Palin: U.S. should never 'second-guess' Israel

CNN

Watch: In her third TV interview, Gov. Sarah Palin raises eyebrows with some of her comments.

(CNN) - The United States should not second guess actions Israel takes in the name of security, Sarah Palin seemed to suggest in a Thursday interview.

The Republican VP nominee recently said that she would never "second guess Israel if that country decided to attack Iran." Speaking with Katie Couric of CBS News, she stood by that quote.

“We shouldn't second guess Israel's security efforts because we cannot ever afford to send a message that we would allow a second Holocaust, for one,” she said. “Israel has got to have the opportunity and the ability to protect itself. They are our closest ally in the Mideast. We need them. They need us. And we shouldn't second guess their efforts.”

The Alaska governor said the United States should be free to relay its rights our concerns, but “we don't have to second-guess what their efforts would be if they believe ... that it is in their country and their allies, including us, all of our best interests to fight against a regime, especially Iran, who would seek to wipe them off the face of the earth,” said Palin. “It is obvious to me who the good guys are in this one and who the bad guys are.”

Palin spent the week meeting with foreign leaders in New York.

"We know who the bad guys are. Bad guys wear black masks and striped shirts."

  2. Johnny (Mc) come lately...

We heard this one already during her first interview. If the McCain camp legitimately likes and respects this woman, why don't they write her some new material.

"Don't blink" "Don't 2nd guess Israel" "Thanks but no thanks!"

Yes, Sarah. Thanks but no thanks!

I am truly trying to understand why anyone could think that Palin could function as VP, let alone Pres. I guess it's just people who support their party (Republican) no matter what. No thinking person could actually believe she is capable of successfully filling the role. Anyone care to help me understand WHY she could do this job? Because I'm not seeing it. At all.

What an idiot. A good friend and ally is not just there to support you, they are also there to be your number one critic. We should second guess EVERYTHING they do, as we should second guess everything WE do. And they should return the favor! That's how an alliance works!

You should see the reaction of people in Europe and elsewhere. It's almost like the rest of the world is in shock at the depth of dishonesty displayed every day by McCain and the simple stupidity displayed every day by Palin. It's fascinating.

I hope Senator Biden is able to address some of this garbage that she's been spewing lately "if" and when they meet next week.

But I also sincerely hope that he does not come across as too aggressive and thus diminish the vast emptiness of her words and candidancy and have it turned around and it become about him rather than her ineptness.

All you partisans on both sides should cool it. Do we need to crucify anyone we don't agree with? My take on Sarah Palin? Is she a bright, successful woman and mother? You bet! Is she qualified to be VP? No way! Has she been treated like sht by the McCain campaign? ABSOLUTELY! She never had a chance because the McCain camp never had her back. You can see her lack of self-confidence in her face. The true sexists in this campaign are John McCain and his staff. If I were her, I'd leave this trainwreck and head home. No one would think the less of her if she did. Anyone who still thinks McCain should be President shouldn't be allowed to vote. PERIOD!

Holly crap! Ok, Republicans, how is this not just crazy? Sure it plays well to the Bubba vote, but what this kind of thing does is give free reign to Israel to suck us into a further war with the Islamic Faith.

Caribou Barbie can talk tough about Obama all she likes, but saber rattling like this has ramifications. My god, don't let this woman anywhere near the Presidency!

    Well Sarah,

This coming from a person who stated, “…our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They're in the state that I am the executive of,”

What the heck????? "They're (Russia and Canada) in the state that I am executive of."

You are in the state of Alaska, Russia and Canada are not a part of Alaska. You my dear, are in a state of confusion.

John McCain should have second guessed his pick of you for V.P. Personally, I would have picked Heidi Klum as she has far more international experience and is better looking.

So we're all supposed to bow down before Israel, a nation that condones and practices state sanctioned executuons of those it deems to be its enemies. Well, to hell with that and to hell with Palin: the only woman in government who is a greater disgrace to all women than Pelosi. To Hell with them both...While the greatest rat of them all, Hoyer, whips his majorly minor meat in the background.

What an idiot. Palin, Wake up pretty please. Stop with the beauty pageant answers. The real world is complicated, and guess what? Israel is not always right, or acting with our best interest in mind. If they screw up we will let them know, just as we would any other nation. After all, self-proclaimed bulldog in lipstick, don't Republicans pride themselves on being the world's watchdogs? Maybe you should stick to not making statements to the press, m'kay?!?

I sure wish Palin would stop talking, she's killing McCain's chances of winning. Picking her was a terrible mistake, but if she stops talking we might still be able to win.

Oh Please. She is disgusting – stupid. This is sad and it would be funny if it wasn't so scary. She has no idea what she is talking about. It seems that she wants EVERYONE attacked – Iran, Russia. She needs to go back to her life in Alaska with her wacky, weird comments. Can she see Israel from her kitchen window? She isn't qualified to make a statement about anything. I bet the GOP wishes McCain had done some vetting on this woman. She is out of it.

When the election is over,,,,,Sarah can go back to Alaska and shoot a moose,,,,,,.Since her arrival into BIG-BOY politics,,,,,,more than once has she shot herself in the foot. Later on in life when she has become a little wiser,,,,,,hopefully she will realize that McCain used her for John McCain's,,,,,,not America's best interests. McCain has Sarah out there on the stump PIMPING FOR HIM. I have the feeling that the once proud Senator is losing his mind. His has become paranoid over the presidency. Sarah has become the laughing stock of the world. Senator McCain should be ashamed of himself.

This woman can never be given the White House. I just hope Americans view it the same way I do. If McCain truly cared for his country he would not have picked Palin as his running mate. That to me is an irresponsible decision.

Every time Palin opens her mouth she proves to the American people that she is not even close to being vice presidential material.
She is just another mistake that John McCain made – proving to us that he is unfit for the presidency.
The 2 of them together spells doom to our country.
