Schneider: Obama's task is to convince voters he's a safe pick

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/09/26/art.obama.smile.ap.jpg caption=]
OXFORD, Mississippi (CNN) - On foreign affairs and national security, all Barack Obama has to do is convince people he's a safe alternative to John McCain. There are still a lot of doubts about his abilities to be commander-in-chief. McCain has to intensity those doubts concerning Obama. On the economy, Obama's remarks will sound like the following "Bush, Bush, Bush, Bush" McCain won't mention President Bush tonight. McCain's line on the economy will be "tax, tax, tax, tax."

All that John McCain knows is the military. He has been in the military since he was a teenager. He sees the world through a military lens. He cannot open his mind to a new global way of thinking. I am sorry America, the priveleged White method of governance no longer works in the world. People aren't afraid of us anymore. We need to RESPECT other countries especially when they hold our financial future in their hands.

At the end of the day Obama needs to show his true intentions and tell us the truth..........how come he could not say what he was going to cut?????? It is because he knows with this financial crisis a lot of his plans are out of the window but he doesn't want to lose votes because of it...........

    Be honest Obama !!!!

I have never heard so much fluff in my life! In a time when we need decisiveness, we are getting BS. The candidates need to stop dancing around issues and politicking. I am worried about the direction in which our country is heading.

Calling the president by name rather than as President Bush just shows a lack of respect for the office – no matter what you may feel about him & SEN. Obama is faltering and losing his thoughts!

  11. Why do you never post my comments?

I truly hate both these men. This is what I have to choose from in November. God help us.

Me, Me, Me I am sorry Mr.Mcain but you do not get the picture even after all the time you have spent in washington, You see all the talking and bull you are pushing, what about we the people, You as President representing me, I think not, Do you realize everyday worries of we the people, no you do not, move on into one of the many houses that you do not know have. Are you worried about paying more than your share of taxes, you need to answer, straight forward

McCain suggests soldiers and telling him "give us the chance to win...we don't want to send our children...give us the chance to win"

Sadly, Mr. McCain needs to admit that US citizens are now sending their children. Case in point, Palin's son, who was in his mid teens when the war began; a boy. Is now on his way to fight the war.

Give us the chance to win Mr. McCain? Too late!!!

I am neither Democrat or Republican but I do believe that Obama is doing a better job. McCain may have military experience it was best he stayed there and helped the country that way. Both he and George Bush.

  18. Some honor

Obama is getting stronger in this debate as it goes along. McCain won't even face McCain. Obama has repeatedly questioned him and called him out on comments he has said as being untrue, as well as has repeatedly given actual numbers and strategies. All McCain keeps saying is "I know how to do this. I know how to do this."

McCain has given no respect to Obama either. Obama has made comments when McCain gave a valid statement, as well as question him on false statements, but McCain has just been disgustingly disrespectful. How does his attitude and acting that way indicate in any way that he can bring the current bipartisan government together?

It appears that Senator McCain is searching for answers or resting his eyes. He is tired.
