Cindy McCain goes on the attack

(CNN) - Cindy McCain, wife of Republican presidential candidate John McCain, appears to have sharpened her attacks against Barack Obama on the campaign trail in the final stretch of the race for the White House.

One day after she told a Tennessee newspaper Obama is running the "dirtiest campaign in American history," Mrs. McCain criticized the Illinois senator for voting against a bill to fund troops in Iraq, a regular line of attack from her husband’s campaign.

“The day that Senator Obama cast a vote not to fund my son when he was serving sent a cold chill through my body, let me tell you,” she told a Pennsylvania crowd before introducing her husband and Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin.

“I would suggest Senator Obama change shoes with me for just one day. I suggest he take a day and go watch our men and women deploying," she also said, to boisterous cheers from the campaign.

The vote Mrs. McCain is referencing came in May of 2007, when Obama was one of 14 senators who voted against a war-spending plan that would have provided emergency funds for American troops overseas. He, like many Democrats, was pushing for an end to the war in Iraq, and the legislation included no provisions for that. Before that vote, Obama did support and vote for a funding proposal that included a timeline for withdrawal from Iraq - a troop funding bill McCain opposed.

A CNN fact check deemed the charge that Obama voted against troop funding "misleading."

What about the one McCain voted against that included a timeline and that GW Bush vetoed...? I guess that might show her husband in a bad light as well as show where there is little distinction between him and 'the dubyuh'...

Cindy...just stand there and smile...don't get dirty...it's not very becoming of a lady...has Sarah taught you nothing...?

I mean, let's be real. You're 'the other woman' not only in your marriage, but in this campaign. He left his first wife for a younger woman – you...he left conventional wisdom for another woman – Pailin...next step...could history repeat itself not only in McCain losing his presidential bid for the 3rd time but you losing him to...nah...let's not throw unnecessary conjecture into an election that already has substantive issues to be discussed. Silly, silly me...

Why doesn't someone in the Media ask him to explain why he was against the war in Iraq when most of the intelligent people in the US and British thought it necessary.

Where did this junior state senator from illinois get his information to make the call? Or his he just Monday morning quarterbacking? A sport that he is quite good at.

Cindy is not the person to be trying to stump for John McCain. Remember, she's the "other woman," the one John cheated with while he was still married to his first wife. She doesn't hold much sway for those who think that marriage is something should be honored.

Are you crazy, your husband sent your son to war. Obama did not. and by the way if you voted for the war your son ought to go. That is just fair.

Uh, Cindy, it is not Obama that is running a dirty campaign. And look at your husband's NO vote for funding the troops because it contained a timeline for sending them home.

    "dirtiest campaign in American history"...

Seriously are they even trying anymore? McCain's campaign is an absolute slap in the face to any American with an ounce of intelligence and the ability to use Google.

Maybe while she's watching those troops deploy she could explain to them her husbands horrible voting record to troops and veterans. Maybe she should "examine the record" as her husband has directed us to do.

We must win “by any means necessary” (sorry, but we are plagiarists). We don’t want “that one” in the White House – he is too smart for us. We and our adorable sheep are comfortable with our ignorance, lies and befuddled brains. How dare you say we are archaic and who cares about our geographical challenges? Spain, who? We can take on any country by ourselves. You betcha! Country First!!! By the way, is Afghanistan in Europe or Asia?
SOS, SOS, Mayday!!! Just jivin’ Wink, wink.

  19. PA voter for Obama

It's all about the timetable and everyone knows it. McCain voted against funding our troops when a timetable was included, and Obama voted against funding our troops when a timetable was not included. Obama did not want to write a blank check to George W. Bush.

    please post

I thought John McCain was a Maverick, you know a real man. If that is the case, why do so many women speak for him? Cindy looked like she was scared to interact with the crowd after the debate last night. They both left after about 5 minutes, while the Obama's stayed for at least 20??!!

I suggest, Mrs. McCain, that you review some of the vicious lies and racist slurs coming out of the McCain/Palin campaign, the dirtiest campaign I've seen in my lifetime.

I want a President who cares about the average person–BARACK OBAMA; a VP candidate with vast knowledge and ability to complete a sentence–JOE BIDEN; and a First Lady with a great education and some down-to-earth humility–MICHELLE OBAMA.

The biggest mistake your husband has made is selecting Sarah Palin who is totally unqualified to be VP and dangerous in her far-right views!
