OXFORD, Mississippi (CNN) - McCain's scoring points on Obama's opposition to the so-called surge in Iraq, a buildup of forces that McCain vigorously supported.
Obama's argument is that McCain was wrong on going to war in Iraq. McCain's arguing that Obama was wrong on the surge.
Schneider, are we watching the same debate?
MCCAIN HAS HORRIBLE BODY LANGUAGE...HE CAN'T LOOK OBAMA IN THE EYE....THAT'S THE SIGN OF A SOMEONE WHO HAVE SOMETHING TO HIDE...I DON'T TRUST HIM AT ALL
Obama looks so confident and presidential, Mccain looks scared and nervous. OBAMA is talking to us as people,Mccain is stuck in his old ways. Hey you cant show and old dog new tricks
schneider????? huh???? What are you talking about???
Bill get real. A surge should not have been because the war in Irag should have not been.
What I don't understand is why McCain doesn't call Obama on the fact that when the war was voted on Obama was not in the senate and was not in public office and had nothing to loose... Obama was writing his autobiography or memories or whatever they are called and McCain was already serving in the Senate. Obama risked nothing when and if he spoke out against the war had he been in the Senate things might have been different just look at Obama's record.
Ben
What debate are you watching. slight edge to McSame on foreign affairs. Obama destroyed him on the economy
He doesnt want to cut taxes on the oil companies because his pockets are getting fat.
can mcshame admit that there should not have been a war in Iraq
I am so proud of Obama sticking to the points and standing his ground respectfully.
Far too much time is being spent on the subject of Iran and Iraq. All of that will end soon enough due to money. How about what they will do for the American people. Change the subject al right al ready. I want to know about Health Care, the economey, education, gas crisis.
And one more point if anyone if condesending it is Obama!!! He can't even call McCain by his name....not once, not twice, but several times let's not play that game...
OBAMA DOES NOT WANT WAR....WHAT HE IS SAYING IS THAT WE NEED TO FOCUS ON AFGHANISTAN....I LOVE THE COMMENT HE JUST MADE...OBAMA SAYS THAT HE WILL MEET WITH THOSE IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES WHEN HE CHOOSES, NOT JUST BECAUSE MCCAIN THINKS THAT HE SHOULD......SMART
E Ray – US needed to focus in Afgnaistan – please don't fool yourself there has been no terrorist attacks in Afganistan or Al Qaida since we kicked them out since 9-11. America security is centered around the Middle East! Know your Middle East history before you post a comment!
Overall, the debate is poorly moderated allowing both to speak as if they are giving speeches rather than follow the debate rules. But, Bill's silver hair has some reason to support John than anything else.
Ok if McCain thinks we have "won" because of his surge in Iraq then why have we not brought the troops home or diverted them to Afghanistan, which actually did bomb us in our own country?
Obama is more schooled on foreign policy with out using platitudes. His plan makes sense in light of the events that have unfolded since 9-11.
I don't see him scoring too many points on this issue and from the sounds of things on this board a large number of people agree with me on this.
OBAMA IS AWSOME!!!! HE IS RIGHT ON POINT
Obama's comment that McCain acts as if the war in Iraq started when the surge began was one of the best.
Schneider, are you watching the same debate? Please pay attention. Barack is crushing McCain. This is supposed to be McCain's strength? WOW?
I think McCain is prejudice, not once has he looked at Obama nor did he want to shake his hand when they first came out. Obama has been talking and looking at McCain from the beginning and McCain hasn'y looked that way yet.
I use to be an Obama supporter and I'm gay and liberal but I have to say that I feel much comfortable with John McCain now noticing how experienced and knowledgeable he is. I think I'm switching.
