McCain: Palin will do 'fine' tonight

CNN

Watch: Sen. John McCain on his campaign suspension, his running mate and the VP debate..

(CNN) - John McCain told CNN Thursday his running mate Sarah Palin will perform well at tonight's vice presidential debate.

"The fact is she'll do fine tonight. She has experience, talent, leadership. She has great inner strength. She has - an ability to lead that's been proven, taken on her own party," he said. "Joe Biden and Barack Obama have never taken on the leaders of their party on any issue. She's stood up for what's right for the people of Alaska. And she will stand up for what's right for America."

The comments come after Palin has faced criticism for her performance during recent interviews with Katie Couric. In the two separate interviews, Palin had trouble defending McCain's record on regulation issues, discussing the economic bailout, defining her foreign policy credentials, naming her preferred sources of news, and naming a Supreme Court case she disagrees with.

Asked if Couric's questions were fair, McCain said he would let the American people decide.

"I know that there have been attacks on Sarah Palin that have been remarkable to me in many ways, but I have total confidence in her. She's very comfortable in her own skin," he said.

McCain says Palin has the experience, talent, leadership . . .

Palin may have experience, but in what? Palin doesn't show or even have the basic common knowledge of what a VP should know – memorizing stuff just isn't going to cut-it.

Talent, yeah, playing the flute I believe it was.

Leadership – a PTA mom, is this what McCain is referring to. Because she abused her power of leadership as governor, which really doesn't make Palin a person who has shown to have good or positive leadership.

    uhhh...ok McCain whatever.

I'm sorry to come right back... but I just watched the video of McLiar... Is he in the tank for Obama? I ask because the lies he tells are so far fetched that NO ONE will believe any of that crap! These lies will only drive people to Obama (which is fine with me).

I though you always down play your candidate's strengths before a debate, not build them up! Won't this raise our expectations?

From what i have read, she may pull the card of looking at the camera, smiling and saying: "it hurts me too."

I want to hear specifics. I want to hear what she has to say about McCain, Republicans, and her thoughts on The Supreme Court, the Economy, Iran, Iraq, cirriculum in our nation's schools....HER THOUGHTS! i want to hear from HER!

Can we please hear from her? Put her on "Meet the Press." I want to see her on "Meet the Press." After that, we can decide. Or, tonight we may be bale to.

I want to hear FROM HER. Can we please?

Mr McCain, I here you are quite the gambler. Are you willing to wager $10,000 on whether she does fine or not tonight?

Katie’s questions were more than fair. Katie was gentle and asked questions that anyone who has some common sense should be able to answer.

"" In the two separate interviews, Palin had trouble defending McCain's record on regulation issues, discussing the economic bailout, defining her foreign policy credentials, naming her preferred sources of news, and naming a Supreme Court case she disagrees with."""

McCaligula, you must have a different definition of "fine" than the rest of us. Of course, with all your inverse-double-speak, it's obvious you've been in the Bizarro world for some time.

I'd say we should just believe the opposite of whatever you happen to say but I'm afraid you're not even coherent enough to really have a method to your madness.

......But the o' man will never let her be in her own skin. or would he?

If Palin is "comfortable in her own skin" why all the protection?

This lady is way over her head in this VP issue and McCain's jugement is out of wack as are all of his other utterances and actions .

McCain just doesn't get it. Period!!!

I hope she provides as much entertainment during the debates as she had during the interviews. Too bad the debates are neutered down so we don't break this fragile thing. Equal rights right?

    1) Why does MccCain insist that you can only be a leader if you take on your own party? If your party happens to be right on an issue, why would you go against it? And considering that Palin went against Republicans in Alaska wo were corrupt, I don't find it such an extraordinary sign if she went against them.
    2) It's not true that Obama and Biden never went against their own party. For example the ethics and transparency reforms Obama pushed through.

    WHERE ARE THEY NOW?

FRANKLIN RAINES? Raines works for the Obama Campaign as Chief Economic Advisor

TIM HOWARD? Howard is also a Chief Economic Advisor to Obama

JIM JOHNSON? Johnson hired as a Senior Obama Finance Advisor and was selected to run Obama's Vice Presidential Search Committee

IF OBAMA PLANS ON CLEANING UP THE MESS – HIS ADVISORS HAVE THE EXPERTISE – THEY MADE THE MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Would you trust the men who tore Wall Street down to build the New

    Haha.

    HAHAHAHAHA!

Were Couric's question's fair? He's gonna let the American people decide that? As if this is an actual point of contention?

"Do you know anything at all that might qualify you for this job?"
"Uh, no. But I love America!"

...and then we have the proud Palin defender's who are so sure that she's just trying to avoid giving the Democrats more chances to tear into her. Weren't we were proud of our ignorant hockey mom who doesn't know anything but sticks to her belief's anyway? Anyway, she's gonna have to say SOMETHING tonight, and she's gonna have to offer more than some nasty personal attacks against Obama.
