Palin: U.S. should never 'second-guess' Israel

CNN

Watch: In her third TV interview, Gov. Sarah Palin raises eyebrows with some of her comments.

(CNN) - The United States should not second guess actions Israel takes in the name of security, Sarah Palin seemed to suggest in a Thursday interview.

The Republican VP nominee recently said that she would never "second guess Israel if that country decided to attack Iran." Speaking with Katie Couric of CBS News, she stood by that quote.

“We shouldn't second guess Israel's security efforts because we cannot ever afford to send a message that we would allow a second Holocaust, for one,” she said. “Israel has got to have the opportunity and the ability to protect itself. They are our closest ally in the Mideast. We need them. They need us. And we shouldn't second guess their efforts.”

The Alaska governor said the United States should be free to relay its rights our concerns, but “we don't have to second-guess what their efforts would be if they believe ... that it is in their country and their allies, including us, all of our best interests to fight against a regime, especially Iran, who would seek to wipe them off the face of the earth,” said Palin. “It is obvious to me who the good guys are in this one and who the bad guys are.”

Palin spent the week meeting with foreign leaders in New York.

    Question to the Obama Supporters:

I thought Barrack Obama is Patriotic, I just notice that he is using A320 aircraft for his campaign. What happen to Boeing made Aircraft.

    Question to the McCain Supporters:
Did McCain just have the biggest un-Presidential lapses?

I am ALMOST feeling sorry for Palin (empathesis on ALMOST!).

I didn't bother watching the FIXED Noise interview as they are so in the tank for McCain that it is ridiculous. Watching her other two interviews so far, her CBS interview is acually WORSE than her ABC interview. She hasn't drowned Katie by saying her name every other sentence but her answers show no understanding of how to construct a proper sentence. The substance of her answers are even worse!!! She is still on this kick that she is a knowledgeable on foriegn affairs because she lives next to Russia! WOW!!!

As much as I find fault with Palin, this is really more indicative of the type of person that McCain is. Country First??? Yeah right!

At the moment I'm looking at some intelligent, if not very nuanced, comments from Sarah Palin, regarding Israel. I'm also seeing about 7 comments below, none of which contain a single intelligent thought, and most of which lack even coherent sentences. I'm worrying less and less about Sarah Palin, and more and more about the rest of the population.

Never second guess Israel? Even if it means fighting a nuclear war? The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of our military told the Israeli's to calm down and Silly Sarah wants to unleash WW III.

This lady is not only uninformed but downright dangerous!

We can't have one silly old fool that's so confused he doesn't know where he's going from day to day and another silly liar who makes stuff up as she goes. Don't you wonder why they are shielding Palin from the press? Will you vote from someone that is engaging in "witch hunting" at her church and enemy hunting at home in Alaska?

Huh? You've got to be kidding me! Never second guess another country? What makes Israel so special that we can't second guess their actions? Now we see why McSame won't let his brilliant VP selection talk to the press. God save us from these people!

She's ridiculous. Everything out of her mouth is clearly a regurgitation of what she's been told to say. And to make matters worse, in an effort to support her statements, she repeats herself 3 or 4 times. This VP candidate has no clear grasp on the complexity and sensitivity of the political climate in the Middle East. She's a joke. McCain should have selected the Florida governor.

This woman is obviously not ready to be VP. She needs to step down. McCain should be ashamed of himself for thinking so little of woman that he would pick someone like her.

  13. Israel's the Problem

It's just the opposite. America should never give Israel a blank check on anything. Israel has committed ethnic cleansing against the Palestinians, 1.3 million of whom remain stuck in refugee camps 41 years after end of 6 Days War. And America has gotten blamed for it, because of its support for Israel.

  15. Canadian POV

It is always good to respect the opinions of all people but seriously, how can anyone take this woman seriously. She has been a VP candidate for one month and has still not had an unscripted meeting with reporters. Do you really want her to be a heartbeat from the Oval Office? Really? I understand that in your country many are born into political affiliations and vote for the party of their family without regard for the issues but, how, with all due respect, can anyone think Palin is qualifed? More frightening are those touting her to run for president in 2012. Its making more and more sense that the US is losing its world powers to Russia, China and a unifed EU.

The only way Palin will make it through a debate with anyone, is that each question is given to her a week in advance so she can study the answer day and night. There can be no type changes in the questions.

Just to think, members of the media tried to blame her ignorance on her loss of confidence. I can't believe anyone thought this lady could be a substitute for Hillary.

Yeah ...dont second guess Israel. Allow Israel to go after Iran like that is the best possible option. When will these repugnants realize that war is not the only solution to world situations. Im afraid that we would have more international conflicts if allow this mooseburger eater in the white house. Oh ...a posible war with Russia. Holy cow! Im moving to Argentina

Wow. Drivel. Complete DRIVEL! And yet, the neo-morons just eat it up! It seems the dumber you are, the more qualified you are to lead within the [R] party. It was proven to be so in 2000 and 2004 also.

Let's elect the smart ones this time. We haven't tried that since 1996; over a decade ago. Please vote for Obama/Biden. God gave us brains; let's try to use them to get out of the mess we're in.

Anyone who saw the interview with Katie Couric on CBS and Sarah Palin and still believe Palin should be VP worries me. She doesn*t have a clue!!!! Her responses to the questions made absolutely no

She is a joke I am sorry to have to say this. She was chosen for show only. The show is over and she must drop out before her debate with Biden. No one can hold him responsible for what happens to her in that debate. Another bad judgement on McCain's behalf. WoooooooooooooW

Sarah Palin is dangerously ignorant. Although Israel is a sovereign nation with the right to defend itself against attack it is our responsibility to encourage Israel to engage in diplomacy with their adversaries. I think it's a mistake to unilaterally support Israel on every issue. That should not be the U.S.'s role.

Palin is so blind on international relations. She is willing to give license for Israel to kill (more). Or is she going to send more innocent US troops to do the killing for Israel? No national should be given unconditional rights to launch attack on other nation without any justification. Palin is more dangerous then Mr. Bush. Palin does not have any understanding. That makes her the potential most dangerous person in power.

Before the Republican's picked her they had to know she was not very bright with what the country needs. I almost feel sorry for her. I think they set her up and she easily took the bait.

I often thought we had a few more educated folks in the U.S. It seems our puppet master (Israel) has already conditioned our potential natioal leaders. America, you need to free yourself from the Israeli slavemaster. We don't owe this country a damm thing. Governor Palin is very confused about what's important, perhaps a bit more schooloing will do her good.

wow! she is amazing!! siiiike! i mean.... for one, i notice that for the 3 interviews she's had thus far, she always repeats herself more than three time in a row..... and she got a degree in journalism?? i dunno, that smells funny.... either she is just oblivious to world issues and reponds in a mechanic way, as if programmed, or i dunno what..... there is no explanation about her responses orther than SHE JUST DOESNT KNOW!
and how dare she go out talkin about we shouldnt second guess..... we are a dimocracy, and yes we shud back up israel.... but there has to be other solutions thatt can be searched or what not.
    she is truly dumb!
