Martin: Raise the bar for Palin and Biden

(CNN)–Expectations are high for Palin AND Biden. Many of you read my commentary this week on CNN.com and I haven’t changed my opinion.
I’m tired of Washington journalists continuing to say that the expectations are low, and the bar even lower, for Gov. Sarah Palin.
And the same goes for Sen. Joe Biden.
One of these two will be Vice President of the United States. How in the world do we tell our children every day to have high expectations in the classroom, but we should expect the vice president candidates to not raise their game? Nonsense.
It’s time for Biden and Palin to show America what they are really made of.
Bring it on!

She can't give the right answers to the questions. Darn those cue cards!
She is totally reciting from memory. All that winking and grinning makes her look like a pole dancer.
I also would like to have energy independence. But, I am very against to drill, drill, drill everywhere.
Palin is losing it.
The question is on the bankruptcy bill, and she tries to switch the issue to energy.
She's desperate, and knows that Biden is scoring some major points by questioning McCain – with his own words.
She is working hard to get the debate on her terms, but answering the questions asked is kind of important.
Sara has come out strong.. This is a marathon and not a race. And she is only moving back and not moving forward with the questions.

This should be her best points, but if Biden does not ask her about climate change and what is the cause he missed a major point.
How can she say that? We ARE very much at fault for the climate change.

Did you guys hear that? Biden called her Sarah Palin and quickly said, "Gov. Palin."
It's his strategy to not refer to her gender and keep it on her name.
And Erica, I'm giving you the strategy, not my opinion. That's why she is using first names. It's far more comfortable and easygoing, rather than being formal.
He has a strategy. So does she.
Why are men responding so in favor of her? Looks maybe
energy is her forte' – we can concede to that – what else does she know?

Here's another clear difference between the two camps: Obama and Biden want to broaden our energy portfolio while McCain and Palin support a "fossil fuels forever" energy policy. McCain has voted against every renewable and alternative energy plan that has ever come up in the Senate. Obama/Biden '08
She's got to get to out of Alaska more. She is going to loose bad if she continues to only talk about Alaska. If all of the answers were there then we would have been looking to them to lead us on Energy Independence a long time ago.
How does this strategy help her position?

Roland, why is she not answering the questions at hand?. She appears to be cramming everything into the debate that she learned!!
It is clear to see that Palin's expertise is "Energy". Why doesn't she step outside of her comfort zone and attack the economy. That is how I judge a true leader. Also if you don't fix the economy then we definitly won't be spending any money on energy. What will she do with her expertise then?

I am so ashamed that Sarah Palin is supposed to represent the women of the United States. How can I have complete confidence in her being my Vice President. I am sick of people saying that all women are supporting Palin, because she is a woman. Does McCain think that women are stupid. We are not, we are very smart and next time any politician decides to pick a woman just to get women vote. Please do Not do it. Please make sure she is smart and ablt to defend what she believes in without seeming so rehearsed. Give us the facts and stop talking in circles. I do not want to hear about being a soccermom, or a hockey mom. Sarah you are talking to the American People not little people that do not know the important issues that are affecting America.
