Obama campaign rejects Palin 'terrorist' gibe

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/05/art.boflag1005.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Palin said Saturday that Sen. Obama sees America as 'imperfect.'"]
(CNN) - Barack Obama's campaign has quickly rejected Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's claim that he associated "with terrorists who targeted our own country."

Palin attacked Sen. Obama on Saturday for his brief political relationship with Bill Ayers, a founding member of the radical Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including attacks on the Pentagon and the Capitol. Obama was a child at the time of the bombings.

Obama and Ayers, now a university professor, have met several times since 1995, when both orked with a non-profit group trying to raise funds for a school improvement project and a haritable foundation. CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything nappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved.

A CNN Fact Check found Palin's charge to be false.

McCain/Palin have potty mouths. Somebody needs to flush the toilet and get rid of all their crap. Say it ain't so, Joe. Wink – Wink!

Let's give them a "Big Shout" to just go away! Oh, and please take the "First Dude". Palin will need him to help run Alaska. Good luck to the fine people of Alaska.

It's the ECONOMY stupid. It's about the People, their lives, jobs, health care, and bringing our wonderful military home.

I think Senator Biden needs to come out and mock Palin the way Palin did to him in the debate. Biden should say: "Say it ain't so, Sarah. There you go looking at the past when you should be focusing on what we can do for America's future." Hypocritical, lying airhead... or bimbo, if she prefers.

If we were all made to account somehow for the actions of someone we know now who did things when we were 6 years old, were would we all be?

That from the same person who from the outset announced her intent "not to answer" moderator's questions at a debate. Any surprise?

I figure, sooner or later, Ms. Palin's going to have to go off-script. and like a pitcher who ignores signs from a catcher she's going to get wailed on.

McCain is getting desperate. Doesn't he realize that Americans could care less about William Ayers. The don't even know who he is, nor do they relate to anything about the climate of the 60's or the Weathermen who disbanded in about 1973. McCain is looking very erratic and not very stable.

    Greeting Sarah Palin,

I would like to thank God for you. I would like to declare and decree that you have a charge to keep and a God to glorify. You are out of order and out your place; if you are a child of God that I have seen on the news (raised pentecostal). I declare and decree in the name of Jesus that you give up this mad venture that you have walked into and turn back and do what you have been commissioned to do first. Your place and position at this time is that of a wife to your husband and mother to your children. Your children need you first, your oldest daughter to your youngest son. I declare and decree that you from this day will not be allowed to walk out of the authority of God.

    Grace and peace

Jo, I don't think that Palin can read. She only takes orders and reads little 3 x 5 cards. I doubt if she read The New York Times, either.

Stay on target Obama. Stick to the issues it is clear that McCain doesn't have a plan of any sort about anything. He is going to try very hard to drag you into the mud. Stay above the BS! If you do you will be the next President. Lead us!

  13. McGimmick's gimmick FAILED!

Another failed racist attempt by the McCain Campaign. They plant the seeds, deny any part in the matter then watch the tree grows from those seeds.

I am tired of McCain racist negative attacks. For a person who claims to be so patriotic I now see his erratic and imbalance temperament has now leaked into the campaign trail as he desperately tries to take the focus off of the economy.

I would like to see a group come out with an ad rejecting Palin's lies and bringing up all the questions about what she has done.

Hey "Democrats voting": Do you have any facts or are you just spewing your RNC talking points? As much as I wish this campaign season could be respectful, your ridiculous posts are why I realize there is no way to discuss anything with close-minded nut jobs like you.

  15. Pay in Attention, USA

The McCain camp is TRULY pathetic.

Obama was 8 years old when Ayres was engaging in anti-American acts... AND he has since become a professor and worked in positive, non-violent ways to improve his Chicago community...

Where's the Christian forgiveness? Where's the logic? Oh wait!

As republicans we MUST win at all costs! To hell with the truth, to hell with logic! To hell with our Christian values!!!

  17. Susan

I almost wish the Democratic Party would stoop to the GOP's level and bring up things like, the Keating 5 and Todd Palin's membership in a group wanting to secede from the U.S. and Governor Palin's witch doctor exorcism...

Seriously, this terrorism business is absolute nonsense!

It's not about winning by any means necessary, it's about COUNTRY FIRST, Senator McCain! It's about *weighing* the facts before announcing that you're 'suspending' your campaign and then heading off to Washington to make a mess of things. It's about the ISSUES!

Governor Palin, go read a book...or maybe a newspaper. Maybe that way you could produce an original thought...something perhaps that's based on the truth!

CNN – Will not post my other comment but why do you reference quotes wiyh "terrorist" in reference to Palins smears on 3 articles. This is absurd and insulting.

Gosh darn-it, that would be so awesome, ya know, I mean real mavericks to come to Washington to shake things up and fight against terrorists and pals of terrorists and people who read newspapers . . . so awesome, ya know. I just think Palin would be the awesomemost president ever, ya know.

The fact that they are now running this kind of campaign does not surprise me in the least. As Republicans are becoming more desparate and are lower in the polls, attacks from them increase exponentially.

I used to respect McCain, and felt that either way the country voted I would feel somewhat safe. Now however, I must say, that I have no more respect for McCain, and must simply say that he has gone so deep into the politics that both parties have engaged in for so long, that I have no respect left for him.
Don't even get me started on "Dip, Dive, and Dodge" Palin.

It has become clear what we can expect from the Republicans this election.

  21. sick of lying Palin

Can anyone say: TrooperGate, Keating5, taxpayers paying for her kids airline tickets, questionable IRS deductions, using her power to get a building code variance... She should look in the mirror before casting false stones.... For someone who claims to be "Christian", she is lying and clearly doesn't care. And she doesn't care about the hockey moms she so desperately wants to court. She's already abused her power as mayor and governor for her own benefit.

She is spreading false information that was discredited months ago. Fox News has already tried to smear him with it and he won the primary anyway. This raises some questions about Palin. Is she trying to use a smear tactic that has already failed? If so, she is incompetent as well as unethical (and annoying). Or is she spreading it now because she is so hopelessly ignorant that she only recently read the rumor and has decided to start repeating it, not knowing that the American people have already heard it, and rejected it. Or is she completely unaware of what she is saying and is simply reading off a cue card that McCain gave her??

As you all know the McCain Palin ticket is in deep trouble and getting desperate by the minute. They are in a Panic Mode and will say and do anything now to try and scare people into believing them. We all saw the Evil, Fear, Terror and Lies the Bush Administratiion pulled over on most of the nation, so do not believe John McCain and Sarah Palin are of a changed Administration. When you are cornered and down and out you will say some very evil things against people who are honest, good and really want to work for the people. You know John McCain was very desperate when he chose Palin over some very good canidates who would have given him some creditability, instead he chose an "Eyewinkin', you betcha, doggone it "girl" from Alaska who obviously has little education but thinks her smile, her children and moosehunting will sway alot of people. She will learn in these lower 48 states we read and can see through her remarks and smears and can relate to the truth. John McCain is using Palin for a scapegoat when he looses this election, but he has no one to blame but himself. Obama will take this country by a landslide and bring dignity and honesty back into the White House.
