this one and who the bad guys are.”

Palin spent the week meeting with foreign leaders in New York.

This stupid statement sure makes me glad I'm a Canadian and as bad we might think some of our politicians are I am forever grateful they had the common sense to second guess Bush with his invasion of Iraq.

If Sara Palin were a disease she'd be incurable. Imagine just blindly supporting anyone without looking for the facts. She is nuts!

Poor Sarah...that was just AWFUL! Good looks and charm just aren't going to cut it. Especially when McCain's age and health to last at least 4 years as President are in doubt.

I wonder if she could find Israel on a map or pronounce the Prime Minister's name?

If so, then judging by the Bush yardstick, she's sufficiently qualified for the job to which she aspires.

Palin is a complete IDIOT!!! First of all Israel has a smart Government that believes in diplomacy and discussing situation with there allies, the US. So I doubt we would ever have to second guess them because, AIR HEAD, we would probably have already been part of the decision. Go back to Alaska, you make me sick!!!

McCain for Pres. September 26th, 2008 2:04 pm ET
To all the people making fun of Sarah Palin, You need to be afraid, because she has more on the ball and more experience than your presidential candidate and that's a fact that should really scare you. Comparing her to Biden is like comparing Obama to McCain, but she is running for VP not President. I guess that's why all you can do is tomock her, but the joke is on you.

This is exactly what I mean when I said that Mccain supporters make up false arguments to support huge mistakes made by the mccain campaign. If Mccain would have chosen Gov. Romney the race would be much closer. The point is that Mccain has mad costly errors that will cost him this election, and people are still supporting him.

Anyone, Republic, Democrat, man or woman, who may, by circumstance or otherwise, wind up as the CEO of America, should be deemed unfit for office after making a statement that basically says that 'regardless of the US national interest, we will support a nation, in this case Israel, in whatever they decide to do in the name of THEIR national interest.'

You already has a financial melt-down because America's leaders decided to work in favour of Wall Street's interest vice the national interest. Look where it got you. A financial mushroom cloud.

By ignoring what is really in the US' national interest for Israel's, the next mushroom cloud may be literal.

She is a total IDIOT and has no clue that she is a joke. It's more than scary - she doesn't realize she sounds so STUPID and wants to lead this country. Lord have mercy.

At this point in the juncture, how can anyone still be undecided? The choice is clear. Continue to sink into a financial disaster= McCain/Palin. Turn this country around and back into a surplus= Obama/Biden. It is really that simple people.

    Posted by Yes!!!!!! above:

    What is the criticism here?

"Does ANY country – including the US- accord other countries, even allies the RIGHT to second-guess them?

This is standard fare- each nation is sovereign and does not allow OTHER nations the right to dictate their policy- especially when it concerns security. What is the criticism here?"

Okay, I guess the only way other countries should allow the U.S. to second guess them is if the U.S. attacks a soverign nation through an illegal war........second guessing other nations is called DIPLOMACY. It is something Americans should learn to use in the foreign arena as it costs a lot less than wars.

She's no Einstein, but she doesn't have to be a genius. The purpose of Sarah's selection was to solidify the base. She did that. Too bad John is stuck with her. She can't put together one intelligent sentence.

Katie Couric asked for specific examples of John McCain being a maverick in Congress, other than Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.

    Sarah's answer:
"l'll try to find that out and get back ta ya."

Well, don't hold your breath on that one America because she's educationally challenged.

Our society should respect education and intelligence and reject this person. She is a joke. An ignorant, poorly informed joke.
