New RNC ad mentions William Ayers

(CNN) – Republican efforts to link Sen. Barack Obama to William Ayers, a member of a 1970’s anti-war terrorist group, will increase Friday when a new ad from the Republican National Committee hits the airwaves.

“Chicago Way,” attempts to cast Obama as a stereotypical “shady” Chicago politician. Shot in black-and-white, the ad asserts “Obama’s first campaign was launched at a gathering at Mr. Ayers's home.”

The ad also mentions convicted Chicago businessman Tony Rezko, a onetime prominent supporter of Obama’s, and William Daley, a national co-chair of Obama's presidential campaign who is also the brother of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and the son of legendary Chicago political boss Richard J. Daley.

“There’s more you need to know,” an announcer says as the ad ends.

The ad comes as the McCain campaign continues to carry out a more aggressive strategy of raising questions about Obama’s judgment and personal associations in the last month of the general election campaign. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin recently said that Obama sees America as “so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country,” in an apparent reference to Ayers.

The Obama campaign has hit back hard accusing the McCain of trying to distract voters’ attention away from the many challenges the country is facing.

The RNC says "Chicago Way" will air in major media markets in Indiana and Wisconsin.

Senator McCain, how many times have you committed an act of ADULTERY?

No doubt too many to count.

I would challenge anyone to find one person involved in the support of education in Chicago (especially involved with Annenberg) who doesn't know William Ayers.

Annenberg's widow just endorsed John McCain over the weekend. She thought Ayers was a stand up enough person to allow him to serve on the Annenberg board.

Does that make Annenberg a terrorist, too? And therefore John McCain is a terrorist as well??

This whole thing is so ridiculous.

If McCain and his campaign are so genuinely concerned about this connection, why are they just now talking about it?

I'll tell you why. They know the accusation is ridiculous, and they're afraid they're going to lose.

McCain is now running the nasty campaign he swore he wouldn't.

I feel bad for Ayers, this man has turned his life around and done a lot of honorable things in adulthood but now he is getting trashed! I bet he never expected to have a campaign ad based on him...

Liberal hypocrites. If McCain was buddies with Ayers, he would be crucified by the media.

Not sure who is being polled but liberals are in for a rude awakening when Obama gets destroyed by McCain in the general election.

The Obama Ayers relationship is a real stretch. However, Palin's involvement in the radical anti-American Alaska Independence Party goes deep and is documented.

How come know one ever say's anything about the Judge in the Ayers case? If someone is putting bombs under police car's and trying to bomb Goverment buildings, they should still be in jail. 40 or 50 years later. This is'nt Obama's deal it's the Justice system's deal.

What is the game plan total civil unrest? Are we going to return to riots, hate. Is that what McCain/Palin are seeking? Is it that if I am losing I will seek and destroy everything. I am frightened. This is not the way to lead. Hearing a person in a crowd to shout to kill someone and you not call that type of behavior unacceptable is definitely not acceptable to me and should not be acceptable to any American.

Why is this not important to you people? Obama has close ties to this man. Not only did they launch Obama's political career at Ayers house but Obama's wife worked with Ayers' wife at her lawfirm. They served on a board and worked closely together. Obama out and out lied when he said "he's just a guy in my neighborhood". Obama also listened to his radical preacher for over 20 years without knowing that he preached hatred for America. You have got to be totally ignorant to think that there isn't a connection. Obama hangs out with people that hate America. These are facts. It isn't "supposedly" – it is! For all of you to say that it doesn't matter when it so directly points to Obama's character and judgment is wrong. And it should be an important issue in this election, just as the economy and the war in Iraq. Can you honestly say you have absolute trust in Obama and his judgment to do what is best for you and me? I can't.

Why Obama doesn’t want to talk about his life from 1981 to 1983 and 1985 to 1987

Because he can’t get vote from single mom

Yeah real stupid, its normal for good people to have friends like Ayers! You are who you hang out with, period!

Is there any depth McCain and Palin won't sink to? I guess they are trying to distract us from the Palin ethics violation report due tomorrow – the one that is going to be really bad because her husband admitted the vendetta.......

It is still unfathomable to me why anyone would pick someone being investigated for ethics violations as their running mate. It makes no sense whatsoever! Or did every other republican and independent in the country say 'no'?

Both Obama and Ayers served on the Annenberg Foundation board. Isn't Mrs. Annenberg a major bundler, fundraiser for McCain? How come that is not brought up to the McCain campaign?

Time to denounce and reject the Annenberg Foundation for appointing Ayers to its education board. How dare them choose a rehabilitated, unconvicted, never-killed-anyone failed terrorist who won a citizen of the year award forty years after he turned himself in!

I find it amazing that all of you are so brainwashed that you can not even grasp the magnitude of the Ayers situation. It is about his judgement. If in his personal life he surrounds himself around people like ayers, wright and all the others what kind of people will he surround himself with when he has the power of the u.s. presidency. It is a legitimate question folks and one you yourselves should be asking and thinking about.

Why is Obama so great again? I live in Chicago, explain to me how he has made our public school systems any better. I'm going with the unpopular vote because I've seen these promises broken first hand. Of course, living in Illinois my vote will not count, but someone please explain to me what gives you confidence he can run this country? I feel so many people are being brainwashed and I hope you brace yourself for broken promises if he gets your vote. Of course, I will support him if he gets elected because he will be our President.

Perhaps in the future the two sides (republican & democrat) can clone a baby from perfect parents with perfect family lines. Then each side can put the baby in a box and feed them nothing but media from each sides prospective. Then when the child reaches about 56 years old they would release their canidats and present them to the world on an election year. There would be nothing the other side could say bad about them. Wow what a Brave New World it would be.

This is all they have to work with now? Come on, is everyone who makes there way in Chicago a bad person? No. Just because you work with someone doesn't mean accept their values.

How does talking about Ayers help me with my loan situation? Seriously, I couldn't care less about Ayers. I want to hear answers to the issues, namely the economy.

P.S. All this talk about Obama's past makes me want to get this book. Thanks Republicans for stirring my interest.
