ST. LOUIS, Missouri (CNN) - Sen. Joe Biden said the economic bailout bill is evidence that the U.S. has had the "worst economic policy we ever had."

Biden made that statement in response to the first question of the vice presidential debate.

Watch: Biden talks economy

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said a barometer for how Americans are feeling about the economy can be felt at kids' soccer games.

Palin said Americans are "scared."

She praised Sen. John McCain's efforts to help get to an economic bailout bill passed.

Biden said Barack Obama warned of the subprime mortgage crisis two years ago while McCain recently said he was surprised about it.

Biden just nailed her on the tax plan and health care–awesome! Biden is smart! He even drew laughter from the crowd on his joke of bridge to nowhere.

Has Gov. Palin been reading from a teleprompt during this debate? She kept writing and looking ahead of her while Biden was talking. I've never seen her answer any question without some type of help. Is it true that neither candidate knew what the questions were?

    Thank you,

Biden seems to be straight-talking about what the campaign can't do. I appreciate that.

Mack, Biden does not look angry. He is simply appalled that she doesn't answer the questions asked but goes to the topics she's had shoved down her throat over the last few days. As usual, she's tanking...

In the worst economic crisis since the Great Depression why is it that the wealthy seem to be the best buffered from it? I'm covering high end real estate for news and have been surprised to hear that regarding high end real estate the market has remained strong throughout this economic downturn. Doesn't seem like the money is trickling down...:)

Palin is almost robotic in her responses, mixed loosely with the down-home BS her handlers are telling her the American people want to hear. She hasn't given a direct answer to any question she's been called on to respond to. She's obviously been well-coached by said handlers. Has anyone noticed that she only looks directly into the camera when she's feeding the people what the Republican Party thinks Joe s
    Sixpack wants to hear?

Palin is a strong woman... no question about it. So are the vast majority of American women.

Americans aren't the only one's who are scared. Here in Canada, our markets are taking a tougher hit and bigger losses than the Wall Street indices.... and we weren't the problem!

The answers to America's problems are not going to be found in Republican vs Democrat... they are steeped in the health of the entire world... and the moral and ethical responsibility for the number one nation in the world to do the right thing... not the greedy of partisan thing...

    Hello All:

I really do not understand how this woman can continue to praise herself and not properly answer the questions presented. Also, whats up with the notes she continues reading from?

    Thanks,
