(CNN) – Republican efforts to link Sen. Barack Obama to William Ayers, a member of a 1970’s anti-war terrorist group, will increase Friday when a new ad from the Republican National Committee hits the airwaves.

“Chicago Way,” attempts to cast Obama as a stereotypical “shady” Chicago politician. Shot in black-and-white, the ad asserts “Obama’s first campaign was launched at a gathering at Mr. Ayers's home.”

The ad also mentions convicted Chicago businessman Tony Rezko, a onetime prominent supporter of Obama’s, and William Daley, a national co-chair of Obama's presidential campaign who is also the brother of Chicago Mayor Richard M. Daley and the son of legendary Chicago political boss Richard J. Daley.

“There’s more you need to know,” an announcer says as the ad ends.

The ad comes as the McCain campaign continues to carry out a more aggressive strategy of raising questions about Obama’s judgment and personal associations in the last month of the general election campaign. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin recently said that Obama sees America as “so imperfect that he's palling around with terrorists who would target their own country,” in an apparent reference to Ayers.

The Obama campaign has hit back hard accusing the McCain of trying to distract voters’ attention away from the many challenges the country is facing.

The RNC says "Chicago Way" will air in major media markets in Indiana and Wisconsin.

McCain is nothing but an angry old man and has lost all respect. Palin on the other hand is a disgusting puppet who is being used and has not yet figured it out. There is a lot of air upstairs with her....

The PALIN/McCain campaign should be in jail for making terrorist threats agains Barack Obama. WE ALL HEARD the White Supremist PALIN/McCain followers calling for an old fashioned lynching.

THEY should ALL be ASHAMED of themselves.

And they call themselves 'Christians' .....HYPOCRITS would be more appropriate.

McCain worked with Bush and Cheney, I can't think of any greater terrorist. Hell, Ayers didn't kill 4000 Americans in an illegal and immoral war. Y'all did that.

Obama deserves an award for just putting up with so much ignorance.

We just need to get on with a Presidential Election! We have so many other problems in our country right now. What happened 40 years surely isn't one of them.

but while I'm on the subject of SMEARS.....They can say what they want about Barack Obama, but, we sure don't continuously hear anything about McCain's past girlfriend Vicki Iseman, who happens to be a Lobbyist, in Washington DC and we don't hear anything about McCain's possible past mafia ties, DO WE? Google it...see what you find out, for yourselves.

  7. Youth Voter

Why is this election so dirty and nasty when the young american youths are voting for the first time. What happen to the nice primaries where we heard nice things about the candidates. As a youth I am scared to death to cast a vote. McCain a Republican beating up on Obama a Democrat. I just don't understand why so much violence from the Republican and the Democrats can't fire back. Republicans give me and my friends something to select from except Ayers and Wright. If they are famous why didn't we learn this in school?

John McCain has sold every strand of honor he may have had for this election. I used to be comfortrable with him but am so nervous about the favors he will need to repay if he was in office. HOW DO YOU HIRE PEOPLE WHO ONCE USED YOUR OWN CHILD AS A SMEAR TACTIC? Obama's vote against a military funding bill due to its lack of a time line made Cindy's blood run cold yet SHE IS OK WITH HER HUSBAND WORKING WITH PEOPLE WHO CALLED THE CHILD SHE CONNECTED WITH IN (I BELIEVE) BANGLADESH AN ILLEGIMATE BLACK BABY?

The Republicans are beating a dead elephant. They have nothing left, and McCain is going down in flames.

The real domestic terrorists are in the current administration . . . and they've sadly brought this country to its knees.

The Osama plan is to implant radical views in our schools to think like he does. But then again he's a normal black peasant who likes to belittle anyone he's feels is below his level. Guess what Barney you will never be as smart as you want to be. Yes he is a radical, yes he wants to convert America to a Islamic nation, why ?, BECAUSE HIS DADDY WAS NOTHING BUT A RADICAL HIMSELF,A DEADBEAT. AMERICA WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU.

Why is a man called a terrorist because he stood against a war that was killing US baby yea baby just turn 18 and sent to die. If any thing should have been called a terrorist act that should have been, as well as what going on now, with bushes war, look at the life’s that as been lost to kill his daddy once kickin it buddy. Yet your not calling bush a terrorist, oh here we go again money and power makes a new title. We need people stand up against this war and speaking about the 4000 souls who died so bush could make a point. The children who lost Mama Daddy or both to his cause. We call other country leaders terrorist for such acts. Ayers was standing for the rights of US men and women and children and moms and dads which was being violated by the power to be, he was nothing less then a Dr King with a different approach. Now he works at a college teaching our youth so why should any one have a problem benign his friend when he teaching our youth and being paid for it a terrorist I think not!!!

Everything I have seen on Ayers says that he is an above average citizen that does outstanding things for the community – I think I read he was citizen of the year or something like that in 1998 in Chicago.

I think he may be able to sue John McCain for libel because these attacks on him are in my opinion unjust today when the history of activity was what – 40 years ago and his actions in the last 10-20 years are far better than the average citizen

Real scumbag politics out of Chicago.

I've 'crossed paths' with my share of low-lifes in my day, but none of them have ever said, "Hey Tom, you seem like my kind of guy, here's $50 million dollars to distribute as you see fit...BTW, why don't you come over to my place to launch your political career."

    Obama's goin' down.

The infamous 1963 Mississippi Burning civil rights case involved members of the Ku Klux Klan murdering three civil rights workers. These KKK members were acquitted or given short sentences, although everyone knew that these guys should be spending the rest of their lives in prison.
How is Bill Ayers different than these murderous thugs?
What if some of these thugs are now upstanding members of the community?
If one of them gave a fundraiser of for a senate candidate and he knew of their past, would that be a reflection on his character, even if the murders occurred when the candidate was only 3 years old at the time?
I may still vote for Obama, but this does raise a question.
