Obama accuses McCain of looking for distractions

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/POLITICS/10/05/campaign.wrap/art.obama.gi.jpg caption="Sen. Obama slammed Sen. McCain's health care plan at a campaign event in North Carolina Sunday."]
(CNN) - Sen. Barack Obama on Sunday charged that Sen. John McCain's campaign is launching "Swift boat-style attacks" on him instead of addressing the country's problems.

Watch: Obama fights back

"Sen. McCain and his operatives are gambling that they can distract you with smears rather than talk to you about substance. They'd rather try to tear our campaign down than lift this country up," Obama said at an event in Asheville, North Carolina.

"That's what you do when you're out of touch, out of ideas, and running out of time," he said.

The comments come a day after Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, McCain's running mate, claimed that Obama associated "with terrorists who targeted our own country."

The McCain campaign shot back on Sunday, saying its accusations are "true facts," and not "smears."

"The last four weeks of this election will be about whether the American people are willing to turn our economy and national security over to Barack Obama, a man with little record, questionable judgment, and ties to radical figures like unrepentant domestic terrorist William Ayers," McCain spokesman Tucker Bounds said in a statement.

When a campaign is losing like McCain's, anything will get said to divert attention. That's all it is.
Thanks CNN for your Truth Squad. Palin's comments are baseless. Now the RNC wants to investigate contributions. Same thing. A diversion and a stab in the dark. Go ahead. Investigate. All that time the GOP spends investigationg is more time spent not addressing about the REAL ussues in this country.

NY Times already said that there is no close relationship, they just happened to have been in teh same place at the same time.

Also, if Ayers is STILL a terrorist, you think he would be out of jail? Think he would be teaching and keeping a public life?

Wanna know who real terrorists are, look at Timothy McVeigh, the KKK, the bigots in Alabama who think lynching is fun. Guess who those terrorists support? I'll give you a hint, it ain't Obama.

Trying to smear Obama because he served on some board with Ayers is equivalent to smearing McCain because he served in the same organization with Larry Craig, Ted Stevens, Tom Delay and Mark Foley. The main difference, however, is that Ayers realized the error of his ways and became a respectable citizen 25 years ago. The same thing can't be said for McCain's cohorts in the US Senate and House.

What really upsets me is that Macane and his cronies does not respect the intelligence of the american people. To think that we can,t see through his line of carnival politics is ludicrous

The lie about Ayers is no match for Sara Palin's pastor's sermon about
Alaska being a refuge in the last days, Her husband wanting to suceed from America and witch hunting. This woman is far more scarier than Ayers. And besides, when I go to fill my
gas tank up at $4.00 a gallon, Ayers is not standing at the pump,
but the Republican ghost is. They are the one's we should fear.
Palin is anti-woman, bans books, no foreign policy credentials, and
a threat to our national security. Sara "Harry Potter" Palin's ignorance is what can REALLY hurt Americans and for this we should be fearful.
I will not dare vote for this woman.

Watchout parents, your 8 years old may be tie to torrorist. Mccain want to tie or link kids to torrorist even though the kids are in school miles away from where crime was commited or don't know what is torrorist.

That is true by John Mccain standard. pitty that Mccain is very patiotic, by smearing his fello american.

Yeah to be patriotic by Mccain standard u have to smear your own country man or kill their soul. None sense Mccain u are dumb and doom.
Mccain does not get it. When people have no hope u don't kill their hope by smearing other , u have to reason with them and find solution.

I can't wait for the extreme liberal left to attack McCain for preparing for his debate with the inferior opponent. Obviously they are worshiping Obama. Instead of talking about Bidens 14 serious mistakes in his debate, they want to talk about Palen's 2 minor mistakes (mispronounced a name!). Instead of saying "Palen won the debate because she sounded better" just they do with Obama, they say "Biden had the edge because he has experience" yet the hypocrites don't apply that to McCain.

I really cannot wait until Nov. 2 when McCain wins the election. There needs to be a shake up in the extreme liberal news media to prevent so much bias towards Obama. 2008 – THE YEAR UNBIASED JOURNALISM DIED.

This is regarding the RNC looking for illegal contributions to the Obama campaign. Let's also check all of the contributions to the McCain campaign. And while your at it, let's have an investigation into what actually influenced the conflict between Georgia and Russia.

It seemed to help the candidacy of John McCain during that time.

    Probe on......

Obama and Ayers are cut from the same cloth; both are using America and Americans to reach their own selfish, megolomaniac goals and they don't care who gets hurt as long as their socialist agendas triumph. .

Ayers is old news and the truth came out a long time ago.

McCain has been looking for distractions from the real issues since Obama won his primary. The big whopper distraction started with his choice of the winking beauty queen who he barely knew. There are many smart, qualified Republican women he could have called upon. Instead, he goes to a sexist, tired tactic-sex sells. He's been spiraling down since.

Now, thanks to "Sarah Six Pack" , who thinks it's cute to talk in an unintelligible manner, the door to personal attacks has been opened. Could she and McCain explain how a man who cheated on his injured first wife with a young heiress be a man of character? Could she truthfully explain the term Keating 5? Is it true that she is married to a man who wants Alaska to secede from the U.S.? Perhaps or perhaps not, her former brother-in-law was a brute, but does that give her the right to abuse her power to retaliate by firing this man's boss?

I am counting on the MSM to keep digging up the facts on all these candidates. Also, if Sarah Palin keeps hiding from the press, I think like others that her events should not be covered. Why should she be able to launch false attacks but not answer to the American people?

The McInsane campaign is crazy! Why do they always try to scare people into voting for them? We fell for it in 2000/2004. We're tired of the lies. What about the economy? John McOutofTouch just doesn't get it? He has no ideas about the economy so the wants to distract. I also tired of his pitbull with lipstick. She is getting on my nerves. With the number of foreclosures, job losses, stock market crashing, high gas prices, retirement losses, etc. etc. Let's stick to the issues. Remember American John McCain has 7 houses and 13 cars. He doesn't care about the average American family. What about the Keating 5?

    From Summerlover:

"The next time anyone hears that Obama was only 8 years old when Ayers was committing his terrorist acts, please point out that he was 34 years old when he was in Ayers living room!"

And how old was McCain when he knowingly fell in line and became one of the nortorious Keating 5, famous for being a part of the major S&L financial scandal? Wasn't McCain around 50 years old??
