ST. LOUIS, Missouri (CNN) - Sen. Joe Biden said the economic bailout bill is evidence that the U.S. has had the "worst economic policy we ever had."

Biden made that statement in response to the first question of the vice presidential debate.

Watch: Biden talks economy

Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said a barometer for how Americans are feeling about the economy can be felt at kids' soccer games.

Palin said Americans are "scared."

She praised Sen. John McCain's efforts to help get to an economic bailout bill passed.

Biden said Barack Obama warned of the subprime mortgage crisis two years ago while McCain recently said he was surprised about it.

She is not answering the questions....she reminds me of a teacher or the principal....when I was in school all children listened to me. "Do you know what I did when I was in Alaska" Palin–noone cares about what happens in Alaska as long as "ya'll" don't have anymore oil spills.

Go BIDEN!!!!!!!!!!!! He's doing good and holding his ground. Sarah isn't too bad, but she needs to get her facts together, and loosen up.

It is unthinkable that Sara Palin could perform the duties of a real VP and even more horrifying to think about the possibility of her becoming President. I'm female, but she needs to go back to Alaska and coach the soccer teams!

Interesting that a member of the party that created the Iraq War and ignored all other things in the global community during the last 8 years is using the phrase "Never Again" so much. Maybe the McCain speech writers should explain to her the situation in Darfur before they recommend her using that one again...

I can't believe I am hearing this nonsense from this woman. She is a no answer – just playing on the emotions of the hockey moms. How can McCain not care enough about his country first to nominate this character!

Please change the ticker back to Democrat, Republican and Independent. Men vs Women tells me little of value. What I want to know (and what may predict the election) is: how are Independents reacting?

    Hello All:

It is obvious that Joe B. is the stronger of the two and as far as I am concerned, Obama will be the victor at the end of this election. Sarah P. talks in circles and beats around the bush-never actually answering the questions, and honestly comes across as a "Story teller".

    Thanks.

Get into the meat of a subject and she won't be able to keep up. I still haven't heard a plan. I don't want to know about a small state governor and a smaller city mayor.
