ST. LOUIS, Missouri (CNN) - Sen. Joe Biden said the economic bailout bill is evidence that the U.S. has had the "worst economic policy we ever had."

Biden made that statement in response to the first question of the vice presidential debate.

Watch: Biden talks economy

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said a barometer for how Americans are feeling about the economy can be felt at kids' soccer games.

Palin said Americans are "scared."

She praised Sen. John McCain's efforts to help get to an economic bailout bill passed.

Biden said Barack Obama warned of the subprime mortgage crisis two years ago while McCain recently said he was surprised about it.

I like Palin–she speaks like a Canadian rather than American. But she needs to stop being so nasally.

Biden knows his economics just as well as he know foreign policy. His words flow like he knows from experience not from cramming for an exam like Palins sister told glamour magazine. Palin is beating a dead horse she sucks.

When it a known lie and you repeat it on a National VP debate it is still a lie. Saying it over and over again doesn't make it true.

I am unimpressed so far – she has a bit of a "tone" when addressing Senator Biden, but she does seem to be better informed than during either the Gibson or Couric interview

Palin's trademark answer to things she doesn't know is to break into Republican philosophy that is like shotgun approach hoping one of her talking points will answer the question. A pretty bad job of acting but she seems likeable.

I dont understand why Gov. Palin is not responding to the question directly. I think this is the end of Mccain's campaign. Better of two evils. Vote for Obama!!

Palin's answer's are very childlike! However; she does have more depth then she has demonstrated in recent interviews but she still sits lower then what American's should expect from a V.P.

Palin is doing ok, but her facts are not accurate. She does not get that her party is the one that caused all this mess.

Increase taxes on people who can afford it. What part of if you make under $250,000.

So far, I have heard no candidate speak to a real reinvestment in America by our government, our businesses, and our population. We need an inward focus to strengthen our work force. As in give our workforce the tools and skills to keep their local economies strong. Strong local economies make a strong national economy.

She is not answering any of the questions primarily because she's completely scripted.
