Obama campaign rejects Palin 'terrorist' gibe

[cnn-photo-caption image= http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2008/images/10/05/art.boflag1005.ap.jpg caption="Gov. Palin said Saturday that Sen. Obama sees America as 'imperfect.'"]
(CNN) - Barack Obama's campaign has quickly rejected Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's claim that he associated "with terrorists who targeted our own country."

Palin attacked Sen. Obama on Saturday for his brief political relationship with Bill Ayers, a founding member of the radical Weather Underground, which was involved in several bombings in the early 1970s, including attacks on the Pentagon and the Capitol. Obama was a child at the time of the bombings.

Obama and Ayers, now a university professor, have met several times since 1995, when both orked with a non-profit group trying to raise funds for a school improvement project and a haritable foundation. CNN's review of project records found nothing to suggest anything nappropriate in the volunteer projects in which the two men were involved.

A CNN Fact Check found Palin's charge to be false.

Does anyone else see a little more sinister motive for equating the brown skinned guy with terrorists? Sexism ain't the only ism that should be thrown around in this race.

who cares to listen to palin? she should remember her skeletons. Everything about Christianity should be taken off Mccain/palin's name. Christian do not lie, they are not arrogant and pompous. there is no trace of humility in Mccain and palin. and for you all who think abotion is the only sin that God abhors, what of the innocent children who are left orphans at iraq as a result of war that was not supposed to take place in the first place, or the children that has been killed in that war. I am not and will never be in support of abortion. in the same manner i am not in support of unnessary killings that comes from unacceptable and unsupposed war. Our religious leaders, this should be a food for thought for you.

I moved to arizona the same year as mccain and when I heard his story I voted for him every time, now that I really get to see the real man I want all my votes back. I think alot of people in arizona are surprised at how out of tuned he is about what is going on in this country and how petty he is and his pick of a VP is straight out of hell.
She is not they only one thats dumb but I now realize mccain is not to bright either. This old lady is very impressed with Obama's education and how he thinks things through and keeps very smart people around him, with the trouble this country is in I feel good that we will be in good hands.

Why the terrorists love the republicans??? It seems that is what always workes to get them in the office. I think it is our money. If we pull out they do not get our money. I want my tax money to be spend in our country. We are just helping Iraq and other country get stronger, while we are losing jobs and homes.

Sarah Palin is a "proven" lair so, why listen to her? This lady opens her mouth and just lets words fly out without and concern for the content – talk about "airhead".

What is wrong with this woman! I became disgusted with her while listening to her first speech at the republican convention. Do these people have no shame? Of course each party is going to try to bring attention to the faults of the other, but I really don't think she knows anything about half of the stuff she slings. At least the Obama campaign seems to be a little more dignified in their attacks. If she is for reform and transparency, why is she not cooperating with her own investigation?

This is the McCain and Palin change that they want to pursue.

Palin wants to change the Constitution of the United States to benefit her position as Vice President, which Bush and Cheney, which is very, very scary.

McCain and Palin is a very dangerous ticket.

When a McCain campaign spokesman says that they have to use the negative strategy to deflect from the economy, that tells the entire story. GOP can't lead, govern or balance a checkbook.

This is the same stuff that big headed Sean Hannity and all of those idots at "Faux" news have been talking about for such a long time.

I'm sure that they have had some of those top notch reporters of theirs working on this story for the past year and a half, and if those die hard McCain supporters couldn't dig anything up, there probably isn't anything to find.

Although, those 3rd graders that Sara gave "a shout out" to at the debate may have uncovered something more! Just for extra credit and the chance to work with Karl Rove, Hannity and some of the other fine folks over there at Fox Noise

Why didn't Miss Golly Gee Gosh Darnit present this "fact" in the debate? She certainly slammed Obama during her RNC speech. If she had done so, she would have actually had to participate in the debate with Biden rather than orchestrating the whole thing to coincide with her scripted blabber. Their "facts" are so insane that it's laughable, but at the same time depressing because Americans will actually vote for these fools. God help us if Obama doesn't run away with it!

I want to know from the people who plan on voting for McCain...what about him makes you want to vote for him at this point? Please answer the question without verbal attacks toward his opponent Obama please. Thank you and I look forward to your responses.

By the way, the topic of this article is actually old news.

Do you get the feeling that had Obama set the bombs himself, his supporters would be excusing it as the actions of a freedom fighter for America?

Do they honestly believe that the American public can be fooled that easily? Sen. Obama has proven himself to be a natural born leader and someone the entire world can view as a positive change in the American political system. Palin can keep talking about everything except what is important to the general public. I mean those kind of comments she is making leads other to question some of her and her runningmates choices. Can anyone say Keating 5, Trooper Gate, independence for Alaska, her views on abortion?
Honestly coming from someone on the outside looking in, we as Canadians are hoping beyond hope that Americans will vote in Obama and Biden this November. The entire world is watching this election.
    Please make the right choice.

The Republicans are trying to scare the American voters and we will not be fooled. The Republican campaign has been poorly run and the decisions John McCain has made have been poor. He is a liar and keeps telling lies and scaring people. His VP is trying to take over!
Obama/Biden have the ideas, diplomacy skills to get along with people and the courage to get America back on track.

Palin is SO UNDER QUALIFIED for any federal position that she has to so these simple and narrow minded statements out there. She's probably the same type of person who thinks being American means being white – that was the subtext of her statement. If she is a person coming from Idaho & Alaska – well, hell ya – she doesn't see the America I see – she has no clue in her little white neighborhood with a picket fence and phoney smile! I think she's more qualified to get a role on 'Desperate Housewives' as the stupid dumb neighbor who has no insight into anything around her.

She is already trying to subvert (or ignore) the Constitution by refusing to, the McCain's blessing, respond to a legally binding, constitutionally sound subpoena. Why does she or the flip flopping, old, hypocritical McBush have ANY credibility whatsoever? I sincerely hope that the American voter is smarter than the McCain/Palin ticket gives us credit for being!

I believe that the McCain campaign is desperate and lowering themselves to this level,in the hopes that the American people will be swayed with this nonsense. It is yet another example of a lie by the McCain campaign. A campaign whose manager says that elections are not about the issues will stoop to anything. Fortunately the American people are not so dumb or trashy to fall for this nonsense, and from Sarah Palin no less. The only reason that she did not run crying out of the debate is because Joe Biden is a real gentleman. She showed her ignorance there and again with this lie. John McCain talks about honor ,as if he ever had any. As a former member of the U.S. Army Special Forces I've known some REAL American heroes,John McCain is not one.
