Palin hits Obama for 'terrorist' connection

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/04/art.bopt1004.gi.jpg caption="In remarks Saturday, Gov. Palin sought to link Sen. Obama with 1970's radical William Ayers, according to a statement released by the McCain-Palin campaign."]

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama's political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating "with terrorists who targeted their own country."

Palin's attack delivered on the McCain campaign's announcement that it would step up attacks on the Democratic presidential candidate with just a month left before the November general election.

"We see America as the greatest force for good in this world," Palin said at a fund-raising event in Colorado, adding, "Our opponent though, is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

Palin made similar comments later at a rally in Carson, California.

Obama's Chicago home is in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground that was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including the Pentagon and the Capitol, and the two have met several times since Obama's 1995 campaign for an Illinois state senate seat.

It's Obama that gives us hope that American can be all that she promises to be. McCain and Palin will give us more of the same where we are hated and distrusted around the world.

Here we go!!! As sad as it is, you all knew this was coming. The Obama campaign knew it too.

Unfortunately, McShame campaign has finally come to the realization that their policy is fundamentally flawed, and the only way they see out of it is to lie, baby lie. Divide, baby, divide.

Hopefully, those 527s step it up now. I'm sending everything I can to MoveOn.org immediately. McShame goes Ayers? MoveOn needs to go Keating 5 and Troopergate. They go Wright? MoveOn should go Hagee and the Witch Doctor and all that other mess Palin had going on up in the tundra.

Unfortunately, there is no such thing as "honor" with John McCain. After this last 31 days, he will fade off into oblivion and THIS will be his legacy.

Wow, talk about bringing back the Swiftboat style attacks of 2004. It would be truly sad if we are denied a great president because people fell for these scare tactics once again.

Like Palin is the one to condemn anyone....This attack only shows how running scared the McBush/Lipstick ticket is...why aren't they talking about what they plan to do if (god forbid) they were elected. This only solidifies my vote for Obama....

hahaha lol Todd Palin belongs to a secession party the Alaskan Independent Party who wants to break away from the union, and Sarah Palin belong to that same party 2 years ago, and in the debate with Biden she is asking or advocating for more power to the VP, that is more scary than a terrorist who did something when Obamawas * years old

In fact, a republican religious neo-con was whipped into such a frenzy over Sarah, he wrote about his reaction in his column.

The printed response involved the words “sit”, “couch”, “straight up”, and “burst” all in one sentence…

Wonder if he was eating buttered popcorn at the time…

Dawgon’ it dude, don’t cha’ know, God was a watchin’ ya!

Of course, He may have been too busy monitoring Sarah’s sanctioned religious crusade in Iraq, to have noticed.

Surely Obama is innocent of the friendship with Ayers. Why? He was in a church that preached hatred...Wright..............for 20 years,,,,but said he never heard any such words from Wright............................if you believe that.you will vote for the man who is the most "liberal" abortionist in US history.OBAMA!....................McCain supports the protection of the unborn child from the scapel! Do you have a heart, or are you yellow to the bone? Do you have the courage to do the right thing no matter what the lefist say! Don't believe the wolves in sheeps clothing! They are abortionist and progressive socailist! VOte for McCain,a man of honor and integritry who has the experience and fortitude to deal with terror in the womb and in this world!

This is a cheap shot! Why can't the Republicans act with dignity. Obama doesn't attack them with lies. I find it sickening to hear such false accusations against a man with integrity. Sarah Palin is a sorry example for our children and grandchildren... I wish she would go back to Alaska to her family and get out of politics. She's not fit to be VP or President of anything!

So much for idea's. Anytime a salesperson starts to tell me how bad, evil or pathetic their competition is, I stop listening.

If McCain/Palin have to tear down their competition to make themselves look better, perhaps they really have nothing to offer.

I guess we will be seeing a lot of this for the next few weeks. Sure would be a terrible way to win an election.

I m not surprised, as McCain has nothing to run on except smears and innuendos. If he wants to play swift-boat politics, then everything should be up for grabs --Can anyone say Keating 5????

This is desperation time! Palin and Mcsame are willing to do anything to turn the tide. Nevertheless, it will not work this time because this tactic will not provide job nor restore the pride lost by America.

This from a woman whose husband wants Alaska to secede from the US. Once again, simple Sarah doesn't have the facts and mouths off about things she hasn't a clue about.

Sadly, this is what politics boils down to. If you can't address the issues, attack the character. Hopefully people will vote the issues this time and not elect two bumbling fools to the White House again. Once is a mistake, twice is stupidity, three times...

No surprises here. Sarah Palin and John McCain, instead of providing clear, rational discourse on how their Administration would improve the nation's standing in the world, relieve the financial disaster perpetrated upon us by Washington and Wall Street, relieve the environmental/energy crises, and improve the overall well being of our nation choose to obfuscate the issues with ridiculous attacks.
The good 'ol boy network is strong with the Republican ticket. Most frightening is that Governor Palin's "down home" style demonstrated in the debate with Senator Biden was orchestrated to appeal to the beer swillin', NASCAR lovin' crowd who would rather get their information from the sound bytes provided instead of actually reading factual information and studying the issues and the candidate's positions on them. We are heading for deep trouble if that level of mediocrity is where the bar is set.

  21. Disgusted By McCain and Palin

Let's forget talking about the economy, unemployment, health care, the war in Iraq, job creation, the environment, or any other issue that actually affects the lives of real Americans. Instead, let's try to distract voters by cynically hyping up discredited connections between Mr. Obama and others that have absolutely nothing to do with what Americans actually care about. When you don't have a record to run on, you have no new ideas, and you're promising that the next 4 years are going to look a lot like the last 8, than you forget issues and focus on slander and lies.

The McCain and Palin team disgusts me.

It's time for real change in America!

Palin is pathetic and her comments are unforgiveable. McCain and his campaign are fools if they think at time when most Americans don't know if their jobs are secure, they are going to lose their homes, and if they will have enough money left at the end of the month to feed thier families that acting like a bully on the playground, hurling nasty insults, and outrageous attacks that try to divert our attention so we can see how awful their grasps on the facts and reality are will be enough to get votes. I am SICK, really SICK of these tired politics that are shameful, dishonest, and lack dignity. I want answers, real answers. I don't want to hear another smear or another mention of the word maverick. I want to know how they are going to help me, right now and in the future. I am tired of sleepless nights filled with fear and trepidation of the future. Hear immature comments do nothing more then convince me with every breath I take and every fiber of my being I wil make sure we elect Barack Obama and Senator Biden. Same on you John McCain and Sarah Palin for losing site of country first and straight talk and for turning into the very machine that so dishonerably has taking over the Republican Party!!!! Americans everywhere deserve better from you.

When you're losing, smear, smear, smear. So much for Cindy's statement that "you won't see those negative attacks coming from our camp." I've lost all respect for you, John McCain. It makes me sad, but it's a product of your actions.

Governor Palin has no interest in history. She repeatedly accused Obama/Biden of being backward looking in the debate for paying attention to the past eight years. Now she wants us to look at what Mr. Ayers did in the 60's. The view of "America right or wrong" can only be held by the willfully ignorant. This describes Palin to a T.
