Palin hits Obama for 'terrorist' connection

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/04/art.bopt1004.gi.jpg caption="In remarks Saturday, Gov. Palin sought to link Sen. Obama with 1970's radical William Ayers, according to a statement released by the McCain-Palin campaign."]

ENGLEWOOD, Colorado (CNN) - Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin on Saturday slammed Sen. Barack Obama's political relationship with a former anti-war radical, accusing him of associating "with terrorists who targeted their own country."

Palin's attack delivered on the McCain campaign's announcement that it would step up attacks on the Democratic presidential candidate with just a month left before the November general election.

"We see America as the greatest force for good in this world," Palin said at a fund-raising event in Colorado, adding, "Our opponent though, is someone who sees America it seems as being so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country."

Palin made similar comments later at a rally in Carson, California.

Obama's Chicago home is in the same neighborhood as Bill Ayers, a founder of the radical Weather Underground that was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including the Pentagon and the Capitol, and the two have met several times since Obama's 1995 campaign for an Illinois state senate seat.

Anyone who has been reading plitical news on line is well aware of this false accusation in the way that the McCain camp is implying.

First off, William Ayers was never convicted of any of the things Palin cited.

Secondly he is currently a professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago with two master degrees in early education and one doctorate degree in education.

How is Obama connected to something that occured when he was six years old and living in Hawaii. The guy held one fund raiser, I could see if Ayers was on Obama's campaign, you know like McCain having all those lobbyists on his.

This has been hashed and rehashed. It is a non-issue, but the Republicans know that fear works. Fear distracts.

But, please Mrs. Palin, please tell us about your ideas of moving forward.

So Sarah is a pit bull with lipstick, on the attack. Then she probably doesn't mind if those attacked fight back. If Obama really did cavort with radicals, can we say that Palin is cavorting with idiots? Can she argue that simply knowing someone is the same as adopting their ideas? If so, she is forever aligned with the radical right - regardless of her own thoughts and actions. Perhaps this is "palienation" - the separation of Palin and her supporters from reality.

Let's see, Sarah Palin's HUSBAND belongs to a secessionist political party, but somehow Obama being an ACQUAINTANCE of Ayers is worse?

Nice try. Not a credible threat.

Todd Palin is a terrorist! (see how it sounds?)

Blow that Swift Boat up before it reaches you Obama, and then McCain's chances of getting into the White House will go down with it!

What a pity! what a disgrace! McCain/Palin are falling back in the state polls. They are resulting now to desperate smear attacks to win. The american people deserve to hear about the solutions to fix the U.S. economy. Look who is talking? Sarah Palin is under ethical investigation in Alaska. If she has nothing to hide, she should think about anwering questions in the troopergate investigation in Alaska; not cite executive priviledges.

This is what we call a desperate statement. An unqualified woman to be president of this country is accusing Obama of terrorism. Shame on McCain!!!

OK. Palin we don't care about these issues. We care about health care and jobs. McCain doesn't have any plans for the economy and his health care plans is outrageous. McCain wants to give tax break to Oprah and company who don't need it. Sarah Palin you are likable but slightly annoying. You are pushing your luck. The last time Americans voted on likability they ended up with George Bush. We don't care about slander. We are afraid of more of the same.
Why don't you suggest that McCain put his houses and cars on EBAY? That will be a sign of change.

You know, interesting that Palin would say this, considering the fact that her husband belonged to a group that advocated the succession of Alaska from the United States–(treason?). I suppose if we go through everyone's friendships we will find people that society would not find appropriate. How is that in anyway indicative of the issues to become President. I have noticed that Gov. Palin likes to give jabs, like where she criticized Couric. I think most people who have watched that interview (Republican and Democrats alike) understand that it wasn't Couric that was reckless or unprofessional. I suppose one of the best ways to deflect attention is to try to direct it to others.....

Palin needs to remove the word Christian from anything to do with her. Being Christian has to do with telling the truth and being kind, good, etc. I noticed the Bible wasn't something she could list as something she reads.

Stop hiding behind a label that doesn't fit you Sarah. You are a total mean spirited phony woman.

What a stupid, idiotic thing to say!! Could she possibly think that anyone will believe her B.S.?? Keep it up Sarah and we'll be glad to send you back to the moose of Alaska. YOU ARE A JOKE! DON'T TRY TO LOOK LIKE SOMETHING YOU ARE NOT...INTELLIGENT!!!!

Well here we go again, more of the same Republican tactics, focus on personal attacks and negative ads instead of what they are going to do for the country. Why can the Republicans not focus on the real issues that affect real people? Because they dont have answers, they just have fear of losing the white house, and they will resort to whatever tactics they have to, even Karl Roves swift boat tactics. I hope this backfires on McSame. I'm so tired of this divisivness, the so called "your either with us or against us" mentality. Its becoming more and more obvious that Obama/Biden is the ticket for change, and McCain/Palin is just more of the same.

Let's see, McCain has no plan for the economy, no plan to get out of spending billions in Iraq, he'll deregulate healthcare as he did the banking system, and picked a Tina Fey look alike as his running mate, ok, I get it, time to Switft-boat.

Continue with you negative comments Palin you will not be the next VP or president or I will move to Rome!!! Our country deserves more than an average Joe or a Hockey Mom!!! So go govern Alaska for you have nothing in common with me or the views of real Americans. Drop Out Go Home So McCain can choose a real VP pick. You have Blown his chances for becoming the next President and he has you to Thank. Maybe he should've chose Lady De Rothschild or Campbell Brown. Anyone that has a common sense and deals with Real Issues.

You know your campaign is over if you have to resolve to kitchen sink tactics like Clinton did against Obama. Obama had to endure vile attacks throughout spring so he will have no problem holding his ground for a month.

McCain and Palin are hearing the fat lady in the background getting louder.

The fact that Palin's version of Christianity apparently doesn't want people to work in charitable organizations, if one of the members did something despicable 4 decades ago should speak for itself. Shut up Sarah.

Isnt it just like Obama after the fact that he isnt friends with him..Just like quitting the church after 20 years of being a member. Like a little kid catch throwing a snowball...."I only threw one!" hahaha

Not surprising at all. This election is not close and McCain knows it. These types of attacks are desperate attempts from a desperate campain. What Mccain needs to do is begin protecting his legacy. He is a great American and I'm sure he does not want to be remembered as a low down dirty politician. His campain is moving in that direction. Sad, so sad.......

Senator McCain, you are the father of the Republican Party with a great personality. Please, Sen. McCain, do not involve in a dirty politic like that. It is not good for the country right now. This country needs good examples and strong leadership not dirty craps.
Mr.McCain, let me give you an advice" Napoleon Bonaparte remains One of the greatest military leaders in France history even if he was defeated by a small Haitians military army in 1803. Heroes stay Heroes even if they lost a war."
